First look at Nike's concept art from Extra Credits with Athena!

Like in Greek mythology, Nike is one of Athena's closest friends. She's also one of the star athletes of Olympus University, where she excels in track and field.

Nike has a confident, sporty, go-getter attitude towards everything in life — except when someone mentions her not-so-secret crush on Professor Poseidon, at which point she melts into a puddle.

Her design is largely inspired by the outfits worn by female track and field athletes today, combined with elements of her own depictions in classical art.

The golden laurel crown reflects the ancient Greek tradition of awarding wreaths to victors at the Olympics, while the wing motifs reference her own namesake as the Winged Goddess of Victory.

56 years ago today, Black Panther leader and revolutionary Fred Hampton was assassinated in his bed by Chicago police and the FBI. He was 21 years old.

Fred Hampton’s legacy lives on in every effort to care for our communities and stand up for justice. As a leader in the Black Panther Party, he helped build programs that fed children, supported families, and united people across race and class. He showed what it means to serve the people with courage and love. Even though his life was cut short at 21, the impact of his work continues to inspire those who fight for liberation today
