Being Transgender in 2016

Being trans in this day and age is not only difficult, but will literally drive you insane. Every aspect of your life becomes public, and you no longer have privacy. Suddenly, the size, shape, and form of your genitalia becomes everyone’s business. Suddenly, the only thing that makes you valid in this world is your ability to conform to society’s idea of “normal”. Suddenly, your sexuality becomes a dinner table topic, and no one actually seems to care what you tell them because somehow your gender is connected to your sexuality and everyone seems to know who and what you are. You loose friends, even family, and at the end of the day you are left stripped, alone, and hating yourself. So, if you are reading this, please take the time to consider what I have said here. And if you, like me, are transgender or gender nonconforming, take a look at yourself in the mirror and don’t stop until you can say “I am beautiful,” and truly mean it.
