Salams,

I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish you all a Ramadan Mubarak. During this blessed month, I pray that your relationship with our creator is stronger than ever, that your duas are accepted and your good deeds stand in your favour on the Day of Judgement.

Do *try* and stay away from sinful acts (a note to myself, first and foremost) and work on trying to get closer to Allah (swt) and that you want to achieve his mercy and blessings.

Insha'Allah I want this Ramadan to be my best Ramadan. I will be spending the second week of Ramadan in Spain with other Muslims from around the world learning about the great Islamic scholar Al Ghazali. I will be in the company of Shaykh Abdul Hakim Murad and Dr Umar Faruq AbdAllah. May Allah (swt) preserve them both. Insha'Allah I will try and share the ilm with you all. For those on instagram, I have an account under the name RARAWNA if you wish to follow my travel diary.

Ramadan

Ramadaan is distinguished from the other months by a number of characteristics and virtues, including the following: 1) Allah has made fasting this month the fourth pillar of Islam. 2) Allah revealed the Quran in this month [refer Surah Baqarah 2:185] ... 3) Allah has made Laylat al-Qadr in this month, which is better than a thousand months [refer Surah-Qadar 97:1-5] 4) Allah has made fasting ...Ramadaan and spending its nights in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward a means of forgiveness of sins [refer Bukhari (2014) & Muslim (760)] 5) In this month, Allah opens the gates of Paradise and closes the gates of Hell, and chains up the devils, as is stated in al-Sahihayn. [refer Bukhari (1898) & Muslim (1079)] 6) Every night Allah has people whom He redeems from the Fire. [refer Ahmad (5/256) classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Sahih] 7) Fasting Ramadaan is a means of expiation for the sins committed since the previous Ramadaan, so long as one avoids major sins. [refer Sahih Muslim (233)] Fasting in Ramadaan is equivalent to fasting ten months. [refer Sahih Muslim (1164)] 9) Whoever prays qiyaam in Ramadaan with the imam until he finishes, it will be recorded for him that he spent the whole night in prayer. [refer Abu Dawood (1370); classed sahih by Al-albaani] 10) Umrah in Ramadaan is equivalent to Hajj. [refer Bukhari (1782) & Muslim (1256) 11) It is Sunnah to observe i’tikaaf (retreat for the purpose of worship) in Ramadaan, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) always did that. [refer Bukhaari (1922) & Muslim (1172)]. 12) It is mustahabb in the sense of being strongly recommended in Ramadaan to study the Qur’aan together and to read it a great deal. You may study the Qur’aan together by reciting it to someone else and by having someone else recite it to you. [refer Bukhaari (6) & Muslim (2308). 13) It is mustahabb in Ramadaan to offer iftaar to those who are fasting. [refer al-Tirmidhi (807) & Ibn Maajah (1746); classed as sahih by al-Albaani]

Life lessons from Monopoly: 1- When you are done playing everything eventually goes back into the box. When you are done living you too will be placed in a box, and your wealth and properties will be of no avail to you. 2- In pure capitalism the strong will prey on the weak. When you facilitate such models you don't give the weak a fighting chance. ... 3- When it comes to business there are no friends. Even the allies become enemies. 4- There are clear indicators for certain investments that they will be profitable or not, you must learn to read the signs. 5- Even though you may hold the dice, don't actually control what you will roll. In life you must take the action and leave the results up to Allah.

“Is not Allah Sufficient for His slave?” [al-Zumar 39:36] Is it not enough for you, o servants of Allah, that al-Haseeb is taking care of your affairs? Who is al-Haseeb? It is a wonderful Name of Allah by which worries of the future are dispelled and quietened! Ask al-Haseeb who surely does not discard His slaves! Imam ibn al Qayyim said: “He is al-Haseeb, the Sufficient, He fulfils [His slaves’] needs and protects [them], and He takes care of His slaves at every moment.”

Strive to be humble and remember the time when you were lost and misguided, and it was purely by His Mercy & Grace that you could walk on the Path of Light. Most of all, refrain from passing conclusive judgements on others! We have not been made lords over others to decide their fate on the Day of Judgement. It says in al-Saheeh that a man said: "By Allah, Allah will not forgive So and so. Allah said: ‘Who is the one who swore by Me that I will not forgive So and so? I have forgiven So and so and I have cancelled out your good deeds." (Muslim)

When good happens, praise Him. And when trials touch you, be patient for by Allah, His Word and His Promise is true. Remember to ask Him to protect your faith & heart! رَبَّنا لا تُزِغ قُلوبَنا بَعدَ إِذ هَدَيتَنا وَهَب لَنا مِن لَدُنكَ رَحمَةً ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الوَهّابُ "Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower." يا مقلب القلوب ثبت قلبي على دينك "O Turner of Hearts! Make my heart firm upon your Deen."

The entire religion revolves around four principles: Love and Hatred, and stemming from them, Action and Abstinence. The person whose love and hatred, action and abstinence, are all for the sake of Allah, has perfected his faith so that when he loves, he loves for the sake of Allah, when he hates, he hates for the sake of Allah. When he does something, he does it for the sake of Allah, and when he abstains from something, he abstains for the sake of Allah.
