Are y'all sponsored by Dominos? I was taught to "avoid the noid" in the 80's.
Sadly, we are not sponsored by Dominos'.
How come your camcorders aren't in hi-def?
These cameras are being put through their paces at live shows, many of them raucous. We can't afford to have one of them eat shit and need to pay $100+ for it to be replaced, we are producing this show at our own cost (I make $180 a week washing dishes. You do the math.) Realistically, it's just a lot more cost effective to buy a bunch of $20 VHS camcorders and get blank tapes from the thrift store for a quarter, or pick them out of someone's garbage or whatever (I have actually done this.)Beyond just the camcorders, the computer I am typing this on is the first one that I have owned that might be considered even remotely "current" hardware-wise since probably 1995. I slowly bought pieces for it over the course of six months, but it still barely has more power than an XBOX 360, and all told only cost slightly more than one. Our entire expenditures for these six hours of television--the entire editing bay (PC/analog pass-throughs/USB VCR,) the cameras, the tapes, the stuff to facilitate the live performance in our studio, our website, all of the fliers, the ability to stream the show without ads to the internet--will come to roughly $1500 total. Now, that's a lot of money in our world - probably in yours, too - but consider for a moment what it costs to get a MacBook or something that's "intended" to have a NLE-style video program, like Vegas or Final Cut Pro, brutally crunching HD video - and that's before you drop dime one on anything else at all. We don't have that luxury, so in order for us to make this show, we had no other choice. Thank you for the question.
We are experiencing technical difficulties.
Hi everyone, I'm sorry to announce that due to some technical issues beyond our control we are not able to stream tonight's episode. The show will be available tomorrow morning. Thanks for understanding. Next week will be streamed live as planned.
is it your intention to expand minds or just cop out and turn inward toward your own comfort zone?
This is a great question - and one that we definitely contemplate often in the ongoing pursuit of producing this show. We feel that there are an incredible number of very talented people from Richmond and the surrounding areas, and our goal is to try and showcase this great music and art in a format that's accessible to the rest of the world, without some of the usual trappings (advertisment, any hi-falutin' new media blogger attitude.) We are consciously trying to include as much stuff as is possible: different genres, different art, the primary conceit being that the content being curated is a rough snapshot of what is happening RIGHT NOW in Richmond. That's why there is a submissions page here, and why we will take any suggestions from the public as to what they'd like to see. Our sole agenda is the advancement of all independent music and art from this freaky burg.
