Great Mosque of Samarra, Iraq
Built between 848-851 CE under the Abbasid Caliph Al-Mutawakkil, this 9th-century mosque once stood as the largest in the world. Its most iconic feature is the Malwiya Minaret, a unique spiraling tower rising 52 meters high, symbolizing both architectural innovation and the grandeur of the Abbasid era.
