The CityDNA series by chinese painter Lu Xinjian is so impressive. One of the best abstraction of cities based on aerial views from google earth. Usage of colors, forms and density is so powerful. It raises the question on my mind ‘would it be possible to find DNAs or fingerprints of cities by analyzing their aerial images?’ A good question to think about.
GABRIEL HARTLEY, CLUB, 2009. Oil on canvas, 16 x 12 in. / 42 x 30.5 cm.
‘Demuro paints like heâs decorating abstract birthday cakes while tripping on LSD’, a great description by The Art Blog about these powerful paintings. Many of the works use thick textured paint giving the work a dramatic 3D quality together with random geometric shapes and dense graduated colour. Check more of his paintings at pauldemuro.com.
