I just realized somethingā¦
Episode 15 of beast yeast was⦠a train wreck.
The first half of it was fine. Entertaining. Though Sugar Swanās appearance was underwhelming. Nothing too bad though.
White Lilyās death made sense but oh boy does it send a bad message. Iām in general not a big fan of the āyou need to die to atone for your sinsā trope and I think itās inappropriate for a game that is meant to be for kids as well. I think they could have pulled something much better but what do I know.
Then the beasts dying (minus smc). Sighs. They did not need to kill all the beasts off expect Shadow Milk, itās just a joke of a conclusion for all of the beasts fans that have invested so much time into their lore for the past year or more. The fact itās even barely acknowledged by anyone and itās basically just brushed under the rug makes it so much worse. It wasnāt even impactful because nobody cared. At all.
Then to address the elephant in the room, smc becoming the big next villain. It actually makes sense for his character, he is very impulsive and despite being self destructive he is fueled by a will to keep living no matter what, but the fact they threw the other beasts under the bus and introduced a sudden interest in other timelines⦠yeah no. At least if smcās interest for these other timelines had been foreshadowed it could have made sense, it could have even been interesting, but jesus the execution is horrible. It just looks like a cheap way to introduce timekeeper cookie.
Plus the fact that pv didnāt acknowledge smcās staged death was⦠certainly a choice. So much for saying he would protect him and showing repeatedly that he cares. It just makes no sense. Their characters have been revolving around each other for the past year and there was no closure at all. I guess it makes more sense for smc because he is stubborn and he constantly lies to himself, but pv cares immensely⦠why not address it? But even then they might do so in the future⦠but still pv you could react after seeing the guyās corpse lol. But after all none of the ancients really reacted nor cared about their deaths.
This makes me believe that this means that their deaths donāt matter much because they will come back anyway? I guess? Because devsisters is capable of writing impactful deaths. Like I donāt think this is going to last long and the beasts might get a more satisfying ending? Not sure if they will revive White Lily though as what would be the point of her sacrifice then? Eughā¦
I just think it sucks to show these characters that have been stuck in a constant cycle of suffering due to the circumstances around them to either die or just sink deeper into this suffering. Especially when redemption had been teased for a whole year. It just seems like an awful message, for the beasts and white lily. A friendship is magic type of ending would have been more fulfilling and dare I say even fitting since this is a game for kids as well.
Also we will never know Pure Vanillaās connection with the St Pastry Order⦠sighs⦠of course⦠this game loves not wrapping up their storylines. I feel like theyāre slowly assassinating pvās character but maybe Iām just dramatic.
Conclusion: genuinely who was this episode for? None of my friends enjoyed it, most of the fandom seems to dislike it. Yes thereās still more to come but I doubt it will completely fix the horrible execution on the beastās storyline. Hopefully they wrap up all the plot holes left but yeah I will not have high standards so I wonāt get disappointed this time.
Pure Vanilla says neither him nor Shadow Milk will know loneliness ever again, (in the kingdom interaction), english isnāt my first language, so I was wondering; was PV ever described as lonely before that? Iām aware that you can be 'alone in a room of people', bit he also has strong bonds with his friends. So I always wondered about that dialogue.
He was never described as lonely, but it's kind of implied with some of his previous dialogue.
It is a consistent theme of his character; he feels solely responsible for the tragedy of the first Dark Flour War. (Even though I was the only one who could...) Where this dialogue had taken place (Cookie Odyssey), he had believed in telling the Truth (tm) and that he must not lie at all. Of course, this has resulted in the other two Heroes and having to hear it from Clotted Cream Cookie. As much as Pure Vanilla wants to maintain a sense of camaraderie, it is a bit of a cowardly thing to do.
He places a lot of emphasis on himself trying to understand Willy. "Why was there nothing I could do to help..." "Whether I should've insisted more on stopping her..." "I shouldn't have let her take on such a big burden all alone."
All of these questions with no answers... It does kind of remind you of Fount of Knowledge in a way.
Pure Vanilla is also a bit of a hypocrite.
Take his gacha quote (not the Awakened one):
"HARDSHIPS ARE MEANT TO BE SHARED."
Yet, he doesn't share his hardships. He doesn't tell the Ancient Heroes about this guilt that he is wrestling with. He doesn't let them share the burden of his. He only opens up to Gingergang about his fears when he's faced with the possibility of seeing her again.
Come Beast Yeast 7 and once again he does not share what is going on with Gingergang.
It is a character flaw at this point. That the burdens he has must be dealt by him alone as to not disturb the peace. It is why Shadow Milk was able to manipulate him so easily by isolating him. He preys on those doubts and confusion, knowing that Pure Vanilla would just shoulder the burden alone and not say anything.
And Shadow Milk takes the opportunity to EXPLOIT that. He places the blame on Pure Vanilla, implying that their sufferings were all because of him (Pure Vanilla) and reaffirming his own self-doubt about the events of the Dark Flour War.
"YOU had the chance to stop her." "YOU didn't." "YOU didn't stop her back then."
By letting go, he would not make the same mistakes again. He would not make decisions that would doom his friends again.
If he lets go, then perhaps they would be happier.
But of course. Gingergang clutches. Because Pure Vanilla has also made decisions that saved his friends. It is a reminder that he has people to support him and that they need him too.
Thus, he was able to free himself from the cycle of Truth and Deceit. Where the Fount of Knowledge falls from the self-doubt, because there was no one who had supported him, Compassionate Pure Vanilla rises. He grows to understand that everything that has happened so far is a step towards the Truth. He grows to understand and accept his inner flaws and love himself again. It's no wonder after his Awakening that he has visions of his uncorrupted past, as a means of healing and a reminder of what he sought out to do in the first place.
And Shadow Milk cannot accept that.
He screams at Pure Vanilla and tries to diminish him, unable to fathom the idea of being able to accept both. How DARE Pure Vanilla ascends when he falls? It SHOULD have been inevitable to fall into Deceit. (Look at him absolutely deflecting here + that's not mentioning the manipulation of the LoD)
Then, his emotional constipation. Take your pick of which flavour you like more: him doubling down on denying his self-loathing through his projection on PV and screaming 'I hate you...I will destroy you' (EN version) OR him wanting to destroy it all (KR, CN ... version). Both versions just show how scared he is of vulnerability that he's willing to tear it all down.
uhh so TLDR: Shadowvanilla are foils of each other. Pure Vanilla learns to love himself again. Shadow Milk hates himself.
Ok bye.
Pure Vanilla and Shadow Milk kingdom interaction just dropped and oh my god there is so much to sayā¦
The fact Pure Vanillaās tenderness breaks Shadow Milk to the point he shakes in anger for one minute straight and stopping only when Pure Vanilla calls his name⦠this sounds like a scenario straight out of a fanfic (<- very positive)
āYou and I are meant to be togetherā Why did you say it like that . I fear Pure Vanilla matched Shadow Milkās freak. I cannot defend him anymore.
Rewatching ep 8 of beast yeast to hear Pure Vanillaās Truthless and Awakened voice⦠oh my god I am unwell
So Pure Vanilla was teased in the new update as having a link with the St. Pastry Order just for it to not be elaborated upon. Okay.
we love a crazy bitch
