Crypto Zoo

Animals: Elephant (main), zebra, eagle, bunny, and deer.

One day I was walking through Africa, and I came across this creature. It's the Elaphanto, mixed with different kinds of animals! It looks like it has eagle wings, deer horns, a bunny tail, and a zebra skin. I wonder how this all happened, did it's ancestors reproduce with different animals? Guess it's just a mystery right now.

In this project, I found it extremely interesting since you could take pictures from the internet and put them into another one. You could hide things or make it look real. I did like this one since it was enjoyable. Since I did work hard on this and tried my best, I think I would get an 9 or 10.

Colorized Photo 4/16

In this activity, what I found interesting was the fact that you could color a black and white image. It was neat that just by clicking on a couple buttons you could change a black tire to a pink one! Also, the fact that it's fast and quick.

        That showed me how to just color over the area I wanted.

Overall, believing that I worked a 9 out of 10 on this project since I worked extremely hard on it. However, I'd give myself a 9, since I did spend a great amount of time on it, but that can also come out it a positive manner.

In the photo, it's showing different layers of light and focused on the sun and camel to the left.

This one is showing the light to the right as the center focus along with the house.

The picture is focused on the wooden steps while the sun is showing different light settings and views.

This photo shows the sun as the main focus with the leaves interfering on the side. Showing shades of different light rays and views expressed through the image.

This photo shows the assortment of colors with the shading of bright and darks, focusing mainly on two objects, the sun and the people.

Lastly, this one shows the sun shining through the clouds which shows the lights and darknesses like in the earlier picture. Proving the image to have various focuses light the clouds to the right, the sun, and some of the buildings.

 1. This photo shows different levels of value by having ranges of light and contrasts. As well as levels of clarity, composition, and presentation. 

2. The center of interest in the picture is the baby's head and Mother Teresa's face.

3. The design and compositional elements in the photograph are the different lines of colors in her jacket and face. Also, showing in the background. With the two people centered in the middle of the image; focused on the two's facial expressions.

4. The depth of field, angle of view, contrast, and color of the photograph are the two people in the middle, along with the angle of view, contrast, and color blocking out the background and focusing on the people.

5. In the photograph, what is communicated in the photograph is the people's facial expressions. It shows the love and happiness between them, trying to make the scene happier.

6. The photograph is a good photograph since it shows different balances of light and focuses.

20th Century Photographers-Famous Photographer Project

Eddie Adams:

Eddie Adams was a 20th century photographer, being known for his portraits of celebrities and politicians with his photojournalism covering 13 wars. He was born on June 12, 1933 in New Kensington, PA and developed his interest in photography as a teenager. Serving on his high school newspaper, and a wedding and portrait photographer, he knew his goals would soon come true. After high school, he went into the U.S. Marine Corps, spending three years as a combat photographer during the Korean war. Coming home, he joined The Evening Bulletin in PA from 1958-1962 and then become a photographer for the Associated Press. Later in life, Adams and his friend, Dirck Halstead, wanted to take pictures in Vietnam to photograph the war, which is exactly what they did. Spending his time over there, he snapped his legendary photograph of the South Vietnamese Brigadier, General Nguyen Ngoc Loan shooting at a Vietcong prisoner during a small minor battle. Appearing in newspapers globally, his photograph instantly became famous sending Adams into the world's top photojournalists. Also, earning him the Pulitzer Prize for breaking news photography in 1969 and largely credited the turning of public opinion against U.S. involvement in the war. In 1972, Adams left the A.P. and joined the Time magazine, but ended up returning in 1976 as the first and only special correspondent. However, he left once again in 1980 and spent the next 25 years working in the Parade magazine, shooting more than 350 covers, including 13 war and shot portraits like of Pope John Paul II, Richard Nixon, and George Bush. He founded the Barnstorm: The Eddie Adams Workshop in 1988, which staffed the nation's top photographers and journalists in upstate N.Y and in 1995 he photographed a 3 year-old with leukemia which torn the strings of people's hearts world-wide. However, in May 2004, he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and ended up leaving the world on September 19, 2004.

  What does flattening mean?

Flattening is the action of taking out layers and making the image appear flat, not having depth.

2.      How do you get to layer styles?

You get layer styles by layering and editing by showing different areas of colors.

3.      Why are layers important?

Layers are important since they show different colors and contrasts of an image.

4.      What are blending modes?

Blending modes are when they blend modes of different layers together.

5.      What is opacity and how do you change it in the layers palette?

Opacity is the proportion of light absorbed and you can change it in the layers palette by clicking on the box on the side.

6.      How do you link layers?

You can link layers by using the box on the side and link the two or more layers by right clicking.

Resolution is the term used by pixel dimensions, the number of pixels along the width and height of an image.

2 How can you use the Crop tool when retouching photos?

You can use the Crop tool when retouching photos by clicking on the tool and then using it on the image.

3 How can you adjust the tonal range of an image?

You can adjust the tonal range of an image by adjusting the image’s distribution of pixels, from darkest to lightest. By going to the Levels dialog box  and the Histogram palette.

4 What is saturation, and how can you adjust it?

Saturation is the strength or purity of an image and you can adjust it by using the sponge tool.

5 Why would you use the Unsharp Mask filter on a photo?

You would use the Unsharp Mask filter on a photo since it adjusts the contrast of the edge detail and creates the illusion of a more focused image.

Midterm Part 2:

When taking pictures, I tried to demonstrate the rule of thirds concept. In my pictures, I tried to show different shades of light along with different focuses. My subject was my math teacher, Ms. W, working in her environment; teaching! In my main picture, I used techniques to make it look better my contrast. My goal was to use the rule of thirds by showing more different shades of light and showing her as the subject in this picture.

Midterm Part 1:

I enjoy this picture since it has different shades of light and focus.

I like this image since it uses a type of "grain" making the picture blurred a bit.

This picture is good since it shows all different sorts of shades of colors and shows a main focus.

I like this picture since the main focus in the center, and everything around it is quiet.

This picture is good since the background is all blurred so the main focus, the player, is center of attention.

I enjoy this picture since it has different shades of shadows and the focus is on the painter.

This picture is good since it’s blurred around the main focus, the farmer, while the farmer is clear.

I like this picture since it shows the swimmer's reflection with all different balances of light.

I like this picture because it's focused right on the player instead of having the interference with the background.

How I'll approach the second portion of the midterm project, is basically similar to these nine images. I'm going to show different senses and shades of light along with all sorts of focuses. For example, I could blur out the background and focuses on the center of attention like in the football player picture. Or I could grain out a picture or make it have a reflection like in the judge and swimmer picture. I’ll edit and set up the pictures to the best of my ability. However, I’ll show my edited techniques like in the ones posted similar to the ones in the PDN Magazine article. Simply saying, that I'm going to have similar aspects of these pictures to my second portion of the assignment.
