Someone asked me this, but since my answer is pretty long, I think I'll split it into multiple posts so it doesn't turn into one giant wall of text 😭
Q: "If MC and one of the boys got into a relationship, had a child together, and then, because of unfortunate circumstances like divorce or MC passing away, would they remarry and give their child a stepmother? Would they be able to fall in love again, or would they stay single and raise the child themselves?"
For me, I honestly don't think either of them would move on easily. They'd both be devastated, but I think it'd hit Lane especially hard.
Lane lost his dad when he was young, and he saw how much his mom struggled afterward. Laly also mentioned that Lane directed a lot of his anger toward his father, blaming him for dying because, in his mind, his death was the reason their family became so dysfunctional and drifted apart. It was easier to blame someone who was already gone than risk damaging the relationship he still had with his mom.
Because of that, I can imagine Lane reacting similarly if MC suddenly passed away, especially if it happened without warning, such as in an accident.
At first, I think he'd completely fall apart. He'd go through every stage of grief, but anger would probably consume him the longest. I could see him blaming MC for leaving him and their child behind. Not because he truly believes it's her fault, but because grief isn't logical.
Eventually though, I think he'd catch himself.
The last thing Lane would ever want is for his own child to grow up watching him become what he watched his mother become after his father's death. He knows what that kind of grief does to a family, and I don't think he'd want history to repeat itself.
So he'd force himself to get back up. Not because he'd be okay, but because his child still needs a father.
That doesn't mean he'd ever be the same again.
Laly has already talked about how Lane would react if MC died in the bad ending, and I honestly think it'd be very similar here. The only real difference is that he'd have a child depending on him, so he'd have a reason to keep putting one foot in front of the other.
I also think he'd carry an enormous amount of guilt. He'd constantly wonder if he could've prevented it somehow. And if their child looked like MC...
I can't even imagine how painful that'd be for him. Every day he'd be reminded of the person he lost while also loving the child more than anything. Those two feelings would coexist.
Still, I think he'd do everything he could to be a good father, even if every day felt unbearably difficult.
As for BB...
Based on everything I've gathered about him so far, I think losing MC would make his world feel gray and completely directionless.
He'd keep living because their child is still there, and because he knows that's what MC would've wanted. But I honestly think he'd struggle much more with knowing how to keep living.
I can see BB becoming a very distant father, not because he doesn't love his child, but because he'd be so consumed by his own grief that he'd lose sight of everything else. He wouldn't know what he's supposed to do now that the person who grounded him is gone.
He'd still provide for his child and he'd still stay.
But emotionally... I think he'd be somewhere else.
His child would probably notice that something is always missing. The warmth that used to fill their home disappeared the day MC did, and no matter how hard BB tried, he wouldn't know how to recreate it on his own.
He'd keep going because he knows MC would never forgive him for abandoning their child. But there's no guarantee he'd actually be a good father.
Losing MC would feel like losing part of himself, and when part of you is gone, it's incredibly difficult to give someone else everything they need.
As for whether either of them would remarry or fall in love again...
Personally, I don't think either of them would actively look for another relationship. Could they eventually love someone else years down the line?
People are capable of loving more than once. But I don't think either Lane or BB would ever replace MC.
