The one I see least about is 8. Like do you think he was always kind of brutish or? [1:28:09 AM] Skye: ok well now i have a whole blog for this which is good [1:28:40 AM] Skye: YEAH NO i have much less meta on him than i do for the other characters i mean he has like what less than 10 lines of actual dialogue?? and then was just used for comic relief before he died?? [1:29:15 AM] Skye: ok so here's a theory [1:29:29 AM] Skye: you know how 9 is kind of the "main" embodiment of the scientist's soul? [1:29:35 AM] Josh: Yeah [1:29:38 AM] Skye: like it's pretty obvious that the most work went into him [1:29:40 AM] Skye: and i think that [1:29:45 AM] Skye: the most soul went into him [1:30:08 AM] Skye: and this was possible because in the process of transferring soul into 8 the scientist was interrupted [1:30:18 AM] Skye: so a smaller fragment of his soul was inside 8 [1:30:25 AM] Skye: therefore he had less personality [1:30:35 AM] Skye: and had an incredibly one-track mind [1:31:13 AM] Skye: during the war he was rescued by 1 and felt like he owed him his life [1:31:36 AM] Josh: Makes sense, so then he became the bodyguard? [1:31:40 AM] Skye: like i said earlier he was like the tank and the "big guy" yeah [1:32:22 AM] Skye: like if 1 and 7 were running around and leaping into the air and stuff he would just march right up and chop some motherfuckers in half [1:32:43 AM] Josh: The bruiser p much [1:32:46 AM] Skye: mainly he defended those who couldn't really fight [1:34:33 AM] Josh: Which is in it's own way a good thing

[1:34:51 AM] Skye: definitely [1:35:07 AM] Skye: he genuinely cared about them all at first [1:35:19 AM] Skye: but 1's bitterness rubbed off on him later [1:35:23 AM] Skye: and since he owed him a life debt [1:35:29 AM] Skye: he kinda did whatever he was instructed to [1:35:44 AM] Skye: he also had an extraordinary amount of faith in 1 long after he stopped deserving it

2 sort of knows but he doesn't really get it [1:08:08 AM] Skye: like why is 1 icarus? he's flying too close to the sun? he's going to fall and die? [1:08:11 AM] Skye: hes hella confused [1:08:28 AM] Skye: but then like i have these scenes where 1's locked himself in the tower and thats when he and 2 understand [1:08:29 AM] Josh: Is it more symbolic? [1:09:00 AM] Skye: like [1:09:04 AM] Skye: 1 rose with his family [1:09:09 AM] Skye: and he fell without them [1:09:11 AM] Skye: he let them down [1:09:15 AM] Skye: he hurt them so badly [1:09:21 AM] Skye: he let three of them go [1:09:39 AM] Skye: he created all these rules to keep them safe but what he really wanted was control [1:09:46 AM] Skye: all along, he wanted control [1:09:54 AM] Skye: he cared about them so much but he also just wanted to be in charge [1:10:03 AM] Josh: Ohhh.. And he flew too close to the sun as a result? [1:10:05 AM] Skye: even though he doubted himself too much [1:10:07 AM] Skye: yes [1:10:27 AM] Skye: his "sun" is like...the ideal life [1:10:42 AM] Skye: and he had the most fun when he was out fighting the robots with 7 [1:10:53 AM] Skye: 8 was more like the tank, he protected the others [1:11:06 AM] Skye: he enjoyed his life when he was USEFUL, that's like a huge key word [1:11:14 AM] Skye: when he was keeping his family safe [1:11:18 AM] Skye: and when he was in charge [1:11:26 AM] Josh: Would the 'wax' holding his wings together be the family? [1:11:36 AM] Skye: probably [1:12:03 AM] Skye: i have this huge dramatic scene where 7 tells him she's leaving [1:12:17 AM] Skye: and she's like "we were a good team, you should come with me, fight the machines like we used to" [1:12:32 AM] Skye: and he had to tell her no because he wanted to keep his family safe [1:12:37 AM] Skye: he begged her to stay [1:12:50 AM] Skye: he wanted all of them to be safe under his control [1:12:58 AM] Skye: but she couldnt be under control and she never was [1:14:21 AM] Skye: and that was what destroyed him in the end [1:14:36 AM] Josh: His lack of control [1:14:50 AM] Skye: his loss of purpose [1:15:05 AM] Skye: for him, protection over the others = control over the others [1:15:40 AM] Skye: he didn't realize that he could be protective and keep them safe but not control them and force them to obey him [1:17:16 AM] Josh: He thought he had to stay strict in order to prevent the safety of his family being broken? [1:17:23 AM] Skye: yes [1:17:40 AM] Skye: if he didn't make sure they stayed inside and didn't leave and didn't risk their lives, they could die [1:17:54 AM] Skye: and he was too busy keeping them from getting hurt that he didn't see how unhappy they were [1:18:10 AM] Skye: and he went a little mad because for a while there were no machines around

[1:18:15 AM] Skye: like sometime after the war had already ended [1:18:33 AM] Skye: but he was so worried, worried that there would be more [1:18:44 AM] Skye: but he was also excited because that meant some actual thrill in his life [1:18:47 AM] Skye: until 7 left [1:19:00 AM] Skye: then he snapped his lance in half and burned it [1:19:08 AM] Skye: fashioned himself a staff and didn't look back [1:19:32 AM] Skye: became so bitter and twisted [1:19:36 AM] Skye: he was glad that he died in the end [1:19:53 AM] Skye: because he was able to fulfill his purpose one last time [1:19:57 AM] Skye: he was able to protect them. [1:20:17 AM] Josh: His ultimate goal? [1:20:24 AM] Skye: i mean it's on his poster [1:20:29 AM] Skye: they all have their lil slogan thingies [1:20:36 AM] Skye: his is "to protect us" [1:20:52 AM] Josh: 3 words tell it all [1:21:07 AM] Skye: its his drive and it's why he did everything [1:21:20 AM] Skye: it was only after 9 came into their lives that he realized he was going about it all wrong [1:21:31 AM] Skye: but he knew then that he could never undo what he had done [1:21:55 AM] Skye: so he sacrificed himself to make sure that someone else, someone better, could keep living

[12:19:30 AM] Skye: i like the idea of her having a ponytail during the war and then when she decided to leave she let the twins do stuff to her hair [12:19:43 AM] Skye: my headcanon is that the twins are the best when it comes to hair [12:19:59 AM] Skye: 6 had way too much hair so 4 was like ok we're fixing this and they gave him a sweet mohawk [12:20:27 AM] Skye: 1 kept getting 3 and 4 confused so 3 chopped some of her hair off and now they're less identical [12:20:38 AM] Josh: Like braids and intricate highlights and such? [12:21:00 AM] Skye: like cutting hair with rusty knives cause they don't have anything else to work with [12:21:11 AM] Josh: Ohh right [12:21:30 AM] Skye: somehow they can shave heads [12:21:39 AM] Josh: But making do with the materials at hand? [12:21:42 AM] Skye: but they don't realize that their hair doesn't grow [12:21:52 AM] Skye: so once they cut it it stays that way [12:22:19 AM] Skye: so when the twins and 7 left they were like do u really want us to cut your hair and shave half your head [12:22:24 AM] Skye: and shes like "yeah just do it" [12:22:26 AM] Skye: so they do it [12:22:42 AM] Josh: Permadeath hair p much? [12:22:44 AM | Edited 12:22:47 AM] Skye: and for a while she hates it but then she remembers that she might never be seen again so it's not a big deal [12:22:56 AM] Skye: yeah cause they're androids [12:22:58 AM] Skye: so they have that hair [12:23:03 AM] Skye: but it can't grow anymore [12:24:31 AM] Josh: Androids you say? I must say that is an interesting way of portraying them. Closer to being humans and not pieces of the inventor's soul, but still not quite human [12:24:31 AM] Skye: and i like 9 sitting down with the twins at some point when they have downtime and he's like "I have a serious favor to ask you" [12:24:35 AM] Skye: and they're like oh shit whats this [12:24:42 AM] Skye: and he points at his bangs and he's like "i cant see shit" [12:25:13 AM] Skye: so they trim off some of his bangs and it tickles his nose and he laughs too hard that they cant cut it properly and they end up nicking the tip of his nose [12:25:48 AM] Josh: Oh man, and then he's a bit miffed? [12:26:27 AM] Skye: he brushes it off like "nah its ok!" and he looks into like a pool of oil or something and he's like "this is great!! thanks guys!!" and thats when they start to warm up to him [12:26:41 AM] Skye: and 7 kinda oversees this and after this she's just a little bit less hostile [12:27:19 AM] Josh: Char developmentttt [12:27:34 AM] Skye: yeeeeeEEEE [12:28:00 AM] Skye: also 1 sees this and has a flashback to them trimming his hair and he gets even more hostile because he's realizing that his place has been taken [12:28:18 AM] Skye: he knows he stopped being their leader long ago but it hurts just as much to see someone else taking that role again [12:30:27 AM] Josh: So while 7 becomes friendlier, 1 becomes more bitter? [12:31:24 AM] Skye: yeeesssss thats it thats it [12:31:44 AM] Skye: because everything is suddenly so much like it was ~back then~ [12:32:01 AM] Skye: but whoa its way different because they're not looking up to him like they used to [12:32:11 AM] Skye: and he can't fulfill his purpose! [12:32:23 AM] Skye: he can't because they're not letting him and they have good reason to [12:32:24 AM] Skye: he hurt them

[12:57:36 AM] Skye: he's like the scientist [12:57:40 AM] Skye: and the scholar [12:58:01 AM] Skye: my headcanon is that he purposefully dragged them to places he knew would have books [12:58:12 AM] Skye: and then he would read them all and once he was done he would make everyone leave [12:58:13 AM] Josh: Makes sense knowing him [12:58:20 AM] Skye: like "ok well we're done here let's get going" [12:58:22 AM] Skye: "why today" [12:58:26 AM | Edited 12:58:36 AM] Skye: "idk it just feels right" [12:58:40 AM] Skye: "its the middle of the night" [12:58:43 AM] Skye: "but i'm bored" [12:58:45 AM] Skye: "go read a book" [12:58:48 AM] Skye: "i finished them" [12:58:53 AM] Skye: "aaaaaand there we go" [12:59:24 AM] Josh: Heh xD [12:59:59 AM] Skye: he taught 3 and 4 how to write so they could actually talk to the others [1:00:10 AM] Skye: he taught 1 to read and a little bit of writing [1:00:19 AM] Skye: just enough for him to understand what he prattled on about for like an hour [1:01:05 AM] Skye: and 5 is just like completely fascinated with everything 2 shows him so 2 5 and the twins have like this nerd party [1:01:22 AM] Skye: 1 and 7 and 8 are like "so long nerds we're off to kick some robot ass"
