Hello everyone,
As a father, there is no greater pain than watching your children grow up in fear and hardship, knowing you cannot give them the safety and comfort they deserve.
After losing our home, my family and I have experienced repeated displacement within Gaza. We are now living in extremely difficult conditions and urgently need your help for my three children.
Our tent has been damaged and is no longer suitable for living. We are suffering from insects and rodents, and just two days ago, one of my children nearly got bitten by a scorpion.
Current Progress: £87 / £2,000
Hello beautiful people around! This is Mohamed Saraf, from London, UK. Today I'm representing o… Mohamed Tarek needs your support for H

i know i sound like a broken record at this point but spending the entire season waiting for lestat’s facade and petty insufferable persona to get dismantled piece by piece to reveal the core of his guilt which should have been the abuse he inflicted on his black family (which could EASILY have coexisted with the conscientization of his own abuse at gabrielle/magnus’ hands) and being left with absolutely nothing is just insane insane INSANE. it’s like whenever things were feeling like they were building up to something real and sincere this show cynically reminds us that we were always stupid for even hoping. To willingly forgo any notion of a compelling narrative arc and any sense of character progression because you’re just that set on bastardising and humbling your former black MC is unfathomable levels of evil.
“thank you for loving him the way he needed to be loved.”
ARYA STARK APPRECIATION MONTH 2022 ↳ Day 5: House Stark
In the godswood she found her broomstick sword where she had left it, and carried it to the heart tree. There she knelt. Red leaves rustled. Red eyes peered inside her. The eyes of the gods. “Tell me what to do, you gods,” she prayed. For a long moment there was no sound but the wind and the water and the creak of leaf and limb. And then, far far off, beyond the godswood and the haunted towers and the immense stone walls of Harrenhal, from somewhere out in the world, came the long lonely howl of a wolf. Gooseprickles rose on Arya’s skin, and for an instant she felt dizzy. Then, so faintly, it seemed as if she heard her father’s voice. “When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives,” he said.
“But there is no pack,” she whispered to the weirwood. Bran and Rickon were dead, the Lannisters had Sansa, Jon had gone to the Wall. “I’m not even me now, I’m Nan.”
“You are Arya of Winterfell, daughter of the north. You told me you could be strong. You have the wolf blood in you.”
“The wolf blood.” Arya remembered now. “I’ll be as strong as Robb. I said I would.” She took a deep breath, then lifted the broomstick in both hands and brought it down across her knee. It broke with a loud crack, and she threw the pieces aside. I am a direwolf, and done with wooden teeth.
That night she lay in her narrow bed upon the scratchy straw, listening to the voices of the living and the dead whisper and argue as she waited for the moon to rise. They were the only voices she trusted anymore. She could hear the sound of her own breath, and the wolves as well, a great pack of them now. They are closer than the one I heard in the godswood, she thought. They are calling to me.

Arya and the black pearl
Smiling, he seized his dragon, flew it across the board. "I hope Your Grace will pardon me. Your king is trapped. Death in four."
The prince stared at the playing board. "My dragon—"
"—is too far away to save you. You should have moved her to the center of the battle."
"But you said—"
"I lied. Trust no one. And keep your dragon close."
that’s where you’re wrong, father. why, I believe I’m you writ small
and the septons say we must love our brothers. i will go to my grave thinking of my brother's peach. dear brother, i had hoped you were dead. they're not supposed to have statues, but my father loved them so much he had them done. when we were girls together, we had a private language, she and i. we're not friends, we're brothers. you may be as different as the sun and the moon, but the same blood flows through both your hearts. i have to be as brave as robb. the sound of a door opening, the scream of a rusted iron hinge. it all goes back and back, to our mothers and fathers and theirs before them; we are puppets dancing on the strings of those who came before us, and one day our own children will take up our strings and dance on in our steads
You know I genuinely feel like the Hannibal show has done some irrevocable damage in fandom spaces that primarily discuss American media. Why is it that every violence on screen is now seen as inherently erotic, resisting or outright rejecting any further reflection on what such a scene may mean, even from a Doylist perspective? Like I truly feel that tumblr fandom spaces, which are dominated by american media and disproportionately consists of white Americans and Europeans, have become so blinded by the tag of "cannibalism as a form of love" that they forget there is a larger world out there where cannibalism was literally a facet of colonialism-> white British colonialists digging up mummies to ground them into powders to consume<-and thus will continue to dismiss every concern and insist that every such violence depicted in a TV show is inherently queer and erotic. I have seen this happen in Sinners fandom. How some fans managed to interpret Remmick's lust for owning/controlling Samie's soul as queer, when it was clearly about the colonial lust of gobbling up countries, cultures, societies in favor of building an empire, I won't know. But I think it's the same problem with IWTV fandom where brutalization of a Black body onscreen is seen as erotic just because the show is set up within a queer narrative. I don't know what these people mean about not watching "enough Hannibal"- I certainly have never watched it, but suppose in anyway if the Hannibal show was half so serious about setting up a narrative (and I am assuming it didn't cause then it wouldn't be this popular amongst white queers lol), where it spoke about how white western societies, which now tries to distance itself from the violence of colonialism it inflicted upon the world, while still flaunting its ill begotten wealth ( almost all white posh neighborhoods, expensive restaurants maintained via cheap labour, high end dinner scenes with ingredients imported at barely any cost and exotic fruits available all year round etc) cannot really get rid of those tremendous facets of violence and hence it turns it inwards and you have a white serial killer, colluding with the law/cops as a forensic psychiatrist ( in real life whom did the white serial killers target- why do so many black women, brown women and native american women end up missing with their cases getting buried and hushed up?). And what if in a later season it completely retcons all that, retcons all the hints and narrative about colonial violence suffered by black and brown bodies and instead absolves Hannibal of all his violence, then wouldn't that be shit? That same thing happened with IWTV. I don't why there is this obstinate refusal to accept that. Like literally people who tout media illiteracy behind such widespread backlash against TVL like that second screenshot, tell me exactly what conclusion do you draw from having two black bodies graphically brutalized on screen by a brown character who may or may not be a Muslim, who may or may not have had an oppressed caste identity- while the character who was canonically chosen for immortal life for his white skin, blonde hair and blue eyes and who throughout the season has flaunted his superior vampiric blood, gets to have just a little bit of pecking at the dinner table, even when in earlier seasons he had beat his spouse bloody and crossed an ocean to participate in a lynching.
i feel like the comparison to the hannibal fandom response is particularly apt given hannibal also made some notoriously racist and transphobic choices and had major misogyny issues that tend to get overlooked in a fannish context where people don't want the waxing poetic about cannibalism as a form of love in a m/m couple to be disrupted by other fans bringing up how bad that show was toward its characters of color and women.
and this part will sound specifically familiar to tvl fans- margot verger, a familial abuse survivor who's a masc lesbian and v muscular bodybuilder in the hannibal book, is adapted on the show in s2. and even though margot is still queer and attracted to women on the show...she's depicted as cisfem and v conventionally feminine and fitting feminine beauty standards.
so watching "enough hannibal" would certainly prime viewers to expect characters of color, esp women of color, to be treated poorly by the narrative and for any trace of gender nonconformity in a canonically gnc woman to get ironed out in the tv adaptation. but the idea that being familiar with these forms of bigotry in media, even beloved queer media, should desensitize viewers to it and make them not care about it, and like caring about bigotry is a failure of media literacy isn't the kind of framework i will ever accept. the idea that true engagement with a piece of art is uncritical praise is deeply anti-intellectual.

42 years ago, on July 24, 1983, , the Black July pogrom took place in Sri Lanka, the largest anti-Tamil pogrom in the island’s history.
The island-wide violence led to the killing of 5,638 Tamils. Around 18,000 homes were burned, 5,000 shops were destroyed, and horrific atrocities were committed, including massacres, prison riots, sexual violence, assassinations, and even reports of cannibalism. Hundreds of women were raped by the Sinhalese mobs.
This atrocity was not a spontaneous outbreak of violence, but a well-orchestrated plan executed by the Sri Lankan government, with the active participation and support of sections of the Sinhalese population. Many not only took part in the violence but aided and abetted the pogrom with the clear intent of exterminating the Tamil people. The Sri Lankan government provided the mobs with transportation and voter registration forms citing the addresses of Tamil citizens.
International Commission of Jurists, a globally respected NGO, concluded that the violence during Black July “amounted to acts of genocide” under international law. “The evidence points clearly to the conclusion that the violence of the Sinhala rioters on the Tamils amounted to acts of genocide.” — International Commission of Jurists, December 1983
To this day, no justice has been delivered to the Eelam Tamils for the atrocities they endured, atrocities that continue in various forms even now.
Had the international community acted out of genuine concern for human rights rather than geopolitical interests, it could have prevented not only the 1983 pogrom but also the subsequent Tamil genocide that unfolded over the following decades, all the way up until 2009.
Do you know when I first came into the fandom and was looking around excitedly at having a new fandom after so long after ASoIaF, I came across a blog which complained about Armand being played by Assad Zaman because according to them Assad looked like roadkill. Like a dark skinned south Asian man being called that, made my heart drop to my stomach so fast, I have never been able to forget it. They went on to post their idealized version of Armand: all white, auburn haired, chisel boned models who are barely out of their teens. And while many people since have actively swooned over Assad playing Armand, have praised his acting and his range- I have never been able to shake this feeling that there's both a ridicule and voyeuristic gaze underlying all of that in a broader sense. TVL proved that show writers seem to think the same: Assad's Armand-> both a target of ridicule and someone to fetishize. Good enough for Lestat to fuck; not enough to love or respect or provide a bit of dignity.
If anyone in that writer's room- especially the white writers, knew what the South Asian slur "chakka" meant, by now they would have called Armand that too. I know it in my bones.
