Enoughness
She pours blood, sweat and tears,
Into her life, her vision, her love,
Her stuttered breath screaming into the gaping chasm,
Of all her hopeless hopes, gone to die, buried, to be forgotten.
Her greatest fear, looms ever present at her shoulder,
To fade into the wind, with nary a whisper, no effect, but a shiver,
As if that was all she could ever amount to be,
Fleeting, shadowed, overcome, swallowed.
Oh, you ambitious little try-hard, is this even necessary?
Your pain and your achy body,
Won't you rest little one? Leave those dreams behind?
You're not cut out for this, darling. Go home, you're fine.
You don't need to live like this, you have nothing to prove,
Not to your family who put this weight on you,
Not to those goddamn fucking adults and their expectations,
Not even to you.
Rest, love. It'll be alright.
You have no one but yourself to fight,
This struggle that you're in, wading through quicksand, wearing you down,
You're enough. You're okay.
Just, step down.
Step down, off that cliff,
Stop screaming into the chasm,
No one is there to hear you, you're voice is echoing into nothingness,
I love you, you know that? I love you.
I'll take care of you. I'll tell you that you're good, you're great, you're perfect,
If no else wants to,
I'll tell you that you are exceptional, wonderful, beautiful,
If no one else dares to.
You do you babe, okay?
You will get there,
And even if you don't, that is fine too,
Because you don't owe the world anything for existing,
Your life, your worth, and your love, is unquestionable. Impeachable.
No one can take that away from you,
No one can deny you,
The simple pleasure of contentment,
The soothing acknowledgement of enoughness.
