I think a lot of the disconnet that people are having with one another these days is a serious result of the fact that, from the early 2000s, life has gotten worse by all metrics that count to actively working people while wealth has fucktubled for the people who don't actually work for a living
It's alienated us from one another so much that 'currency' is all that justifies our relationships (platonic/romantic/professional)
