Average pro tvl post: we can't do censorship guys! This is a gothic show of course there are going to be fucked up things in! That doesn't mean it's a bad show!
Average tvl critical post; I don't like racism
here's the thing we are not going to do though; we are not going to try and shut up criticisms against Hannah Moscovitch by saying that we need to regulate our responses lest we veer into misogyny. No I feel like this always happens whenever the criticisms start to get a little too spicy against white women involved in something rancid. We have people going "guys ask yourselves, would you let a man get away with this? you are being misogynistic by going after the woman this hard." And it's like we have to continuously measure ourselves and pace ourselves and doubt ourselves about going overboard with our criticisms, when we are out here fucking criticizing RACISM and ANTI- BLACKNESS! I am so fucking sick of people trying to obfuscate the goal. Like why does this always get thrown in our faces when we get a little too loud with our criticisms?! Us who are brown and black and sometimes also women?? Like instead of being "guys you are being too loud about your criticisms against this white woman" why don't you try and write posts and be just as loud about your criticisms against the white men she's working with??? It's like people going: you wouldn't care so much if Taylor Swift were a man, and by caring they mean talking about Taylor Swift being MAGA and Republican and inviting ICE to her wedding. Like shut the fuck up trying to portray white women as fragile; we know what misogyny is when it is us brown and black women who don't even count as human beings in so many of your books. More so if we are not part of the anglosphere/imperial core/global north!

I want to do with you what spring does with the cherry trees.
this is our new showrunner lads we're cooked
The white woman tears are coming after profiting off of the anti blackness
Here's the thing; I know Hannah as a showrunner will barely be able to say anything interesting with QoTD. At least not with the writer's room they have. It will end up as a sort of liberal colour blind #girlboss thing, by the end of which it will be like actually revolution is bad! Like lol do you want to kill all men?? No! Cause #notallmen! Certainly not Lestat, but yeah umm...Louis has been a pimp and his dead daughter hates him okay. Anywayyy sooo spread love and not hate, we can solve misogyny without revolution btw ☺
no cause tell me how is this supposed to work? I have never read the books but I genuinely would like to hear from you all about what are they doing here lol...the way they are framing it as Akasha calling to women to rise up against patriarchy and I know this much that by the end of QoTD Akasha dies; so what's happening then? Is it going to be another series where the revolutionary is pushed as the bad guy because "violence cannot be the answer to oppression"? Lol. Tell me how often we have heard this in the past 2-3 years? Tell me how world orgs peddle peace while still maintaining the structures of imperialism? Lol. Is that what it is going to be? Revolution bad so let's join hands and there will be no more misogyny 🤣🤣🤣

rolin's cowardly ass stepping down as showrunner means jack shit when hannah is just as fucking racist. and now she's spearheading a season with a black woman as the titular character...this is not some #girlboss #feminist moment or whatever they're trying to spin it as. get several black women in the writers room or get the fuck out of my face.
“maître in the bedroom, maître only when it’s hot or convenient” is not about healthy bdsm practices, it’s about armand using kinky sex and a d/s dynamic to obfuscate the power dynamic inherent in their relationship while refusing to cede any real power to louis. it’s not just that armand said no to louis one time, it’s that louis was never at the negotiating table in the first place
the operative word here is “convenient.” it is very convenient for armand to do horrible things to louis and then go back to playing the obedient servant (“you have no right to be [angry], you asked me to do it” (allegedly)). it’s a convenient method of skirting accountability that in and of itself would be a huge red flag in a real bdsm relationship
i swear i’m not making up a guy
Sometimes Armand apologists (of the "louis was the abuser in loumand" variety) piss me off more than lestat apologists because these posts have a sort of persecution complex that lends an infuriating moralistic tone to what is actually just antiblack double standards and victim blaming. Everything Armand does is justified because of his trauma but Louis is a pathological pimp and he can never grow out of it. Nevermind that season 1 dedicated so much of its runtime to showing how the complex traumas and practical realities of being a Black man born in the late nineteenth century in the American south influenced Louis' survival tactics (both emotional and financial) and how he is constantly battling his relationship to those tactics. Not to mention the abusive relationship with Lestat that he JUST escaped from. Of course Armand's actions towards Louis are tied to his complex psyche and traumatic backstory but why only Armand? Why does that make it all okay and absolve him of guilt whereas suggesting that Louis' (objectively lesser) crimes are tied to his backstory is "letting him off the hook" or not sincere?
