I'll explain later but I think it's time to say goodbye to my sweet little friend. We've shared over 6 years together. Sadly old age has a way of stealing our love ones from us💓
Headed out early this morning for a nice winter hike.

Blossom Almost 6 years old
These pics of her were taken about a month ago (Jan, 2016) when she was first diagnosed with lymphoma. I brought her to the vet because I’ve noticed that she was lethargic. They did some blood work and her glucose was low. Since then I’ve increased her feedings to every 4-5 hours. She’s still on a good quality meat diet but I’ve cut down her kibbles to ¼ (about a tbsp) of what I used to give her. Blossom is fed a high quality meat diet but I used to add Marshals Ferret or Innova Evo to it (soup form). I’ve since decreased most of what I used to add to the mixture. So far she’s doing well. I’ve tried my best to avoid giving her the prescribed pills (Prednisone) due to the side effects of damage to the liver. However I’ve noticed that she wasn’t fully as active as she used to be so I’ve now started her on the Prednisone. As of now I’m giving her one pill a day. If I find that she’s not as active which could mean that the disease has the upper hand, then I will give her two pills (one every 12 hours). Lymphoma is very common in older ferrets and there isn’t a cure unless it’s surgery. The surgery involves the removal of about ¾ of the pancreas (tumours) but there’s no guarantee that the tumours won’t grow back. Now taken Blossoms age into consideration, I don’t think it would be fair to put her through such a painful act. If I had the surgery done, I think that would be for me wanting to hold on to her but when I look into her eyes, I know that would be selfish. I’ve learned over the years how to let go, when it’s time to say good bye my friend. It was a tough lesson but it’s the right thing to do even though it breaks my heart into a million pieces, true love is unselfish and kind.
As of now, I will enjoy all the time that I’ve left with my sweet ferret
