Hihi youjo senki fandom, it's your comrade ECLIPSE 🥹🥹 for a season 2 episode 7 review!
Spoilers after the cut!
I think episode 7 is by far the most important episode this season, for the following reasons:
Firstly, the episode both focused on the politics of the empire and the public opinion and conditions. The contidion of the food in the captial was deteriorating, and the public opinion that was worsening in the course of the war because of the condition they were placed in, such as the food that resembled military rations and ceremonies for fallen soldiers when the soldiers weren't in the coffins (if my interpretation is correct, they weren't found on the battlefield, or other soldiers couldn't find the corpse)
Secondly, there were several instances where other characters called out tanya for her character, sayings, or actions. Her valuing logic and ending the war over feelings and continuing to fight for the sole reason of "victory" and nothing else. Even though I personally agree with her as a character, i agree with the values of ending the war and achieving peace over fighting for something I don't agree with to an extent. But there are things I agree less like not putting the effects of the war over civilians around my mind and focusing on my goals all the way. Like yes, Tanya's goals are important and are significant for her character, but I noticed she has difficulty putting herself in other people's shoes and noticing or feeling uncomfortable when others are showing emotions or when the topic of a conversation is what people feel about certain matters.
In conclusion, the episode was important in showing the public opinion and conditions while also showing that Tanya's character is on the way to developing because of other characters pointing out her flaws that I have mentioned before.
Did I like the episode? Yeah, sure! You can say that. I liked the opening scene of the tea party, which was a direct continuation of the previous episode where zettour mentioned he desired a tea party with tanya, and I liked how tanya liked looked after the time skip to 29th of June (I believe, or was it the 27th?) 1927, I've noticed Tanya's hair was longer in the funeral ceremony scene and I think it shows how she grows up even though she's fighting on the front lines and doesn't have time to cut her hair any shorter (I believe she would desire to have shorter hair to fight better)
