Filmmaker’s Biography: W is a passionate storyteller who is always trying to find new ways to express ideas. Growing up in Coquitlam, BC, W always had the enthusiasm to constantly learn different techniques to express ideas. Starting out in 2D Animation, W gleaned all that he could from the medium before switching over to 3D Animation to continue making animation. Since 2016, W has been making his own animation shorts and films, and has also been part of many others every year. He is excited about what the industry will bring as he enters it and hopes to continue making independent films on the side.

Artists Statement: I love to tell stories. This is reflected in my 2D and 3D animation work, which always carries a strong narrative element. My ideas usually bloom from facets of my personal life—I am often inspired by my close friends and family, and obstacles I have faced in the past in turn encourage me to always continue learning. This film, as others can also relate, is inspired by my relationship with my parents and how it doesn’t conform to the family cliche usually represented in Media by exploring nuances in these characters.

Motion Blur Test

Rerendered with the motion vector aov and added the motion blur with the vectorblur node in nuke.

Cornea Test

No cornea: Doesn’t catch reflection as well. No round curve along edge of eye.

Default cornea: Catches reflection but white area gets overexposed

Thin walled cornea: Catches reflection and still keeps white area at a decent value
