Awkwardly, she sits back on the bench, trying to pretend she wasn't ready for a fight a second ago.
"Hi. You... really brought it."
“Of course I did.” He nodded, holding it out to her. He made a very strange sound at his carnivine, the plant keeping its distance from her without fully letting go of Darkrai.
“You deserve nice things.”
Miku carefully takes the guitar from his hands, then scoffs.
"You don't fucking know me."
She takes a few steps back from her, a vaguely amused expression on his face, “Do you think that matters? Everyone deserves kindness.”
"Pretty naive for a nightmare horror."
Miku inspects the guitar more closely. Is this new?
He huffed, amused, “Oh please, I have seen the worst both humanity and Pokémon can do. Been a victim of it. I still believe in kindness.”
It is, in fact, a brand new guitar.
"If you've seen the worst, you know there's people it's stupid to be kind to."
Miku puts her hand on the frets, fingering a few chords.
"I don't have a reputation for being approachable." He shrugged, absentmindedly tugging at the bandages around his hands and wrists. There are flowers doodled all over them. "I do not trust blindly." "Is it a good one? I don't know much about guitars." He watches her play. He's been able to hear for years, thank you modern technology, but he still can't quite get over it.
"You know this is me on my best behavior, right? I'm not exactly a great person."
Miku sighs and puts the guitar down.
"...Yeah. It's good."
“From what I have gathered you were in a terrible situation.” Darkrai shook his head, “I don’t blame you for any actions. I am not the Judge.”
He smiles, just barely. It’s a weird look on him, the guy with chronic rbf. “Glad to hear it.”
"If you think I only started being a bad person when I started trying to save Shiokawa and the world and whatever, maybe you should try being a bit smarter."
She's still looking at the guitar. She doesn't even notice the smile.
“I believe in change.” He sat down on a chair, feeding his carnivine snacks, “Besides, you’re still young. You have time.”
Miku freezes for a moment, processing what Darkrai said.
Then she begins to laugh.
It starts as a small chuckle, but grows stronger by the second until it's all-consuming. If she wasn't already sitting down, she might have fallen.
He waited patiently for her to stop laughing, just… staring.
“Are you done?”
Miku takes a few breaths, wiping the tears from her eyes.
"Yeah. Yeah, I'm done. Time."
The last word is said almost under her breath, with another snort.
He tilted his head, “What was that last word?”
He tapped one of his hearing aids, making a face at it. He couldn’t hear mumbling very well, even with them.
"Nothing. It's just really obvious you don't know what the hell you're talking about."
“Well, I have been a recluse for a long ass time.” He shrugged, “But I know this world much better than you do, being hatched here.”
Miku pauses for a moment to process the word "hatched," then rolls her eyes.
"Yeah, and I know *me* a hell of a lot better than you do. The only 'time' I've ever had is a good time."
“So you think you are here for a good time and not a long time.” Darkrai tilted his head, “And yes, I said hatched. I am a Pokémon. We come from eggs.”
"I don't just think it. When you don't have a future it's obvious. Frankly surprising I even made it this long."

Most pokemon centers and probably the community center you're at will have a list of pokemon looking for homes if you'd rather do it that way. I'm fostering some myself. Look at the foster cards in my pinned if you don't see any options where you are?

Darkrai, holding a red acoustic guitar, and a carnivine partially wrapped around him. The carnivine has a service Pokémon vest.

Miku bolts to her feet at Darkrai's sudden appearance, but the tension in her body mostly dissolves once she's had a chance to see it's him.
Awkwardly, she sits back on the bench, trying to pretend she wasn't ready for a fight a second ago.
"Hi. You... really brought it."
“Of course I did.” He nodded, holding it out to her. He made a very strange sound at his carnivine, the plant keeping its distance from her without fully letting go of Darkrai.
“You deserve nice things.”
Miku carefully takes the guitar from his hands, then scoffs.
"You don't fucking know me."
She takes a few steps back from her, a vaguely amused expression on his face, “Do you think that matters? Everyone deserves kindness.”
"Pretty naive for a nightmare horror."
Miku inspects the guitar more closely. Is this new?
He huffed, amused, “Oh please, I have seen the worst both humanity and Pokémon can do. Been a victim of it. I still believe in kindness.”
It is, in fact, a brand new guitar.
"If you've seen the worst, you know there's people it's stupid to be kind to."
Miku puts her hand on the frets, fingering a few chords.
"I don't have a reputation for being approachable." He shrugged, absentmindedly tugging at the bandages around his hands and wrists. There are flowers doodled all over them. "I do not trust blindly." "Is it a good one? I don't know much about guitars." He watches her play. He's been able to hear for years, thank you modern technology, but he still can't quite get over it.
"You know this is me on my best behavior, right? I'm not exactly a great person."
Miku sighs and puts the guitar down.
"...Yeah. It's good."
“From what I have gathered you were in a terrible situation.” Darkrai shook his head, “I don’t blame you for any actions. I am not the Judge.”
He smiles, just barely. It’s a weird look on him, the guy with chronic rbf. “Glad to hear it.”
"If you think I only started being a bad person when I started trying to save Shiokawa and the world and whatever, maybe you should try being a bit smarter."
She's still looking at the guitar. She doesn't even notice the smile.
“I believe in change.” He sat down on a chair, feeding his carnivine snacks, “Besides, you’re still young. You have time.”
Miku freezes for a moment, processing what Darkrai said.
Then she begins to laugh.
It starts as a small chuckle, but grows stronger by the second until it's all-consuming. If she wasn't already sitting down, she might have fallen.
He waited patiently for her to stop laughing, just… staring.
“Are you done?”
Miku takes a few breaths, wiping the tears from her eyes.
"Yeah. Yeah, I'm done. Time."
The last word is said almost under her breath, with another snort.

and if the balls are safe isn't what i'm worried about. i just don't get what the hell they are or how they're supposed to work.
