Merci is seated at the counter of the bar. She was just here for her pavement and some food for the road.
She looked up as she heard the doors slide open and a rowdy bunch came in.
Pirates by the look of them.
She watched them come in before returning to talking to the waitress.
@a-merciful-end
The leader of them chuckled from under the dark helmet he wore as he walked past the others and over to the waitress.
"I need directions to track a ship, rumor has it that you have those?" He asked before noticing the other next to him. "Well hi there."
He chuckled with a smile. "Well I think that the coordinates should stay with the captain don't you agree? Seems only logical."
She stares at him. Resisting the urge to seat his hands away. She didn’t like him touching her helmet.
“This is the way.” She replies.
One of the crew wolf whistles at them.
“Kriff off.”
He chuckled with a smile. "Of course it's the way." He shrugged leading her over to the control panel. "So if you would be so kind?"
She pulls out the coordinates and plugs them into the computer. Typing in something encoded in order to let her through.
“There. Now it should be as simple as following the map.” She takes the chip back and slips it into that compartment again.
He smiled grabbing her wrist in his own hand. "I do hope that my crew is wrong about you. You have no reason to betray us right?"
“I’m a Mandelorian. I will honour my word. This is the way.” She replies.
“We do not tolerate liars or cheaters. I am neither.” She sounds offended.
He smiled with a chuckle. "That's a shame because you'd make a great pirate honestly."
She glares at him through the helmet. Not that he can tell. And then stands. “Your navigational computer should be able to take it from here. But should anything happen to this chip the directions will disappear. So don’t get clever.”

Conner lands on the surface of a brand new planet much further than he's ever been from earth before, the ground around him rippling and shaking from the impact much like it would if a meteorite hit the planet. He stands up and pushes his round framed sunglasses up, his bright red and blue costume with the black leather jacket and his family emblem on the chest makes him stand out no matter what planet he's on. He had gone as far as holding his breath in space could possibly get him and truth be told he wanted to brag but wasn't sure if that would be impressive to anyone here so he decides to keep quiet about it until he can go back home
Out from the tree line an armor clad woman appears. She’s holding some source of light. It’s like a sword.
“State your business!” She barks. Her voice modulate through the helmet she’s wearing.
"Tourism, mostly," he shrugs. "Helping anyone who needs it while I'm out this way. I'm a hero on my planet, my full time job is saving lives, not a whole lot of chances to test the outer limits of my abilities so I figured while I got the downtime and we have an abundance of help back home I might as well take advantage of it and see how far I could get before I couldn't hold my breath in the vacuum of space anymore. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting to be able to understand many languages out this way"
“Well I speak basic.” She replies.
“Where are you from?” She asks cautiously as she approaches him.
"That's a pretty vague name for a language, im assuming this planet is within a vast empire or republic of some kind then? Sorry, I'm not as caught up on interplanetary politics as I should be, one of my friends is always getting onto me for it," he chuckles.
He turns and points towards the sky, "way out there, that exact direction even. There's a planet named Earth, or some people call it Terra. Though, if we wanna get technical," he turns another direction and gestures more vaguely to the sky, "somewhere over there are fragments of an entire solar system that was destroyed years ago, and part of my DNA is from a man who was born there but sent to earth to survive the destruction. Im a clone with two different parent DNA samples, the cloning process kept churning out unstable clones so the man who cloned me added some of his own DNA to try and stabilize me. I actually consider myself the second successful clone of my dad, there's one who's nonverbal and aggressive but he hasn't decayed or combusted yet so I count that as a successful older clone brother, he's just got some developmental issues is all," he smiles, turning back to face her. He clearly thinks very fondly of who he calls family
“You’re a clone. But not from this system?” She asks to clarify.
“What’s your name?”
"Yeah, I'm not sure what kind of clones you guys have out here but I'm... well, let's just say my dad didn't know he was being cloned until I was saved from the lab by my friends and he came to give them backup only to find a near identical teenage copy of himself staring up at the moon," he chuckles.
"Well, everyone back home calls me Superboy, but... eh, nobody out here is ever gonna make it back to earth to tattle for exposing my secret identity, my name is Conner Kent. What's yours?"
“Merci Jexar.” She replies. Turning off the light sabre.
“Are you hungry?” She asks.
"Always, I use a lot of energy constantly but especially after moving at speeds capable of breaking the sound barrier with very little yellow sun light to get energy from... i am aware that I sound like maybe I am also part plant but I swear I'm not, kryptonians are just weird in yellow sun light for some reason"
“Kryptonian… never heard of them. I’m a Mandelorian.” She replies. Attempting small talk.
She gestures for him to follow her. And leads on into the forest.
"I'm not surprised, honestly... they haven't explored the cosmos in... hundreds of years... all of their colony planets were abandoned centuries ago. My dad was sent to earth as a baby 30 years ago and... well, he didn't know about krypton at all until he was in his 20s... when Krypton died nobody really noticed, they'd isolated themselves from all other races for so long. Dad and his cousin are the last full blooded kryptonians from Krypton in the galaxy that we know of besides their pets. Match, the other clone, he's full blooded kryptonian but he's not from krypton... I'm just enough human to stabilize me and my little brother is half human... we're nearly extinct," he shrugs, his smile falling. He follows her, stuffing his gloved hands into his jacket pockets. "I've never heard of mandalorians, but the furthest I've ever been before today was halfway between here and earth, a planet called Tamaran. One of my friends is the crown princess of the tamaranian empire, kindhearted people but with a love for battle, she was the first to comfort me about the meaning of the kryptonian name my grandfather's ai brainscan gave me... he started calling me Kon, it means Abomination..."
“So then you are a foundling. Like me.” She replies. She stops walking when she hears the insult that he is called.
“My people have a saying. It does not matter. Who your father is. Only the kind of father you will be.” She says.
“It sounds like your grandfather was wrong about a lot of things. He sounds unbalanced.” She says.
The sunlight filters in through the trees and lights up the blue Crystal hanging around her neck.
“As long as a man has honour. It does not matter what he is called.”
"He was... prejudiced against clones. Knowing how terribly attempts at cloning my dad have gone... i can't bring myself to be upset at him for it. For years, every attempt at cloning my dad turned our disfigured, barely able to think for itself, and incapable of understanding complex concepts... most died quickly after they were created. To an outsider, that's a monster... to me, that's what it took for me and Match to be able to exist... those are my family, taken from this world after being brought into it suffering. If they had never existed, then Match and I wouldn't either. Dad cares. He's bad at expressing it consistently, but he cares... no matter how he struggles with his words, I can see it in his eyes. And my tanaranian friend says that my name is not a reflection of who I am but what others fear when they harm those I care about. I like the way she thinks of it... because she's right, when people hurt my family I lose control of myself and it quickly goes from a fair fight to a rage feuled beat down"
“A lot of people are prejudiced against clones. That doesn’t excuse their actions. A lot of people are afraid of Mandelorians too. People fear what they do not understand.” She replies.
“Even where I come from people fear me for who my mother was. There was a war between my people and hers. But she is gone now. And only I remain.” Merci says softly.
“You sound like you would make a good Mandelorian.” She compliments.
"Is mandalorian like a religion? Doesn't sound much like a specific race with how you talk about it... it sounds nice though..." he glances over at her. "Unless I have to wear a bunch of armor and a helmet, not exactly my style but I do know at least one person who would get a kick out of wearing armor all the time, he's... well he's complicated, he's died before and now he wants revenge on his killer and he's constantly breaking his dad's rules over it... especially the big no killing rule"
“Mandelorian are both a religion and a people. I was not born Mandelorian. I was a foundling and my father who was mandelorian adopted me into it.” She replies.
“We wear Armor but not all the time. We are allowed to remove our armour amongst family.” She replies. “This is the way.”
“You do not kill?” She asks.
"That sounds pretty interesting... not too sure it's for me, though, armor is kinda pointless for me anyways, I can't be hurt by much..."
He shrugs, "no, we help people even when they do bad... the man who cloned me was considered a villain, now he's like an uncle to me and is doing his best to help us and be a hero himself. You can't give someone a chance to improve like that if you kill them"
“It’s not about protection. It’s about unity.” Merci replies.
“It is hard for my people to find peaceful work. We are mostly bounty hunters now.”
He raises a brow, "so, the armor shows you're part of the same group...? My emblem does that... the people of earth think it's a part of one of our many writing systems, an s for super... but it's actually an entire kryptonian word, Hope... it's also the family crest of the House of El... my family... dad is Kal-el, his cousin is Kara Zor-el, I'm Kon-el... my little brother kept his earth name and just added El on the end for his kryptonian name," he laughs. "He wasn't letting gramps name him after he found out what my name meant. We all wear this emblem on our chests... Match, too, though he also marked one into his chest with his heat vision and its backwards because he did it in a mirror... he's not allowed to be left alone anymore"
She goes quiet a moment. And it’s unclear what she’s thinking due to the mask. But then she keeps walking.
“My mother named me. My name is the last word she said out loud.” She says softly as they approach a ship.
His face pales, he couldn't imagine being named in such a way. He follows her, "that's... rough, I can't even imagine... on earth names aren't usually so thought out anymore... heck, dad's name was a panic choice, the sheriff showed up to check on my grandparents after the meteorshower that my dad came to earth in and dad ran right out into view when they were trying to hide him. They knew he came from space with all the debris, but they didn't have a plan in place for anything. They hadn't even decided yet if they were going to keep him. When the sheriff asked, Ma blurted out that his name was Clark... he's been Clark Kent ever since. No real reason for it, was just the first name Ma could think of..." as he relaxes his country twang slips out in his accent more. "Dad grew up on a farm... he learned good values, developed powers and started using them to help people... nobody asked him to, nobody expected him to, but he did it... at first people were skeptical but they warmed up to him and now he's getting parades and parties thrown in his honor everywhere he goes when he wears the emblem... i understand it might not pay for necessities, but mandalorians could do a lot more than bounty hunting if any of you wanted to... everyone needs help sometime"
“I take it you don’t visit this system a lot.” Merci replies as she opens the door to her ship.
“Here people would just as soon shoot you as say hello.”
“The mandelorians at least fight with honor. We are warriors like Mandelore the Great himself.”
"First time, actually, I um... I rarely leave Earth's orbit, let alone my solar system. Too much to do, too many people to help... pets get stuck in trees, people get attacked in the streets, banks get robbed, and I help with it all just like dad..."
"Sounds like Mandalorians and Tamaranians would get along great, I should try to get my friend out this way some time"
“I would enjoy meeting them.” She replies. As she heads to the kitchen. She measures out some powdered stuff and adds water. And a loaf of bread appears.
The rest of the food is also watered and then becomes something semi edible looking.
She hands him the tray. And sits down opposite him.
“Tell me more about your family.”
Merci is seated at the counter of the bar. She was just here for her pavement and some food for the road.
She looked up as she heard the doors slide open and a rowdy bunch came in.
Pirates by the look of them.
She watched them come in before returning to talking to the waitress.
@a-merciful-end
The leader of them chuckled from under the dark helmet he wore as he walked past the others and over to the waitress.
"I need directions to track a ship, rumor has it that you have those?" He asked before noticing the other next to him. "Well hi there."
“I’m afraid I don’t sir.” The waitress replies.
The Mandelorian stares up at him. “What kind of ship?” She asks. Her voice modulated through the helmet.
He smiled curiously at her from under the helmet he was wearing. "I don't see how that is any concern of yours."
“It’s a concern of mine if you want my help.” Merci retorts.
“Depending on the make and model of the ship I can track it. For a price…I’m a bounty hunter.” She replies bluntly.
His eyes widened as he chuckled. "Well my apologies then perhaps you can be of use to me after all. We were tracking a ship that was meant to be carrying millions in gold until it went hyper and vanished."
She stands up and as she moves closer to him she feels something. Like she’s being pulled towards him.
She’s reminded of that feeling. Reminded of a feeling she barely remembers. Her mother.
She freezes. Cocking her head to the side.
“What’s your name?” She asks the man. Crossing her arms over her chest as she looked up at him.
He frowned having not experienced her to be shorter than him due to how she spoke and carried herself.
"Silvo. Mad Captain Silvo at your service. And yourself?"
He frowned as he was able if only slightly to feel the same feeling coming from her but had mostly forgotten what it meant due to the last time he felt it being years ago.
“Merci Jexar.” She replies. “So if I were to help you Captain… what would my cut be?” She asks. Moving closer to him as if magnetized.
He chuckled. "Smart girl to ask such. That would depend on how useful you are to me." He shrugged taking a small step back from her confused as to why she was getting closer to him.
“Oh I always make myself useful Mesh’la.” She replies. Her tone now marginally more saucy than her usual seductive purr.
“The question is. Are you worth my time? How much do you trust your source?” She asks.
He frowned not sure that himself as he glanced at Brutus as he had been the one to have heard about it. "It varries." He muttered. "But most times yes."
The waitress approaches. And hands Merci her bag of food.
“Thank you.” She says as the Waitress scurries off. She then turns back to Jod.
“I was just about to eat. Meet me on my ship in fourty minutes. It’s on docking bay G.” Merci orders.
As she’s walking by a few men turn to watch her leave. Staring shamelessly at her.
He chuckled with a smile as he watched her leave.
Brutus glared watching her as well before walking over to him. "You really expect us to work with someone like that, perhaps you are more mad than just in name." He growled as he watched him leave past him.
__________
"Is there a reason why we ate taking your ship and not mine?" He asked curiously as he walked into the ship with the other pirates.
“We aren’t taking my ship. We’re getting the coordinates for your mystery ship.” She replies. “I’m not reinstalling this on your ship when I could get the coordinates here. And bring them to your ship.” Merci replies beckoning for them to follow her.
“And before any of you get any ideas. I know exactly what is in my ship and should you steal a screw from it I will kill you all.” She threatens.
“I think we could take you sweetheart.” One of the pirates retorts.
She’s drawn her gun in half a second.
“Try me.” She aims at the man who spoke.
"Enough." Silvo sighed placing a hand on her shoulder to steady her. "We understand perfectly no need for that I can assure you." He shrugged.
"We are partners in this now and need to work together." He sighed.
She bats his hand off her shoulder. But does lower her weapon.
She stares them all down for a minute before moving.
“So what ship am I looking for” She asks taking a seat at her console.
He frowned. "We are pretty sure that it was a cargo ship headed for Tatooine but it could be anywhere between here and there."
She types in a few commands to her system.
“A class B Cargo ship?” She asks. “They’re heavy duty and would be able to carry a large amount of weight. Also. Good security. If I were to be transporting a large amount of credits. It’s the kind of ship I’d use… anything else would be too easy to rob… this has to be it.” She replies. Pulling out the chip and shoving it behind her breastplate. Into a slot she had specifically made for it.
She grabs her bag.
“Let’s go boys.”
He smiled slightly impressed before he followed her back to his own ship.
"I don't trust her and nor should you. Bounty hunters are dangerous Silvo you don't want them as a friend or an enemy.
He frowned removing the helmet he'd been wearing prior. "Well I trust her. I don't know why there's just something about her."
She closes and locks down her ship as she leaves.
“Will you not lead the way Captain? I don’t know where I’m headed.” Merci reminds him.
Oh he’s handsome. But still a pirate. Not to be trusted. Still. A girl had to eat.
He chuckled with a smile nodding as he lead her back to his ship. "You should rest I can take the directions from here." He smiled offering her his hand for the coordinants.
“I’m not a fool pirate. I am these coordinates. They go where I do.” She replies.
She instead gives him her empty, gloved hand. As if to prove the point.

“You do not kill?” She asks.
Merci is seated at the counter of the bar. She was just here for her pavement and some food for the road.
She looked up as she heard the doors slide open and a rowdy bunch came in.
Pirates by the look of them.
She watched them come in before returning to talking to the waitress.
@a-merciful-end

Merci is seated at the counter of the bar. She was just here for her pavement and some food for the road.
She looked up as she heard the doors slide open and a rowdy bunch came in.
Pirates by the look of them.
She watched them come in before returning to talking to the waitress.
@a-merciful-end
