His family was once of prominent nobility but has since been reduced to nothing more than ash by his own doing. He no longer wears the crest of his name but continues to go by it. 

He would be recognizable by most with political and noble affiliation, though his hair has begun to turn white over the years. 

He LOVES dogs, so if you have one he’ll more than likely have treats to give! :) Dogs should be able to sniff them out from him too if he’s nearby.

He travels fairly frequently, mostly to acquire reagents, herbs, and other items, and will often make connections with people who can trade and supply him with what he needs. 

He has no magical ability but dabbles in witchcraft; creating or drawing charms, wards, diagrams, blending potpourri for pendants, and crafting herbal soaks or potions.

If you got a ghost problem, yo, he'll solve it. His life is now dedicated to assisting the dead as best he can. 

While he's unable to help most spirits pass on (as he's not a priest or cleric) he works to find the source of hauntings and activity and communicate with them if he's able to. If he's unfit to send the spirits on their way on his own, he will reach out to those who can so together they can lay those souls to rest.

I don’t frequently play due to a hectic IRL schedule so my ingame presence is kind of sporadic. I’m usually available on Tumblr though!

“ i don’t want your prayers. ”

Though the piece of parchment was only featherlight - to the real world - but to him it felt like lead in his smooth hands. Stained by ink in a most charismatic hand, the words were anything but:

"I don't want your prayers."

Ripped from a book and left haphazardly on the writing desk in his study, Alexei had found the message waiting for him when he arrived that evening. How long had it been there? And had she lingered long inside this room? Already since arriving the maiden dipped in winesweet shadow had caressed the ivory keys of his piano, jewel-encrusted emblems and trick doors with the help of one rogue and one outlaw. To consider Hazriel wouldn't have touched the few trinkets and decor in his office would be foolish.

But he had nothing to hide.

It wasn't anger that bubbled up inside of him, only...an odd understanding. His care for her had been swept away - tossed aside - thrown right back into his face. And though the piece of parchment paper only spelled out five words there was so much more to the message Hazriel had given him. There was depth in the way she curled her letters, or the way she struck her t's. The intention behind it was surely one of aggravation but the more Alexei studied the brief letter the more he understood. 

While the entirety of his company was wandering about the remnants of locals in the city, Alexei helped himself to the guest quarters in his expansive home. Peering into each room, every member seemed to have everything untouched - protective measures were where they had been placed and left. But once he opened the door to Hazriel's room he found that the bed had been shoved aside and the chalk diagram swept away, the rug nearby in a bundle. A satchel of herbs that had been hanging beneath the bed had also been crushed on the dresser. Beyond that, another ward over the doorway had been misplaced as well.

It was fine.

Still, he took with him something she would not miss - a few strings of hair left on her pillow. With it, he tied those delicate strands around her note after rolling it up and carried himself off to his most favored room in the house to create a new protection spell. The bound note was then soaked in an oil of lavender and crushed amethyst while he worked at his desk on turning dried bay leaves and fresh sage into a fine powder. 

An old, worn book laid open while he worked in the small room, lit by the sun through tall windows by day and by candle only at night. It was filled with living plants, with tall chests and shelves stocked with a myriad of oddities and curiosities. He felt the most peace here and had lined the walls with as many wards as he could draw and frequently fumigated with sage smoke to ensure the peace would remain.

Once he was finished he pulled over a jar from a nearby shelf and set the cork to it down. He then placed the oil-soaked note with Hazriel's fingerprints, her hair, and her words inside of the jar before sprinkling over the dusted mixture he had crafted, topped off with dried wildflowers of varying hues that he thought fit her beauty best; alabaster, crimson, and wine.

He then lit a charcoal disc and dropped it inside, lifted himself up to his feet to face the sun where light could not be snuffed out by darkness, and as it burned he lifted the jar up his body and over his head. 

Hazriel said she did not want his prayers but he offered them up anyway; speaking in a hushed tone as he did so.

It was fine.

She didn't have to know. 

And she never would - not with that jar of limitless prayers hidden safe from her delicate fingers and lovely eyes.

“Good, good, you’re heartless, nothing to give,” she waved him off like a pesky fly in her ear. “Did you ever consider that’s why I brought you along?” Hazriel glanced over her shoulder to gauge a reaction as she continued to walk away.

An air of silence grew as they travelled down the long hallway, one she cultivated further by letting herself walk into the mists of darkness beyond natural human perceptions. Only the sound of the creaking floors and wind through windowpanes and groaning wooden ribs accompanied them into the depths of the house. Then, her hand abruptly raised to a halt. From the darkness, she narrowed her eyes once more; her evaluating glare held no intent to hide as it swam with molten golden judgment.

“It must bother you enough if you’re telling me of all people we’ve mutual connections with.” Finally, a stained hand gestured for him to follow as she explained, “Easier for truths to roll off the tongue when you’ve no honest investment in who receives them, but I will offer you this: Find something else to give if it is your heart that now haunts you.”

An unnatural wailing picked up in the wind and screamed down the hallway, blowing past the two with a hair-raising chill. Hazriel shuddered but completed her thought nonetheless, “Besides, if one were truly so heartless, they could not conjure up worry and grief to voice their concerns over it as you do.” Somehow, her words held equal insight and insult.

“Now, shall we follow whatever that was?”
