Fic Rec Friday, week 31
Happy Friday, frans! We made it through another week and this neverending January is almost over.
I'm so grateful that we have Schitt's Creek, both the show and the fandom, to escape into when the real world feels hard and overwhelming. I'll forever be thankful to Dan Levy for the wonderful world and characters he created and that it's brought me to all of you.
This week, let's recommend our favorite fanworks that feature magic/magical realism and we can all escape together to a world where magic is real and there's always a happy ending.
Here are my recommendations to get us started.
Familiar Spirits by sasstrick This story combines soulmates with magic (witches), both of which I absolutely adore. This version of David is gorgeous and I love the dynamic between him and Patrick. There is also a fantastic sequel: Nothing More Certain.
Fate is Kind When You Wish by @januarium David wishes on a star and can hear Patrick's thoughts. It's so perfectly written and such an amazing version of the mind reading trope. Patrick's internal thoughts versus what he says out loud are my favorite part.
Bloom by @a-noble-dragon I am a sucker for soulmate fics and this one is perfect. David and Patrick's awe and joy is so palpable and the flower choices are spot on, but I would expect no less from our resident gardening expert.
