I was only 8 in 1988 so I wasn’t really paying attention to teen culture. But I did watch TV. I would watch Cheers, Night Court, ALF, Golden Girls, A Different World, The Cosby Show, The Wonder Years, and probably some others I am forgetting.

In terms of cartoons I would watch Garfield & Friends, Muppet Babies, The Real Ghostbusters, MASK, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...stuff like that.

(I actually don’t know if the original question is asking me what was popular to me or what was popular to everyone at the time.)
