I think that the need to create has to do with a gap,” he said. “A gap between what is and what might be. Or what you’d like to be. I think that the need to create is the need to bridge that gap.

If I said to myself, ‘I am already dead,’ then I had nothing to worry about. I’m free. I no longer have any fears. Only the joy, the peculiar kind of ecstatic joy of making things at the point where nothing else is left.

So I think Karl Marx got a lot of things wrong, but one of the things he got right was his idea that cultural values are a reflection of the prevailing economic order, and not the other way around.

I’m often DJing to people who weren’t even born when I put out my first release. But if you’re loving what you’re doing and staying true to what you do then that doesn’t matter. People on the dancefloor don’t give a shit when you were born or how long you’ve been around.

The American dream – that everyone has equal opportunity – became a fiction long before Trump,” she says. “Americans don’t hate the rich, as they imagine they could become the rich. They don’t want high taxes as they think they could become rich and won’t want to pay them. But what they dream of is an increasingly unbelievable fantasy.

Most people in the Instagram world spend very little time looking at a lot of images, maybe liking them, maybe not. But getting close to pictures, spending real time with them, makes the good ones that much more interesting.

First in a series titled #memorialtowhat in which I will photograph the people and landscape along the #memorialdrive corridor in #atlanta #georgia. My dad helped me title the series. I live along Memorial Drive and have long been intrigued by life on this road. Neglected for many years, development looks set to begin changing sections of this roadway significantly for the first time in decades. Memorial runs from the Georgia State Capitol eastward 15 miles through #atl to #stonemountain where the #confederateflag still flies. The location of #klukluxklan re-establishment in 1915 and where the likeness of #confederate figures Jackson, Lee and Davis loom, carved into the bare quartz mountain, larger than life. The title asks a vague and somewhat naive question. History is complex and sometimes ugly. Living inside of that history, we're often not asking many questions. (at Atlanta, Georgia)
Posting my first photo in a long time. It’s an older one, hopefully there’s new work to come soon.
"In the old days," Trump added, protesters would be "carried out on stretchers."

It's not really what I think, It's what I see. I let the street speak to me.

The basic impulse of any art is formal. If not, it should be, for the basic purpose of art is to make form from chaos, to give the artist's raw material shape.

that picture that looks like you were incredibly lucky that you just stumbled across it, even though you spent so much time making it.
