"It's nothing." He giggles, though it didn't seem like Crea was going to linger on the meaning, anyway. "Eating the pickle from the inside, huh? That'd certainly be a first if I ever saw it. Though, you'd have to leave some veeery tiny rocks in there!" He laughs, before giving a nod.
"Yeah... I get what you mean. I never even tried to sit in a hole before, until you convinced me to." Though if he ever got covered in dirt as much as Crea did, his parents wouldn't be too happy.... "... I see you've dug some hole digging today. You must have made a big one to get covered in so much dirt like that! I can give you some of my clothes after you wash up..."
“It’s okay! I like the dirt. When there’s too much dirt I’ll jump into the river and then sleep on the grass. That way my clothes dry in the sun,” he explained, happily, putting his shovel against a tree. “I did dig a big hole today! It was great for napping. Tee-tan can nap in it too, and… Oh.” He seemed to remember something else.
“Does Tee-tan like apples? I found a really big apple tree! The apples there are very yummy. I want Tee-tan to try it, too.”
@gakkougifted / CONTINUATION.
“Idiom?” he asked, with no clue what that word meant. Not that he lingered on that, beaming at what his friend said next. “I’ll eat the pickle too! From the inside. Maybe we can make a secret hideout in the pickle. Then me and Tee-tan can have a place to put our favorite rocks in! It’s less nervous when you sit in a small hole. I like sitting in holes.” And digging them, if the way he was holding a shovel was any indication. His shirt and jacket had dirt all over them, too.
He wasn't sure what kind of response he was expecting from Crea, all Kamui knew was that he didn't know what to say in return. Hues of blue going just a little wider when listening to the other. Shock showing itself on his face when the other kissed his forehead. It wasn't often that he'd see Crea looking sad like that.
Has he ever? Definitely not.
He was so happy-go-lucky all the time. It always seemed genuine too. The child's words really tugged at the older Yato's heartstrings, as Kamui bites down on his bottom lip pretty hard. His work was dangerous, so who's to say when he'd end up dying. Although, he didn't want to tell Crea that. Being told by a child that they wanted to protect him, really gave Kamui some conflicted feelings.
''Hey. . . .'' His fingers brush through Crea's hair gently, as he stroked his head. There was a saddened look on Kamui's face, ''It's a big bro's job to protect his little bro, I'm really strong. Stronger than back when I couldn't protect my own mom either. . . .'' He decided to confess.
Lips gently pressed against the child's forehead, ''Don't. . . worry about stuff like that. You'll always make me happy and you'll always make me smile, you're a really good kid. I'm sure you'll get really, really strong when you grow up.''
His hands held onto the other’s as he brushed his head, looking up at Kamui curiously. “Is Ka-mui’s mom not there anymore?” he asked, blinking when the Yato kissed his forehead. The kiss felt nice. He closed his eyes, lingering in it for a moment. “…Is that why Ka-mui looks a little lonely, sometimes?”
Like just now. He opened his eyes to look at Kamui again, before reaching up over his shoulders to hug the other. His grip was tight, and he shook his head to rub against the side of the Yato’s head in a soothing gesture. “Just because Ka-mui is older and stronger doesn’t mean it’s okay when he gets ouchies. Even if Ka-mui doesn’t want to talk about his ouchies, I want Ka-mui to feel a little warm around where his ouchies are, because Ka-mui always makes me feel all warm in my heart.”
''. . . . . . ?'' Kamui was always the type that was quick to read people, but it wasn't hard to notice something was off when Crea got really quiet. Was it when Kamui mentioned his mother? Maybe he got too comfortable, and should've kept it to himself. Although, it's not like he mentioned anything else about her during their friendship.
Wait, maybe he's overthinking this. . . . . That was an extremely bad habit. Kamui cared about Crea a lot though, so the possibility of making the kid uncomfortable made the Yato anxious.
Maybe Crea didn't feel comfortable receiving forehead kisses?
Actually, maybe he should just ask, instead of assuming.
Kamui's face does express worry when seeing the child smile at him, but it ends up softening a little. ''Sure, but. . . . did I say anything that upset you?'' He cautiously questions, when staring back at Crea.
''We're friends, but you can also. . . if you want, consider me a big bro you can rely on. Although, maybe I'm not the best big brother but I wanna try to be with you.''
“Upset me?” he asked, tilting his head at the other. What Kamui said next seemed to make him pause, though, glancing down at nothing in particular, his smile a little sad, now.
“…Ka-mui is really nice,” he mumbled, slowly leaning the side of his head against the other’s chest, closing his eyes to listen to his heart. “I don’t want… anything bad to happen to Ka-mui.” He stayed like that for a moment, before opening his eyes to reach out to the other’s face, giving the Yato a kiss on the forehead. That sad smile was no longer there as he faced the other.
“Ka-mui is the best big-bro-friend to me! I want to get strong so I can protect Ka-mui, too. I was too little when my mom and dad went away, so I couldn’t protect them, but I will get stronger so I can protect Ka-mui! I want Ka-mui to be happy and have cute smiles, because Ka-mui is very important to me.”
@5isms ask continued
''It is kind of weird they'll name a holiday after a color, huh? Hehe. . .'' Kamui couldn't help a little laugh from coming out of him, this planet was really interesting in so many different ways. Crea was surely one of the more interesting beings Earth created though. Kamui was unable to not reciprocate that smile on Crea's face when he expressed being satisfied from just seeing the older Yato. This kid had a really good heart, didn't he?
''You think hugs are better than chocolate? I'll give you one then.'' He wrapped his arms around the young boy tightly, though took caution to not harm him. ''I can also give you the kisses my mom used to give me on the forehead, would you like that?'' Kamui questioned curiously.
''I really like seeing you too by the way, since hanging around you is a nice break from everything.''
Crea seemed delighted at the hug, trying to hug Kamui back just as tightly with a giggle. He got uncharacteristically quiet after that, though, simply clinging to the back of the other’s shirt with his face buried in his chest.
“…Ka-mui is really nice,” he murmured, after a bit. “And Ka-mui’s hugs are nice, too. They make me feel safe. I want to be strong so I can make Ka-mui feel safe, too.” Then, looking up at the other with a smile, “I’m glad Ka-mui’s mom gives him kisses. I think Ka-mui deserves a lot of kisses. Can I give Ka-mui kisses on the forehead, too?”
''Hey Crea. . . . . do you know anything about White Day?'' Kamui would question him curiously, while sitting next to him. He definitely wasn't knowledgeable on every Earth holiday. Especially something like White Day.
''I wanted to know if I needed to get you more gifts. Although, I can just get something anyway, since we're friends.'' He calls him that rather proudly now, really happy over it even. Although, Kamui found it odd that a lot of holidays involved gift giving. Almost as if this was a way to take advantage of the consumer to make money. Very suspicious.
''I think everyone was getting chocolate, would you like that? Or maybe something better!''
“White Day…? Woah, I didn’t know days had colors.” Yeah, no, he definitely had no idea what White Day was. The mention of the two of them being friends made his face visibly brighten, though, a big smile settling on his face. No matter how many times the other mentioned that, it always seemed to have that same effect on him.
“I like Ka-mui! I don’t need gifts. It makes me happiest when I see Ka-mui,” he told the other, happily — the Yato’s company was the best gift he could ask for, is what he was basically trying to say. “Is today chocolate day again? There was another chocolate day a lot of days ago. Some aunties and uncles were giving kisses to each other near the shops. It’s nice that they all like each other.” Not quite, but that’s what his mind registered it as with his limited comprehension. Still, he tilted his head at the other’s offer. “Something better than chocolate…? Like hugs and stuff?”
Kamui had dropped by and paid Crea a visit as he does every so often. He was carrying a container, and a plastic bag on his forearm. ''Hey Crea ~!'' He happily greets him with a smile, ''I know humans celebrate... Christmas and all that.... so here's some gifts.''
He crouched down to his height, holding out the container. ''I baked you a cake myself, hopefully you like it? I know you prefer eating. . . . dirt but. . . . maybe you could try something sweet that I made.'' Kamui would tease, hopefully the child wouldn't mind his gift.
''You can share it with whoever you want, or keep it for yourself. I don't really mind either since it's yours. It's strawberry flavored, with chocolate frosting.'' After giving him the cake, he took out what was in the bag he was holding. Which was a scarf with a few pictures of bugs on it.
''I wasn't sure if you'd like this, but I think you mentioned catching bugs sometimes.... if you don't want it, I can find something else?'' Kamui says with a little head tilt, he kind of hoped his gifts weren't bad. He didn't know TOO much about Crea after all, at least not yet. ''I would've dropped by sooner, if I hadn't been so busy with work. I apologize.''
( Hi, i hope you don't mind me sending this haha. )
UNPROMPTED. / ALWAYS WELCOME
Crea’s eyes seemed to light up when they spotted the Yato, eagerly standing up from where he’d been crouched over staring at a trail of ants. He watched as the other offered the gifts to him with a blink, tilting his head back at Kamui for a moment, taking a bit to register what he was being told. When he finally did, though, it was like his face was twinkling with pure excitement, not sure where to start.
“Wo… woah! Woah, it’s for me? Ka-mui’s cake?? And… woah,” he breathed out in awe, at a loss for words. “Ka-mui buyed me a scarf, and cooked me a cake. I didn’t know Ka-mui can make cakes! That’s so cool. Can I really have Ka-mui’s cake? And a bug scarf. I never saw a bug scarf before! Bug scarfs are so cool. How did Ka-mui find a bug scarf?” Yeah no, his emotions were all over the place, not sure whether to focus on the cake or the scarf first. His whole body was restless, like he wanted to put the cake down and start bouncing around.
Which he did — he placed the cake down, but to go cling onto the other’s sleeve instead. “This is so cool. I don’t know what to do. Why is Ka-mui giving me gifts for Crumsas? Crus… Cri-is-mas. Can I really have the cake and the scarf? I want to eat the cake with Ka-mui. Can I eat the cake with Ka-mui?”
@polycephebi / CONTINUATION.
“Yeah! Beetles are really cool. They’re big and they’re hard to catch! I’m good at catching them, though, especially now that I have a net,” he chatted away, pointing at the net on the grass beside him. Seems like he got excited when the other said he shared his liking for lying on grass. “I don’t have a bug box to put them in, so I release them after. Do you like bugs, too?”
@0isms asked:
crea is handing kamui a bunch of rocks and a stick. that’s his gift for him you’re welcome
Give my muse an item, see how they react.
Kamui would take a few moments to blink down at what was placed in his hand, before stifling a laugh. ''Pff. . . .'' He wasn't even upset, the way Crea thinks was amusing. He was such an odd ball, but in a likable way.
''Couldn't give me something I could at least eat?'' He'd pause after saying that, when remembering something.
''Hold on, you do consider dirt to be edible so maybe you'd eat these things too.'' Naturally, he was just teasing the kid. Although, Kamui was concerned over his dietary habits. ''I have to say though. . . . not a fan of eating stuff like this.
“Haha, you can’t eat rocks, Ka-mui! Even the shiny ones don’t taste good.” So he did try to eat them, at some point. “I can bring you apples to eat next time. These aren’t for eating.”
“This is Tete,” he explained to the other, tugging his hand closer to point at one of the rocks in it, before moving on to the next one, “and this is Toto. That cube one’s name is Gray because it’s very gray, and the last one there is Rocket! They’re all pet rocks.” Finally, he pointed at the stick. “The stick doesn’t have a name. I just thought it was a nice stick so I gave it to you.”
What Crea did, caught him by surprise. He ends up staring at him, blinking for a few moments. What an odd kid, Kamui couldn't even be mad over what he did. There was good intention behind his actions, no doubt about that.
''Thanks, now I have saliva on my hand.'' There was a playfulness to his words at least, hoping the other didn't think he was, actually mad. He would wipe his hand on his pants though to get the saliva off.
''I'm sure they'll all. . . .'' Kamui abruptly goes silent when seeing the child point at his chest, his smile fades into a frown. There was suddenly a lump in his throat too.
''Crea, how about. . . . we talk about something else? Your friend isn't really a fan of talking about 'ouchies' and whatnot. . .'' Kamui got uncomfortable, but that really wasn't Crea's fault.
He forces a smile back on his face,''I really like being with you too though, you're a lot of fun.''
“You-‘r welcome,” he replied happily, the sarcasm in the ‘thanks’ going over his head. “I made sure to put lots of power in the kiss to make the boo-boos go away! I heard an auntie say that kissing with tongue is better than normal kisses.” Seems like his mind interpreted that as blowing raspberries. Probably for the best.
At Kamui’s request not to talk about the ‘ouchies’, he tilted his head at the other again, before silently going back to sitting beside him, this time leaning against the other’s arm and picking at the loose threads in his clothes. “It’s okay if Ka-mui doesn’t like to talk about ouchies,” he told him, “it’s not nice to talk about ouchies. I’ll stay here with Ka-mui anyway. It’s more not-nice to have ouchies alone.”
@5isms asked:
“Why does Ka-mui have so many bandages?” He’d been sitting next to the Yato on the ground, before he suddenly crawled over to hold the other’s hand curiously. Now he was toying with the other’s fingers in thought. “Do you have lots of boo-boos here?”
Crea was definitely not afraid to share anything on his mind. A child's innocence was something to be envious of, if he's being honest. Hues of sapphire stare down at the child's hand as he toyed with Kamui's fingers. ''Pff. . . .'' Fondness finds itself on his face, holding back a laugh.
''You know. . . . I get asked this a lot.'' People were always curious, given that most of the time he does keep his hands covered in bandages.
''They help with fighting, and well. . . . they are, funny enough, to hide injuries from fights. Since. . . .'' Kamui paused, as if mulling over what to tell him.
''Don't want to worry anyone, right?'' Briefly, he parts his hand from Crea's to unwrap the hand he was holding. ''It's okay though, because I heal really fast. Can't even tell I was in any fights. ~♪'' Kamui beamed, showing his hand was completely devoid of any kind of marks.
Huh. Maybe that was a bit too honest. . . .
He stared at the other’s hand, then took it into his own hands again. Looking up at Kamui thoughtfully, he tilted his head, then went back to examining the hand, before deciding to blow a raspberry on it out of the blue.
“There. Just to make sure the boo-boos go away.” Apparently that raspberry was meant to be a kiss. To kiss the other’s ‘boo-boos’ away, is what he was trying to say. “Ka-mui is so strong and cool, so he doesn’t need kisses to make the skin ouchies go away! There are other types of ouchies, though. Like here.” He pointed at the Yato’s chest. “I think Ka-mui might need kisses for those ouchies. I’m not very good at kissing ouchies yet, but I’ll train hard to be strong enough to kiss those away, because Ka-mui is my friend. Ka-mui always makes my ouchies go away, too! I like being with Ka-mui.”
His body froze when the child decides to grab his face, hues of sapphire went wide. Crea really was kind of an idiot, but there was an odd happiness that came from his words. Kamui wasn't sure why, he took pride in terrifying others. He liked making others suffer in fights. His hands were soaked in the blood of countless people, both human and not. Yet, this child's attitude brought about this strange feeling.
Kamui would stand up, feeling a lump in his throat. Was he getting a little emotional? Maybe. He hated these kinds of feelings. Kamui went ahead and gave Crea a pat on the head, smiling more genuine than usual
''You're kind of a weirdo, but I guess that's not really a bad thing.'' Amusement filled his voice, ''How about I buy you your own then? I'll see if I can find any that's the same color as mine.''
Hands rest on his own hips, pondering what to do with Crea since just talking here would be a waste given how excited he was to see his spaceship. ''Before you leave, wanna see the deck? We can fly for a little while before I take you back home.''
Noticing Kamui’s smile, his face immediately brightens in delight, and he chuckles to himself like there was an inside joke to be had there — and there was; that was the smile he was talking about earlier, after all. It made him happy to see it.
“I want to match umbrella colors with Ka-mui!” he told the other in agreement, though something about what the other said made him pause momentarily. Whatever it was, it got quickly disregarded once the Yato suggested they go see the deck.
“Deck?” he parroted, not sure what the word meant, but the next suggestion made him bounce on his heels in pure excitement. “I want to see Ka-mui’s ship flying! Woah, I never flew before. I wonder what it’s like.” Almost automatically, he went to hold the other’s hand, seeming to have gotten the impression that they needed to hold hands to move around the ship. “How did it feel the first time you flew?”
When the child waved at Abuto, he returned the gesture finding the kid to be pretty endearing. He would observe Crea and Kamui, since seeing his commander like this can be pretty rare. Overhearing Crea, after what Kamui revealed to him made the vice commander look amused with a hand on his hip.
''Good job kid, you actually managed to make the scariest guy in the galaxy trust you.''
Kamui was actively getting more pissed off by him, ''Don't you have something you need to be doing? Leave, or I'll make sure you'll need another prosthetic arm.'' Any threat from him was very much serious, if Kamui was pushed enough. It at least got his vice commander to shrug his shoulders and leave. That made Kamui sigh in relief. Although, he had been hoping Crea would forget about his sister being brought up if he mentioned something more interesting but that seemed to not be the case.
He rubbed the back of his head awkwardly, ''Uh. . . . .''
Maybe being honest wouldn't hurt. . . . ''Yeah, I have a little sister. . . she also needs an umbrella too. The annoying guy that just left needs one as well. Pretty much all of us do.''
Tilting his head, he seemed to be considering what the other guy said before he left, then looked back at the Yato crouched in front of him. With pretty much no hesitation, he grabbed the other’s face. “Ka-mui is not scary,” he told Kamui, “Ka-mui is strong, and has a pretty smile!”
“I like it when Ka-mui has a small smile on his face! I think it’s very cute,” he said, straight to the so-called scariest guy in the galaxy’s face. “Hehe, I did think Ka-mui acted like a big brother sometimes. I guess it’s because you have a little sister.” Finally letting the other’s face go, he looked around in wonder. “Maybe I should get an umbrella too, so we can match! That way I can give you mine if you lose yours, too.”
He gave him a long, hard stare. He was sure he wasn't going to be able to sleep peacefully that night. Knowing they were adults was a fucking curse at this point.
He sighed, mentally tired more than anything.
"You are going to fall asleep before me" he said, reaching out to stroke Crea's hair - With unusual gentleness, something he offered to no one else.
“I’ll protect you even if I fall asleep! Like this.” Now he was hugging the other even tighter, completely oblivious to the other’s predicament. At least he wasn’t denying that he was probably going to be the first to fall asleep, suppressing a smiley yawn and closing his eyes. Ross’ hand gently combing through his hair was making him sleepy. “I’ll make a wish that Shi-tan has the best dream today…”
This child has so much energy, and such pure curiosity. It was hard to not just grin over it, Crea seemed so intrigued by anything Kamui would say it seemed like. ''I guess I don't have to worry about you spilling my secret then.'' He tries to not laugh as he jokingly says that.
Kamui blinked for a few moments down at the kid when he felt his bandaged hand being taken, there wasn't an ounce of fear when this child looked at him. Ever. Since they met, it's been like this. . . .
Thinking about it now, he may get made fun of if he brings this kid with him to his ship. Although, he already offered. The thought of disappointing or upsetting him. . . . Kamui wasn't too fond of it. He may have gotten too attached.
''Sure.'' He'd say simply with a smile, keeping a firm hold on Crea's hand. He couldn't help his awkwardness. Kamui went ahead and brought Crea with him to where his ship was parked, it resembled ones were used for the ocean, except. . . . it flew into space. The size was pretty large.
''Here we are. ~♪'' The older Yato announces in a sing-song tone, ''Watch your step when coming inside.'' Kamui made sure to keep a hold on his hand though when they'd go inside.
''Commander, do you miss your sister so much that you went ahead and found another kid to hang around you?'' The words of his vice commander makes him freeze, and he'd shoot him a glare given the smug look he was making. He closed his umbrella, and slipped it into the bag he carries on his lower back. Then Kamui crouched down to look at Crea,
''Okay, like I said before. I'll tell you about the secret.'' He says with a smile, then leaning in near his ear to whisper into it. ''We use umbrellas because we have a really bad weakness. So bad, we could get sick if we're not careful.''
It wasn't fully the truth, but . . . revealing that they could die seemed a bit depressing to confess to a child.
“Woah…” Arriving at the ship got him staring at it in complete awe, the eagerness to get inside written all over his face. He held onto the other’s hand tightly as they boarded the ship, but there was a little bounce in his steps that suggested he would’ve been running all over the place had he not had the Yato’s hand in his — a rush of hyperactivity.
He stopped once he heard the unfamiliar voice, though, turning to the unknown person, before grinning and waving his free hand at him excitedly. What the guy said seemed to grab his attention, but his thoughts were momentarily interrupted when the Yato shared his secret with him, causing him to gasp. “Ka-mui would get sick without his umbrella?” he whispered back, or tired to, but it wasn’t very quiet. His whisper would probably be heard by anyone near them. “I’ll make sure Ka-mui has an umbrella all the time, then! Does your sister have an umbrella too? I didn’t know you had a sister.”
He lay down beside him, where he was instructed, but his movements in doing so were too mechanical, unnatural.
He was as tense as a fucking brick.
Please, someone kill him and end his suffering.
"If you're going to hug me, do it now" he said as a sign of surrender, giving himself over to something close to his death. At least he no longer rejected Crea in terms of physical proximity, even in a situation like this. "Don't forget to cover us both with the blanket, catching a cold isn't an option."
“Okay!” He sure didn’t need to be told twice, cuddling up to Ross like it’s second nature. It felt very comforting to him, having the other right beside him — an almost comedic contrast to Ross’ tension. At the instruction to pull up the blanket, he did exactly that, before going back to clinging to the other with a contented sigh. “It’s okay Shi-tan, I’ll protect you from colds and grasshopper-nightmares. You can go to sleep feeling safe!”
