My fascination with prison started when I was 14 years old. I saw the movie Cool Hand Luke and it changed me. It aroused an intense desire for the guards, the inmates and the environment.
I was a north shore Chicago suburban kid. So, in the 1970s, we still dressed for dinner and were quite formal. I craved the dirty workwear and meals on metal trays.

Years later, I did what many of us do, and saw a therapist for several issues including coming out as gay, dealing with elderlycparents as an only child and other life stressors. The therapist told me that, because I was very Type A in personality and in a stressful career, that prison represented a vacation to me.
Prison directs what you eat, what you wear, when you sleep, when you work. The list is endless and, to me, it was a mental vacation. Couple that with an all male environment and presto, my fascination was born!
So, for me, the criminality did not factor into it. The power exchange is definetely important. And yes, it has also become erotic over the years.
