Nettspend, i’m damned to loving you.
gunner shepardson (nettspend) x y/n (rpf)
Later that week, Gunner dragged you yet to another party.
Purple lights illuminated the room while music shook the walls. People were dancing, screaming, laughing, living their best lives.
You hated it.
You hated the smell of smoke. You hated seeing strangers touch him like they knew him better than you did. You hated that everyone here loved Nettspend but no one cared about Gunner.
The worst part?
You weren’t sure if gunner cared about Gunner anymore either.
You stood in the corner watching him laugh with his friends while a girl sat dangerously close to him on the couch.
Your stomach twisted.
“Y’all look cute together,” one of his friends joked.
Gunner laughed.
He laughed.
He didn’t correct him.
That was what broke you.
You stormed outside before anyone could see the tears threatening to fall.
A few minutes later, the front door slammed shut.
“What the fuck is your problem?” Gunner asked as he walked towards you.
“My problem?” you laughed. “Seriously?”
“You’ve been acting weird all night.”
“Weird? You’re sitting on a couch flirting with another girl while I’m standing two feet away!”
He rolled his eyes. “You’re overreacting.”
“No, Gunner! You don’t get to do that! You don’t get to make me feel crazy every single time you hurt me.”
“You make everything about yourself.”
Your mouth fell open.
“Everything about myself?” you repeated. “I’ve spent months worrying about YOU! I’ve defended you when people called you selfish. I’ve stayed when you pushed me away. I’ve watched you slowly destroy yourself because I love you!”
“Then maybe that’s your problem.”
The words hit you like a slap across the face.
“What?”
“You love me too much.”
For a moment, everything went silent.
You couldn’t believe the boy standing in front of you was the same one who used to hold your hand and promise you’d always be his favorite person.
Tears streamed down your face as months of sadness, anger, and disappointment finally came crashing down on you.
“I fucking hate you, Gunner,” you cried. “I hope you rot in hell with your shithole friends!”
He stared at you for a moment before looking away.
“You don’t mean that, ma. I know you don’t.”
The nickname made you want to cry even harder.
He said it so casually, as if he hadn’t just shattered your heart.
“You’re such an asshole,” you whispered. “You don’t deserve anything.”
For the first time that night, he finally looked directly at you. His expression was cold and unreadable.
“And you’re a slut, y/n,” he spat. “A fucking slut.”
You felt your heart stop.
He knew exactly what words would hurt the most.
“I loved you so much…” was all you could manage to say.
And somehow, that hurt more than saying goodbye.
You walked away before he could see you completely fall apart.
The boy you loved was gone.
All that was left was nettspend.
