Science is spiritual!
Learning how the world works doesn’t strip it of magic, it reveals even more of it. The more I understand the universe, the more sacred it feels.
Say it with me: Science and magic are not mutually exclusive, in fact, the only thing that differentiates the two is what mainstream society understands!
Our ancestors never knew that Màni has been protecting us from falling stars by taking the impacts himself, but we know.
They never understood that Sól has the power to stitch together the most fundamental fibers of the universe to produce the primordial energy from which all life originates, but we understand.
Her power is often too strong for our world to withstand, but Jörd protects us from her most intense outbursts. We can see the glints of green and purple light as she shields us. Our ancestors didn’t know all this, but we do.
They never would have imagined that something like anthropogenic climate change could happen, and they certainly never would have imagined that Ægir would take so much of the burden of carbon emissions from us, at a great personal cost, and hopefully buy humanity enough time to change our course. But we can measure it.
Faith is believing that the Old Gods choose to protect us because they care about us, because they want to see us grow. Faith gives us a reason why, but science tells us how.

If your witchcraft, paganism, polytheism, folk practice what-have-you doesn't involve you sending furious emails and calls to local and national level representatives to get their shit together when they are having presentations about area development and changes and these plans will be actively harming the environment and the people living there, why do you even have a practice??? What are you doing with it? Is it just for shits and giggles and pretty stones and holier-than-thou attitude?? Also go fucking vote at local and national level elections, they are not beneath you
White practitioners love to use magic as a cop out for direct activism. While I won't discount the significance of a working, I will look at you sideways if that working isn't paired with physically discernible advocacy.
100% agree i want to make a note here that you do not need to know everything about your local wildlife to be able to partake in this advocacy, find groups that know more then you . Find groups that have goals that are similar to yours find groups that advocate for those goals. Email them tell them your skills tell them why you want to help. Show them your passion your willingness to learn. You can be actively learning and advocating at the same time. I'm being wildlife specific here but this counts for any cause. We need people to form connections and networks we can do so much more together. Offer to help. Do things that are visable to your local community, show that people care. And that maybe the people who see that care need to start caring too.

-Hammer.
-Being historically beloved by the "common man"/working class.
-Having to die for apocalyptic/world-ending reasons in many stories.
-Being weaponized by white supremacists to make the world a worse place.
before you ask "are the gods mad at me?" THINK:
have you...
1. killed or maimed someone
2. killed or maimed an animal for purposes other than consuming/processing it
3. knowingly and purposefully hurled vile obscenities or insults at any god or gods
4. made it a life goal to be a terrible person
5. been a terf

if there is some measure of judgement passed after death for admittance into any kind of afterlife it's like, bullshit that they're still judging our actions to that degree in the era where our brains are filled with microplastics.
those are DEFINITELY inhibiting my decision making. i CANNOT be held to the same standards as some visogoth who exclusively ate sheeps brain and yak milk.
yuuuuuuuuuup that's getting grafted into my belief system

Magic Class #1 ~ Ward Your Name
In today's modern world, the power of words, particularly names, has largely been forgotten. We give out our names freely and without much thought. But the power of names has been told in stories for thousands of years.
In the old lands in Europe, stories of malevolent faeries and tricksters have been told for generations, warning the children, and any who would listen, to never give your name to a faerie. The protagonists of these stories were clever, and quick to think on their feet. They'd lie or dodge the question, but no matter what, they were never to hand over their name.
They understood that the power of a name gives someone power over another.
In Egypt, the Goddess Isis obtained unfathomable power by tricking King Ra into telling her his name, turning her from an already powerful spirit into a goddess of overwhelming authority and strength.
Still to this day in modern exorcisms, learning the name of the offending demon is considered a crucial step into banishing it from the victim.
From a modern perspective, it's well known that you should never have your full name out there on the Internet. You never know who can find you, and what people can do to you.
All that being said, it is no surprise that warding your name can be a crucial, but overlooked practice. And it is not even particularly hard to do. Whether you can do this daily, weekly, or whenever you can remember to do it; at least it is done.
Use the power of your spoken word to ward your name. Here is an example.
"Through the power of my spoken word, may my name (insert name), be shielded from the mouths of vipers who would dare to poison my reputation, my blessings, my body and mind. May wealth shower over me when I am spoken of in conversation, whether I am present or not. May my name spoken in joy double my own happiness and may my name spoken in anger fill the room with calm. May lies spoken against my name be revealed, and may evil attached to my name be banished. When the name (insert name) is spoken or imagined, may all malice be transmuted, and all affection be amplified. So it is, amen."
It is suggested that all names that you use or don't use be warded as well. For any person who doesn't use their birth name, the old name should still be warded. If you are transgender, warding your dead name can cause people who speak it to change their minds, or send wealth your way. If you still have to use your dead name on legal documents, the same idea applies.
Happy warding!
Happy Mother's Day!

This sort of depiction of Great Mother ʾAsherah is always especially moving to me, even more so than anthropomorphic ones. There's just something very striking about seeing Her in such a raw, natural form. She's feeding the creatures of the Earth, She's feeding us all of Herself.

I'd like to say more on the subject of ʾAsherah's iconography another day. Shalom 𐤔𐤋𐤌, Great Mother!
