[NEW PROJECT ALERT, NEW PROJECT ALERT]

Waste continues at the Nash, pleasing the majority of audiences and critics alike, even earning a 4 stars from Quentin Letts (shock horror). I’ll be heading to the capital this week to see it on the Saturday (I also managed to sneak in a Friday evening perf too, but don’t tell anyone :D) with a couple fellow Tumblrites, so I am very much PUMPED for that.

Now this bit of news will excite you. It seems Charlie’s stint on John Finnemore’s Double Acts went down really well, as far as Twitter reactions are concerned. So well in fact, he has joined another new Radio 4 comedy series, Michael Frayn’s Matchbox Theatre. The general synopsis is as follows: ‘In this four-part series, an all-star cast perform short scenes based on the latest book from comic philosophical writer Michael Frayn, Matchbox Theatre, which explores how we attempt to communicate with one another.' The first episode starts on Friday 27th Nov at 11:30am, and will air every Friday until 18th Dec, and each episode will star the same cast, including Joanna Lumley, Roger Allam and Sir David Attenborough (yes, that guy). Sony Pictures has released the first official image from TriStar and BBC Films feature The Lady In The Van showing Dame Maggie Smith in character as the eccentric Miss Shepherd. The big screen adaptation of writer Alan Bennett’s iconic memoir is directed by long-standing Bennett collaborator Nicholas Hytner. The film tells the true story of the relationship between Bennett and Miss Shepherd, a woman of uncertain origins who ‘temporarily’ parked her van in Bennett’s London driveway and proceeded to live there for 15 years. Sony Pictures has also announced that the film will release in cinemas across the UK on Nov 13, 2015. The first official picture shows Dame Maggie Smith (Downton Abbey, Harry Potter), on location in London alongside co-star Alex Jennings (The Queen), who plays Bennett. The movie is being filmed on the very street, and in the actual house, where Bennett lived in Camden Town. Bennett has also been present on set watching his life being re-enacted. The wider cast has also been confirmed and includes Frances de la Tour, Jim Broadbent, Deborah Findlay, Roger Allam and Gwen Taylor. The film marks Hytner’s first directorial outing after ending his decade at the head of the British National Theatre. He and Bennett previously collaborated on the films of Bennett’s The Madness of King George and The History Boys. Kevin Loader (Le Week-end, Venus, In The Loop) and Damian Jones (The Iron Lady, Belle) produce, along with Hytner. Miles Ketley and Charles Moore are serving as executive producers, alongside Christine Langan of BBC Films.

On Thursday, July 10th, Roger Allam will be in Magione, Italy for the Trasimeno Music Festival. The venue is the Castle of the Knights of Malta. He will recite William Walton’s “Facade” along with Dame Felicity Lott. Plus, true to its name, there will be music. :)
