TSLA hit its all time high of $488.50 on 15 DEC 2024. To reach of a price of $114.00 would be a 76.7% drop. That's huge, right?
Yeah well, when I checked the price just now (12 MAR 2025 @ 1:31 PM EDT), TSLA is currently trading at $250.85. That's down 48.6% from the high.
Babes, we're already nearly two-thirds of the way there.
TSLA $114.00. I believe this is where I say 'like to charge, reblog to cast.'
Toyota, the 2nd largest car company by sales cap, sits at a total value od ~250 billion. Tesla has a market cap (at this moment, March 14th 2025) of ~800 billion.
I cannot emphasize how little fucking sense this makes. Toyota sells nearly six times as many cars and has the same profit margins. They make way more money. Period. Worse, Tesla’s designs are borderline prototype - they prioritized getting onto the market ASAP way more than making the design scalable. They struggle to make the cars. Increasing production is really, really hard for them. The Tesla gigafactory is already the largest building on earth and it had to be that big because there are an embarrassing number of steps that require hand assembly.
Tesla’s value at present is hyped up from at least three different bubbles. One being Elon himself, one being its (temporary) head-start on self-driving, and the last being its status as a luxury good. All three of those are at risk. It would make a lot of sense for it to fall behind Toyota and take Elon with it. There is no good reason to value it that highly.
