Hi! So I'm I was wondering if I could request a Mafia! Au reaction to their s/o trying to run away
Hello! Thank you for sending in a request~
In Yongguk’s case, as cold of an exterior as he has, I think even mafia leader Yongguk would still be soft for you, and only you. He would be less concerned about you wanting to run off and more concerned about whether you were safe. especially, if people knew you were together. The reason he would want to keep you would be purely for your safety. Sure, he would be upset that you were trying to leave him, but his ultimate fear is you ending up dead. And he’d do anything to keep you out of harm’s way.
Himchan would most certainly react badly. Mafia leader Himchan is all business, no play. Your his, you stay his. If he can’t have you, no one else can. He’d catch you before you could even make it out of B.A.P’s hideout. He’d bombard you with questions, asking who could treat you better than him? What man would be better than Kim fucking Himchan. He’d lose his trust in you for awhile, and might even end up locking you away till he knew you could be trusted again.
Daehyun would react similarly to Himchan, maybe even more angry. He’d scream his head off at you the moment he catches you trying to sneek off. Screaming at the top of his lungs he would claim to lock you away forever, but in all reality, it’d probably only be a few hours. Mafia leader Daehyun is rash when his emotions are invested in something, and if he’s in love with you, you running off is going to hurt him to his core. He’ll be pissed at first, but then, as if a switch has been flipped, he’ll beg you to tell him why you tried to leave and why you don’t love him the way he loves you.
Youngjae would be such a fucking prick with this. Let’s be real here, mafia leader Youngjae is smart as fuck and would know damn well you are going nowhere. Why? His hideout has tons of cameras that he happens to watch on the regular. So the minute he sees you trying to escape, he’ll send off his men to come grab you and bring you back to his room. The next time you see him, he’d have the biggest smirk plastered on his face as he tells you, “Nice try, sweetheart.”
Mafia Jongup has no mercy. Not one ounce of it. Sure, the boy has charm and that’s certainly why you were drawn to him in the first place, but he’s possessive as fuck and he will not tolerate you leaving him. You get caught trying to run off and he’d immediately lock you away and not even say a word. Don’t mess with him. Seriously.
This would be a real point of confusion for new mafia leader Zelo. On the one hand, he wants to be able to give you your freedom and let you be you, even without him. On the other hand, watching his fellow member’s as leaders and seeing them all have someone by their side as a romantic partner, he’d feel obligated to have one as well, which would make him stop you from running off. He’d want to try and talk things out with you. He would be hurt, but he’s level-headed enough not to get angry with you for trying to leave.

From the moment he met you, Kim Himchan knew he’d watch over you for the rest of his life.
Not in strange way, not in an unwanted way.
But in a way that showed he cared, in a way that showed how much he loved you without using words.
You’d met him at a bar. It seemed so unromantic to all your friends when you’d first told them.
“I met this amazing guy last weekend! He bought me a drink and we talked for hours!”
“Amazing guy? ___, you picked him up at a bar. He probably just wants too hook-up with you.”
You’d taken their advice cordially at the time, for your heart knew they couldn’t be right. You just knew deep in your soul that he was different.
You knew it from the way his eyes held your gaze like it was the only thing in the world.
You knew it from the moment you felt his hand gently brush up against yours; sparking a million bolts of electricity to rush through your body.
You knew it when you noticed he remembered every last detail of everything you said, even if it wasn’t important.
You knew he was the one for you.
And he too, knew it from the start.
He was worried, at first, admittedly. His job was dangerous. Associating with a hitman was dangerous. Part of him wanted to push you away for the sake of your own safety.
But in the end, the selfish half of him couldn’t let you go, no matter how hard he tried.
So he promised himself that if he couldn’t let you go, he’d devote his life to making sure you were safe. Making sure that you were happy and unharmed. Always.
He made sure every man who dared to threaten you was gotten rid of. He made sure you got home safe every night. He spoiled you with fancy dinners and luxurious gifts that any girl would be infatuated with.
He viewed himself as your caretaker, your protector.
But little did he realize that you were watching over him too. That you were just as much his caretaker as he was to you.
It was hidden in the way you’d come over to his office and bring him food when he forgot to eat.
It was hidden in the way you always ironed his suits when he forgot to get them dry cleaned.
It was hidden in the way you always noticed when he need to a break.
“Himchan,” your voice softly cut through the sound of his keyboard clicking away one night at nearly four in the morning, “You need to go to bed.”
“I’m fine, darling,” he smiled at you with eyes that showed how little sleep he’d gotten over the week, “There are too many important things to be taken care. You go back to bed now.”
You stood there at the door frame watching him continue his work. You hated it. You hated how much he pushed himself to the edge for the sake of his job; for the sake of you.
“Himchan I’m serious,” you crossed your arms, watching as his head slowly turned away from his screen.
“I can’t stand watching you wear yourself out like this. You need to rest every once and a while.”
“Darling, I can’t. Yongguk is depending on me to find information on this one guy and I-“
“Himchan,” you walked over to him, wrapping your arms around his shoulders and burying your face in his neck, “Please…for me. Get some rest. Watching you suffer hurts me as much as it hurts you.”
He sighed, his hand gently rubbing your arm, “Alright darling, I’ll put it away for now.”
He slowly got up from his chair, his body feeling heavy and weak; every sleep deprived night seeming to hit him all at once.
A yawn passed his lips as he threw an arm over your shoulder and lead you to the bedroom you shared with him
He didn’t hesitate to change into some sweats while you climbed into bed, promptly joining you afterwards.
He rolled over to face you, your eyes meeting his. You noticed his languid blinks and dark circles seducing him into slumber the minute his head hit the pillow.
“Thank you for getting me out of my office,” you heard his weak voice push out, as he slowly began to drift off. “Thank you for looking out for me.”
You smiled, leaning in to give him a gentle kiss on the cheek.
“No need to thank me,” you whispered to him in his half-sleeping state, “It’s my job to watch out for you.”
Your Skydive Au! are beautifully written 😭. Hopefully you finish soon. I'll make sure to request anytime soon. If you want to request or talk, then you can always message me 😊 good luck in all your future requests and writing ❤️
Aw, thank you so much for your kind words! Thank you for reading my stories! I plan to work on Himchan’s chapter next and I hope to have the rest of the member’s chapters done in the coming weeks! ♡

“____, you need to talk to him. I’m telling you, this isn’t going to fix itself,” your best friend Sooyoung’s eyes bore into you as a constant stream of advice came tumbling out her mouth, “This isn’t healthy!”
She was right and you knew it. You didn’t want to confront the truth, but Sooyoung was facing it head first, whether you liked it or not.
It had been one year since you started dating Bang Yongguk. In the beginning, he seemed so perfect. He was kind and gentle, always putting you before himself. He always listened to you with the utmost attention and never forgot to remind you how beautiful you were.
But at the same time, he never opened up to you. Never. He never talked much about himself, never went into detail about much of anything, especially his job.
Whenever you asked what he did or where he was going, he’d always mumble, brush it off, make some benign excuse about doing “business” internationally and then leave for days. And every single time it left you more confused than the next.
“You guys are getting serious, right?” Sooyoung poured you another shot of soju before taking a swig straight out the bottle.
“I mean, yeah, I guess…isn’t moving in together serious?”
“Of course it is, _____!” she looked at you absolutely bewildered. “Couples moving in together isn’t something they do unless they’re serious!”
“Yeah but I mean it’s not like I wanted to in the first place, hell, he practically begged me to move in with him!”
“And that’s not normal, none of what you’re doing with him is normal, _____! He’s overprotective, he wants you living with him, he wants to know everything about you and yet he doesn’t tell you hardly anything about himself! I know you don’t have that much relationship experience, but Jesus if that isn’t the biggest fucking red flag in the world than I don’t know what it is!”
Sooyoung leaned forward, taking your hand in her’s.
“Look, you’re my best friend. I want what’s best for you. And I know Yongguk acts sweet towards you and I know he takes care of you, but at what point do you realize that he’s hiding something from you? At what point to you put your foot down and stop letting him be so secretive with you?”
You signed, the reality of your fragile relationship weighing down on you, “I know Sooyoung, I know.”
“You need to just speak up,” her voice was much more gentle than before; toning down her usual abrasive nature, “I know you don’t like to provoke things but neither does he. You deserve better than this, you deserve better than to live in the dark like this wondering who he is and who he’s with. Talk to him. Now. Don’t wait any longer.”

When you arrived home that night Yongguk was no where to be seen. In a way you were relived, knowing it bought you some time to figure out just what to say to him.
You made your way to the bathroom and turned on the shower, wanting to rid yourself of the smell of alcohol permeating from your three hour bar trip with Sooyoung.
Stripping down to nothing and stepping into the shower, you let the warm, soothing water tumble down your body. You felt your muscles immediately relax, a sigh of relief passing your lips.
Just talk to him. He’s your boyfriend. He needs to know how you feel.
You repeated the same words over and over in your head. You didn’t understand why you were so nervous. Yongguk was the calmest person you’d ever met. You’d seriously never seen him get angry or raise his voice. Why would he suddenly lose his cool now?
Just as you were about to shut off the shower you heard the sound of the front door opening, signaling the arrival of the man you loved the most, yet feared the most at the same time.
You quickly stepped out and wrapped yourself up in a towel before going into your bedroom and slipping on one of Yongguk’s old sweatshirts.
“____?” You heard Yongguk’s deep voice call out to you.
“I’m in here!” you shouted back, a smile spreading across your face when you saw Yongguk walk in.
“Hi baby girl,” Yongguk beamed, his arms coaxing you into his embrace.
“Hi,” you buried your face in his chest as he planted a kiss on top of your head.
You didn’t want to pull away, inciting a chuckle to pass Yongguk’s lips. To him, that embrace just meant you missed him that day. But to you, it was so much more.
“Gukkie, can we talk about something tonight? I was thinking we could open a bottle of wine, relax a little; it’s really important,” you looked up at him, your hands smoothing out his jacket.
“I’m sorry baby girl, I’m only stopping by for a little bit,” he told you, his hands lightly rubbing your back, “I have some business to take care of tonight.”
There he goes again.
“Oh…well, um, how about I make you some food before you leave? I’m sure you haven’t eaten much today.”
“Don’t worry about it, I’m fine. I gotta get going,” he smiled before making his way to the front door with you quickly following.
“What kind of work do you have to do tonight?” your voice wavered slightly despite knowing all too well he brush it off once again.
“Boring stuff. Office stuff, you know?”
Yeah, I know.
“Oh, well… don’t be too late,” you muttered out, eyes traveling to the ground.
“I’ll try not to be. Stay safe, call me if you need anything, and don’t-“
“Answer the door unless it’s you, I know Yongguk, don’t worry about it.” You cut him off as his lips curled into a gentle smile.
“Get some rest,” he told you, leaning in for a quick kiss, “I love you.”
“I love you too,” you answered, pushing the door closed behind him.
“Ugh,” you groaned, your anxieties and frustrations only getting worse as you slid down onto the ground. Part of you wanted to call him, screaming into the phone about how much you hated the way he never told you anything. Another part of you wanted to just forget it all as long as you could have him sleeping next to you that night.
But the last part, the more bold part of you, wanted to follow him. You wanted to abandon being understanding, abandon being tolerant of his behavior. You wanted to take matters into your own hands.
And that night, that part of you was screaming for you to make a move.
Running into your room and throwing on a pair of jeans and some sneakers, you charged out the door, leaving every last bit of your sanity behind it.
You ran down the stairs and out into the busy streets of Seoul. You knew you needed to be quick if you want to catch up to him.
Swerving through crowds and crowds of people, your adrenaline moved you as your mind began to race. What if he’s with another girl? What if he deals drugs? What if…
Just then you spotted him, walking along the street just like everybody else. You slowed down to keep your distance from him, but still kept up enough to see him.
For awhile everything seemed normal. Nothing out of the ordinary. For once you started to finally feel relieved.
That was until you watched as Yongguk suddenly made a sharp turn into an alleyway.
Your eyes went wide.
What the hell is he doing going down there?
You hesitantly turned down the alleyway, trying to be as careful as possible.
You saw his figure at the end of the alley and decided to duck down behind a trashcan; feeling your entire body tremble as you waited for what would happen next.
For a bit it was quiet. Yongguk simply stood and glanced around the area as you tried your hardest not to make a single noise.
It wasn’t till about five minutes later that you heard footsteps; a group of them towards Yongguk’s direction. You looked up to find three men; one smaller than Yongguk and two larger, all of them covered in tattoos with guns snug in their holsters.
Your hand quickly flew to your mouth as panic set in. Who were these men? Why did they have guns? And most importantly, why the hell were they meeting with Yongguk?
“Mr. Bang,” you heard the shortest of the group bellow out, his voice rough and scratchy. “Do you have what I asked of you?”
“Yes,” Yongguk reached into his coat and pulled out a manila folder, “All the information you wanted dug up on Jung Hyunwoo is there. Bank accounts, internet accounts, phone numbers, everything. I hand over the folder and you give me the money at the same time, deal?”
“My, my, Mr. Bang,” the man replied, his lips curling into a smirk. “You’ve become quite the skilled hitman, haven’t you. I remember the days where you could barely pull the trigger and now you’re killing off men left and right for something as simple as information.”
Your heart stopped.
Your entire world froze.
Hitman?
The man you loved, the man you had given everything to, was out killing people for a living.
The apartment he rented for the two of you, the food he bought every week to eat, the luxurious gifts he gave you just to spoil you; were all paid for by money he got for killing people.
You felt your knees tremble and give out from under you, causing you to be unable to stop yourself from falling over and out into the open.
The sound of your collapse caused everyone to stop what they were doing and look back at you. Your eyes met Yongguk’s as you watched the color drain from his face.
“____!” he shouted, his tough guy image crumbling before you as panic and fear laced his voice.
That’s when you knew you were in trouble.
One of the large men quickly ran over to you and grabbed you, his gun quickly drawn and placed at your temple.
Yongguk immediately drew his weapon as well, pointing it straight at your captor’s head.
“If you so dare touch even a hair on her head I will have all three of you dead in an instant,” Yongguk growled, his body nearly convulsing in anger.
“Well look what we have here,” the leader wandered over to you, reaching out a hand to brush your cheek; causing you to flinch under him. “It looks like our Yonggukie has a little girlfriend, now doesn’t he?”
“Don’t fucking touch her.” Yongguk snarled, his eyes boring into the leader’s back. “Just tell me what you want, okay? Tell me what you want me to do and I’ll do it. Just so long as she remains unharmed. I know you like to play games with people but the fuck if that’s happening with me. Just cough up what you want and give her to me.”
“You have quite the attitude for someone who’s beloved has a gun pressed to her head,” he snorted. “You better watch your mouth Bang, or I’ll have her dead so fast you won’t even know what hit you.”
You immediately burst into tears, your whimpers muffled buy your captor’s hand.
“And I’ll have the entirety of B.A.P out for your team if you do anything to harm her.” Yongguk shot back, trying to stay clam and strong while at the same time wanting to rip everyone apart in order to protect you. “Just tell me what you want already.”
The leader sauntered back over to Yongguk, looking him dead in the eyes. “I want you to give me those Jung Hyunwoo files free of charge. Then after that, I want information on Kang Jaehyun for free as well. And then I want your entire team to join me in taking back the jewel trade in the south side of Seoul. We need sharp shooters like you guys.”
You could tell the deal had Yongguk rattled; you may not have known much about what they were discussing, but the look on Yongguk’s face said more than enough.
“Fine.” he curtly replied. “My only condition is that you give her back to me first. I want her back with me before I hand over anything.”
“Very well then. Taeho, had the young lady over to Mr. Bang.” the leader ordered.
You were quickly escorted to Yongguk and the moment they handed you over to him Yongguk had grabbed you and pulled you defensively behind his back before handing over his files to the leader.
“Pleasure doing business with you, Mr. Bang. We’ll be seeing a lot of each other soon.” he chided as he turned on his heels and followed his men out of the alleyway.
The moment they left you had fallen to your knees, tears streaming down your face.
“Baby girl it’s alright now, it’s alright. You’re safe now. Everything’s okay now. I’m here.” You felt Yongguk kneel infront of you and pull you into his embrace before you quickly pushed him away.
“No Yongguk it’s not alright, what the fuck was that?” you sobbed, looking up to find Yongguk in shock. “You’re a hitman? You kill people? That’s what you’ve been doing this whole time we’ve been together? That’s why you keep so many secrets from me? That’s why you-“
“Baby girl, baby, I’m so sorry, I-“
“No! Don’t you realize? Our entire relationship has been a lie! You’ve been keeping all of this from me, you’ve been lying to me this entire time? Why Yongguk? Why!?”
You saw his pained expression as he watched tears pour down your face, his heart filling with guilt.
“I didn’t want to scare you. I didn’t want you to know that I do these kinds of things. You’re so kind and innocent that I just wanted to protect you from all this, from this world. You don’t need to be involved in it. That’s why I’m so damn obsessive over you living with me and not answering the door for people and knowing where you are because I have to make sure you’re safe. I never know who could find out who you are and then use you as leverage against me and god dammit, ____, if anything happened to you I would rip the damn world apart.”
You looked up to meet his eyes that looked like they were on the verge of tears.
“I was so afraid that you’d leave me if you knew what I did. I was so afraid that you would think I was a monster and run away. You’re all I have, ____. You’re my everything. You’re the only thing that makes me feel like a normal guy and not some murderer. I need you. I have to be with you, baby girl please.”
“How do I know you wouldn’t kill me too? How do I know you won’t get rid of me like you do other people?” you shot back, uncertainty still filing your mind with worry.
“I would never, ____. Never. We kill off gang members and mafia elites. I would never hurt you, never. Never. I cherish you. I love you. Don’t you ever think that I would do that to you baby girl please.”
He sighed, hesitantly reaching out to hold your hand.
“The most important thing in the world to me is you. You and your safety. You and your happiness. You make me so incredibly happy and I want you to feel the same way about me. Please, baby girl. Please stay with me. Let me take care of you and keep loving you like I always have. I kept this from you because I wanted to make sure you stayed safe. But I never thought how much being that secretive could make you doubt me, and even come out here and find me. And I am so sorry to make you feel angry and upset and betrayed. That was never my intention. And I know it may be hard to trust what I say but I swear to you I love you and I have been nothing but honest in every other aspect of our relationship. Please,____, please say you’ll forgive me.”
You took a deep breath before slowly inching closer to him and falling into his embrace.
“I forgive you, Yongguk. Even though this is going to take some getting used to, I promise I won’t leave you. I can’t. No matter how much I hate what you do, I love you too much to let you go.”
He hugged you tighter, letting your tears wet the fabric of his coat.
“I promise baby girl, I promise things are gonna get better from here. I’m gonna be a better man for you. You know I want to marry you someday. You know I want to start a family with you. If we can get through this, we can get through anything. I’ll keep you safe forever. Just as long as you let me.”
You looked up at him as his thumb wiped away the last few tears on your cheeks, like he always managed to do for you whenever you cried your heart out.
skydive au series: yongguk - himchan - daehyun - youngjae - jongup - zelo
It was the last thing you’d ever thought you’d be doing; working as a bartender at a club owned by one of Seoul’s most prominent gangs; serving some of the most powerful men in the entire country.
Associating yourself with these types of people, working late into the night. You knew it was bad. You knew it was dangerous.
But you didn’t have a choice. In your mind, being able to get a college education was something worth the risk. And if you had to work in unideal conditions in order to make tuition money, then so be it.
“____, refill this for me will ya?” your boss’ gruff voice boomed as cigarette smoke filled the air.
“Yes sir,” you approached him, never able to look him in the eyes as you took the glass from his hand.
It was 4 AM, the club long past closing time. It was merely you, your boss, and two of his right-hand men. They always stayed late, and you were forced to stay as long as they were there.
You walked over to the bar, taking a bottle of scotch of the shelf and pouring the glass half-full before you hearing a bang on the door.
“Who the hell his that?” you heard your boss yell, commanding one of his men to answer the door.
Mere seconds later, you heard gunshots. Several of them, coming one after another.
Your heart slammed against your chest, panic setting in immediately. You had feared something like this happening. Someone coming for your boss while you were in his presence.
You quickly scanned the room, trying to find some sort of hiding spot, some sort of escape as the footsteps of intruders neared closer and closer.
Seeing the small supply closet behind the bar you rushed to the door and locked yourself inside, hoping to god no one would find you.
Tears began to form in your eyes as more gunshots bellowed through though the club.
“B.A.P?! Why the fuck are you in here!?”
Your eyes shot wide open at the sound of your boss screaming.
B.A.P
The city’s most notorious group of hitmen, known for being one of the most lethal groups on the entire continent, were ransacking and taking down some of the most prominent figures in the gang world mere feet away from you.
And you were frozen, with nothing but a fragile, old wooden door to protect you.
You began sobbing, trying to be as quiet as possible. If they found you, you’d be dead. No doubt about it. They wouldn’t even think twice before sending a bullet straight through your head.
“Please, please don’t find me, please don’t find me,” you softly whimpered to yourself, hoping to god they wouldn’t think anything of the little supply closet behind the bar.
But, boy, were you wrong.
You heard one last gunshot fire before hearing a deep voice command, “Start searching the place high and low. They’ve their money stashed around here somewhere.”
Oh god.
Oh god no.
Your hands were shaking uncontrollably, sweat poring down your body. You knew there was no way they wouldn’t look in the closet. If they were searching the whole place, there’s no way they wouldn’t come across it. No way.
You looked everywhere, trying to find something that would possibly be used as a weapon but it came with no avail. The closet was full of nothing but old empty boxes and cigars.
You had nothing but hope left. Hope that somehow, they wouldn’t find you. That somehow, they’d give up and move on.
But that hope was fleeting, for it was then that you heard the sound of bottles rattling as someone hopped over the bar, footsteps nearing closer and closer.
You watched as the person tried to open the lock, your hands flying to cover your mouth.
Please give up, please give up, please.
Suddenly, the knob of the door stop moving. You breathed a sign of relief, believing that the person had moved on.
But before your heart even had the chance to calm down, you watched as the door was violently busted wide open, your throat uttering a blood-curdling scream.
“Please don’t kill me, please, please!”
“Hey, hey it’s okay it’s okay, I’m not gonna hurt you, I promise.”
You looked up to find a man with a soft, almost child-like face. No doubt around your age. He was tall, with black and blonde hair and a small piercing on his delicate nose.
You watched as he tucked his gun back in his holster before he slowly bent down to join you on the floor.
“Are you okay?” he asked you. His voice was soft, and gentle, his eyes bright and kind but still filled with concern.
“I…I…” you could barely speak, still unsure if this man could be trusted.
“Are you one of Jung Hyunwoo’s girls?”
“No…I…I…he’s my boss,” you stuttered out, your eyes barely meeting his, “He…He hired me to bartend at the club.
“You got lucky then, you were about to be for sure. It’s how he reels in all his girls.”
“His girls?” your eyebrows furrowed, not having the slightest idea was this man was telling you.
“Jung Hyunwoo runs a rather notorious prostitution ring,” he watched your eyes go wide as he continued, “He finds girls in need of work, so he offers them positions in the club and gains their trust before kidnapping them and forcing them into sex work.”
“You’re alright now though. My name’s Zelo,” he reached out his hand, offering to help you up.
“____,” you told him, shying away from him.
“I swear we’ll help you out. We’ll take you back to your place, make sure you get home safe. None of us will hurt you.”
You paused a moment before hesitantly giving him your hand.
Pulling you up, he gave you a soft smile; his hand still holding yours as he lead you out of the closet.
“Himchan,” he called out as your eyes travelled to the five men at the table sorting through what looked like thousands of dollars, “I found a Hyunwoo girl.”
You stood behind Zelo as Himchan’s sharp eyes turned soft at the sight of you.
“It’s alright,” Himchan told you while your mind still reeled over everything Zelo had said. “We will assist you in anyway that we can.”
Your eyes traveled across the faces that looked at you, their eyes filled with sympathy.
You weren’t sure how to process it all. This was a group of men that murder people. A group that ruthlessly shoot down people an not even bat an eye. Why were they being nice to you? And could you really trust them, knowing what they do?
“Youngjae, drive Zelo and the girl to her home,” Himchan ordered as he worked to gather more cash into bags, “I am trusting you two to return her safely.”
“Yes sir,” Youngjae and Zelo answered in unison.
“As for the rest us; we will be taking the money back to our downtown hideout. Everyone should report back to the mansion by 6AM.”
“Yes sir.”
You watched the men scatter as Zelo turned to face you. “Come on, _____, let’s get you home.”
You hesitantly followed him out of the club and into the car where Youngjae was waiting, Zelo sitting next to you in the back seat.
“Where do you live?” Youngjae turned to look at you but you avoided meeting his glance.
“The apartments 15 minutes from here, near the subway stop.”
He nodded, starting the car and driving off.
You remained silent in the back, still shaken over everything that had happened. Still uncertain if you could trust these men to get you home.
Glancing over to your left, you watched as Zelo sat calmly, his delicate features illuminated by the passing city lights. You wondered how someone who looked so soft, so innocent, could do such cruel and aggressive work.
But yet at the same time, he was kind towards you, and seemed to want to help you.
You were perplexed by the boy. Completely and utterly perplexed.
“We’re here.”
Youngjae’s voice snapped you out of your train of thought as you unbuckled your seatbelt and opened the door.
“Thank you for the ride,” you sent them a soft smile, knowing it was the least you could do for them.
“Wait,” Zelo hopped out the car with you closing the door behind him. “I’ll walk you to your room.”
“Oh,” once again, this boy seemed to catch you off guard. “Thank you.”
The two of you began walking, your apartment on the very top level of the building; footsteps the only sound filling the air.
It stayed silent like that for awhile before your curiosity finally got the best of you.
“Zelo, why did you help me?”
“What?”
“Why did you save me? Why didn’t you just kill me?”
Zelo chuckled a bit, his hands traveling to his pockets.
“Is that really how bad our reputation is?”
You looked up at him quizzically.
“We aren’t savage murders, _____,” he looked up to the sky, taking in the stars that would soon fade once the sun arrived. “We don’t kill for fun, we kill for money. We kill the people we’re paid to killed.”
“But even then,” he continued, “it’s not always that black and white. Sometimes we get asked to to kill perfectly innocent people in which case we refuse. We don’t believe in a bitter husband wanting his cheating wife dead, or killing of some innocent kid just because their father pissed someone off in the mafia. We have a sense of humanity and we pride ourselves on that.”
“Regardless of what you’ve heard, we aren’t bad people, we really aren’t. I know we’ve done some pretty extreme stuff but….” he paused for a moment, looking down at his feet, “…I don’t want you to see me as some animal hunting for his next prey. I’d like for you to see me as a regular person, if that’s possible.”
Your body that was once tense relaxed at his words. Certainly his occupation was by no means normal, but at the same time, his words showed another side of him; a better side of him. One you could respect.
“I understand, your job doesn’t define you. I mean, just an hour ago I was a bartender at club owned by gang bosses. I’m sure people have their bad perceptions of me too.”
“I don’t,” Zelo quickly cut in, “I mean, I don’t know you very well but…I can tell that you’re kind. I can tell your job was never something you really wanted.”
You smiled at him, your cheeks turning light pink, “Well thank you Zelo, I’m very flattered you think that way.”
Continuing your way upstairs the two of you eventually reached the door of your small apartment.
“Thank you for everything, Zelo. For taking me home and walking me to my door, you’re very sweet,” you told him as you fumbled through your purse for your keys.
He rubbed the back of his neck, his face turning red, “It’s nothing, ____, really…and hey you know, if you ever don’t feel safe walking home alone I can always…come pick you up you know?”
You looked up from your purse and chuckled at him, “Really?”
“Yeah! Or you know if you’re just bored, and wanna you know, get some food or something that’s totally fine too.”
“Well,” you reached in your bag to grab your phone, “If you’d like we can exchange-“
“Yes!” he quickly cut in, whipping his phone out of his pocket. “You can text me or call whenever it’s fine, emergency or otherwise.”
“Anytime? Anytime at all and you’ll come help me?”
“Of course.” he grinned, typing his number into your phone and handing it back to you, “I promise.”
skydive au series: yongguk - himchan - daehyun - youngjae - jongup - zelo
Your mind was frantic the moment your eyes shot open.
You sprung up from the mattress, a cold sweat drenching your body.
“It was just a dream, just a nightmare, you’re okay,” You told yourself, slowly breathing in and out to calm your delicate nerves.
This happened nearly every night. At least, every night that you didn’t have Youngjae by your side.
It was one of the hardest parts of being with someone in the line of work that Youngjae was in; you never knew what would happen when he went to carry out a hit. Would he be hurt? Captured by an enemy gang? Killed?
It was those fears that kept you up at night; those fears that made you toss and turn for hours on end.
Your heart wanted so badly to believe that he would always be okay. Just like he told you every time he left.
“I’ll be okay, I promise I’ll be back.” he’d tell you, giving you a kiss on the forehead before putting on his holster and making his way out the door.
But it was never enough to drown your fears. Never enough to stop the nightmares of him being shot in cold blood, or being the victim of an enemy’s revenge.
Nevertheless, you knew you needed to calm down and try to get some sleep on nights like these. Youngjae hated it when he’d come home with you still awake. He hated you losing sleep over him.
You threw your hair in a ponytail, falling back down onto your pillows and hoping that if you could at least catch an hour of sleep, the next time you woke you’d feel the mattress dip and Youngjae’s strong arms wrapping around your body.
But just as you felt yourself teetering on the line between asleep and awake, you heard the sound of the deadbolt unlocking, and Youngjae’s boots walking across the wooden floor to the bedroom the two of you shared.
“Youngjae?” your groggy voice called out to him as he closed the door behind him.
“Did I wake you?” he asked, kneeling at the side of the bed.
“No, I wasn’t really asleep yet,” you answered as you reached out your hand to run your fingers though his brown locks.
A sigh escaped his lips as he looked at you.
“Sweetheart-”
“I know,” you stopped him, knowing all well what he would say, “I know you don’t want me worrying about you. But I can’t help that, Jae. You’d do the same if you were in my shoes.”
He knew he couldn’t argue with that. In fact, he honestly wondered how you handled the stress of his job, knowing that if you were the one out killing people for a living, he’d probably recklessly go out after you every night.
“Come here,” he said, pulling you into his arms and planting a kiss on the top of your head. “I’m okay, you don’t need to worry now, I’m safe, you’re safe, I’m here with you, and that’s all that matters.”
You snuggled into his chest, the smell of cigarette smoke and his cologne filling your nose.
“Come to bed,” you murmured, your heart wanting so badly to have him next to you, listening to the sound of his gentle heartbeat.
“Not yet, love, I’m sorry,” he gently rubbed circles on your back as you held him closer, “I have some logistical stuff I need to take care of tonight and send to Himchan.”
You raised your head from his chest, a frown spreading across your face.
“I’ll be in my office. I promise not to take too long,” he pulled away from your embrace, gently pushing you down onto the mattress and pulling the blankets you had long kicked to the end of the bed back on top of your body. “I’ll be in my office if you need anything, try and get some sleep.”
With one last kiss Youngjae left to go finish his work as you lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. Part of you was relived that Youngjae was safe for another night and that he was finally home where he belonged.
But at the same time, it hurt, having him home yet not having the comfort of his presence.
It didn’t take long for your restless mind to get the best of you. Wrapping yourself up in a blanket, you got out of bed and wondered down the end of the hallway to Youngjae’s office.
Slowly opening the door, you found Youngjae looking up from his desk with a soft smile on his face.
“Is something wrong sweetheart?”
“No I just…” you looked down for a moment before speaking once more, “I missed you.”
Youngjae’s heart softened at your words, finding relief in the fact that he wasn’t the only one suffering from the late work nights spent apart.
He got up from his chair, walking over to you and taking your hands in his.
“I missed you too.”
Leading you over to the sofa that sat in the corner of his office, Youngjae fluffed the pillows as you lay down.
“Sleep here till I’m done with work,” he told you, kissing the back of your hand. “I’ll carry you back to the bedroom when I’m done.”
You smiled at him, thankful that Youngjae was so understanding. Thankful that Youngjae was so loving.
Thankful that Youngjae’s presence was a small comfort in your heart.
