You asked, I'm in the process of answering.
The first installment of my official It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia tour guide! Because a good one just... doesn't exist for some reason?
Paddy's Pub - 228 Race St
The actual facade is located in Los Angeles, however this is Philly's nod to Sunny. Not too much likeness to the show on the inside other than harsh overhead lighting, but it's obviously a must-visit.
Fun fact: In S17 E3 "Mac and Dennis Become EMTs," the first call they take is at Second and Race. That's where Paddy's is located! A fun little nod to our local gem.
Bleu Martini - 24 S Second St - S4 E7 "Who Pooped The Bed?"
Probably not where I would send you for a cosmo but I'm not your mom!
Macâs Tavern - 226 Market St - Rob and Kaitlinâs old bar
Just closed its doors this month but if you wanna see where it used to be, there you have it.
Dave & Busters - 325 N Christopher Columbus Blvd - "The Great Recession"
I donât have anything to say here. Please donât go eat at the D&Bs.
Benjamin Franklin Bridge - 211 N Christopher Columbus Blvd - "The Great Recession," intro
The pier has been upgraded in a serious way lol. Be sure to check out Cherry Street Pier for local art, food, beer. Morgan's Pier for a night out (but also maybe not. Itâs a lot). Penn Treaty Park for some green space :)
Fun-ish? fact: the dilapidated red brick building behind them in this scene is now a restaurant that serves $15 espresso martinis and has a $20 cover for dancing. Times they are a-changin'.
The Italian Market - S Ninth & Montrose St - S5 E2 "The Gang Hits The Road"
Great produce, bakeries, and of course, Italian food. Hit up Good's Vintage for vintage clothing and more it's one of my favs
Anthony's - 903 S Ninth St - S1 E1 "The Gang Gets Racist"
Great coffee but oh my god the gelato...
Mac and Dennisâs Apartment - 903 S Ninth St - Above Anthonyâs. S/o @fangedphillygrrrl for the intel!
Dee's Apartment - 916 Montrose St - unk.
I'll be fully transparent and say this isn't the facade I recognize as her apartment, but Iâve read that this was used in the show. If you recognize it, let me know where from.
Reading Terminal Market - 1136 Arch St - S6 E8 "The Gang Gets A New Member
The restaurant they're eating at doesn't exist anymore BUT so worth a trip to Reading always. Personal recs are: Herschel's for a pastrami sandwich, Beiler's for a donut, Miller's twist because you can't miss out on a Philly pretzel... or literally anything else in there.
Love Park - 1501 John F Kennedy Blvd - Duh
There will be a line for pictures. Plan accordingly.
City Hall - 1 S Penn Square - S17 E7 "The Golden Bachelor Live" and many cut scenes
Logan Square - 200 Logan Square - S4 E9 "Dennis Reynolds: An Erotic Life" and S9 E1 "The Gang Broke Dee,â intro
As evidenced in the picture, water is a hit or a miss. Literally no way to predict it was on last week so take that for what it's worth lol.
Philadelphia Museum of Art - 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway - S1 E4 "Charlie Has Cancer"
Ugh I cry
Sister Cities Cafe - 18th & Benjamin Franklin Parkway - S9 E8 "Flowers for Charlie"
Boathouse Row - 1 Boathouse Row - S1 E4 "Charlie Has Cancer,â intro
Gorgeous walk! You won't be able to see the boathouse lights as seen in the title card because that view is from across the Schuykill. Drive MLK drive or 76 to get that view.
Helium Comedy Club - 2031 Sansom St - S9 E1 "The Gang Broke Dee"
I've seen some pretty good acts here definitely worth checking out.
Rittenhouse Square - 1800 Walnut St - S2 E2 "The Gang Goes Jihad"
So so gorgeous year round. Highly recommend a picnic if the weather's nice! Please do not take a picture with Philly Spider Man unless you want to pay him.
Rob and I's favorite cheesesteaks are at Jim's - 400 South St. He would tell you to order wit wiz. I would not. Wit cooper sharp ALLLL the way. Please trust me here. Extra coop if you have a stomach of steel. Cash only (as are a lot of places in Philly) so come prepared.
To the best of my knowledge, Philadelphia Java Company (The Waitress' coffee shop) is closed. There's a new location at 852 S 2nd St. Don't quote me on this please.
In S13 E1 "The Gang Makes Paddy's Great Again," Mac is wearing a Doc Street Brewing t-shirt. That's in Fishtown - 1229 N Front St.
The rest of the intro locations are: Market St sign at Pennâs Landing, 30th St Station, South Street (right outside of South Street Souvlaki), and Lincoln Financial Field. Go Birds.
In S1 E4 âGun Feverâ, Charlie mentions Deeâs new boyfriend dated the waitress at Dirty Frankâs - 347 S 13th St. Great dive, cash only, highly recommend.
Last fun fact is that Macâs childhood home in the show is Robâs actual childhood home located in Pennsport! Seen in S3 E10 âMac is a Serial Killer,â S3 E11 âDennis Looks Like a Registered Sex Offender,â and S5 E13 âA Very Sunny Christmas.â Itâs been torn down and completely redone.
Iâm working on Bonnie Kellyâs address because I do think the facade is in Philly. Watch this space.
Philly is one of the most walkable cities in the US!!! Iâd highly recommend walking or taking the train. Our public transit is currently going through a funding crisis so any $$$ you wanna throw at it is a blessing to us locals <3
