Here I am talking about 100 yq in big 2025 but

HE WOULD NOT

Okay for those who don’t know, basically Laxus is talking with Mistfortune (an exceed that appears earlier in the manga) and it’s actually cute, then they make Freed say “Don’t take my place!” Like ????? I was thinking about how Laxus having Mistfortune as an exceed would be so great and that the newer chapters weren’t all that bad but they really had to ruin it!?!?

Like why on earth would Freed be jealous of an exceed ?… Like please that makes no sense. And is so unlike his characters. Like are we trying to turn him into a from Wish Juvia ?

Anyway, I hate how all the potential of my fav character has been sucked out of him to make him another joke character that really feels offensive.

It’s such a bummer.

The 100YQ disappoints me so much with how they’ve treated Freed and the Raijinshuu. What happened to the calm and serious Freed we were introduced to?

I liked how Hiro Mashima balanced Freed’s admiration for Laxus early on. Like, yeah we’d get funny moments of Freed crying over Laxus or defending him just as comically…. But what made it funny was that it was occasional and not his whole character/personality.

Now it seems that every chapter of the 100YQ that Freed even appears in he HAS to be fawning over Laxus in some exaggerated or jealous way. It’s old.

And honestly, I hope Laxus doesn’t get an exceed or even another love interest. Especially if they’re just going to make Freed jealous 24/7 or push the Raijinshuu even further into the background.

Look, I know Laxus is the cool S-Class mage that dominates all his battles and is one of Fairy Tail’s strongest. The one who comes to the rescue when things get serious… but the Raijinshuu is still his team. His closest friends.

I wish they would just show that.

Show the Raijinshuu being badass and actually supporting Laxus in battle. Not just cheering him on like some yes-men. Show them fighting as a team and working together. Not just having Laxus wander off on his own yet again as the Raijinshuu are left behind to wait for him. And when Laxus does go off on his own? Give the Raijinshuu something to say or do that doesn’t completely revolve around him.

Show that they are characters on their own too.

The beginning of this 100YQ chapter was actually on the right track. Having Freed doing recon for Makarov. But this throw away joke later in the same chapter completely diminishes it imo.

But that’s just my take on it, I guess.

Right?! Like when Freed put a barrier around the entire city, he was so badass, even telling Laxus to stay where he was because they could handle it. Where's that Freed gone?

Drabble: Thunder + Laxus

Thunder rumbled overhead. Freed cowered at the side, trying to make himself small as the sound seemed to fill the tiny space that served as his room. In the dark, and with fear already churning in his guts, it sounded like a demon growling. He had always been afraid of storms, his mind always connecting it with that awful, fateful day when the darkness had first consumed him, and the monster lurking beneath his skin had made itself known. Much of that day had faded to a haze, his mind trying to protect him, but he always remembered the thunder, and the way lightning had ripped through the sky, as though more than his own small world was coming undone.

He couldn’t see the lightning now, the small window at the top of the room at an angle that made it impossible for him to see the sky. But the thunder was worse. Loud. Echoing. He wanted to scream, to cry, to run through and climb into his parents’ bed as he had when he was younger, before… now though the door wouldn’t open until morning, his parents would recoil if he crawled close to them.

All he could do was curl small, press his hands over his ears and pray for the storm to pass.

Thunder cracked overhead, louder than before as though to mock his prayer…

Freed jerked awake as thunder broke through his sleep, the memory so close to the surface that for a wild moment remembered terror locked him in place. Then the present intruded, the flickering night lacrima on the bedside table showing the size of the room, with the door cracked open and a large window currently barred against the night and the weather.

Thunder rumbled again and through the half-drawn curtain he saw lightning illuminate the sky, and even as the small boy in his memory recoiled and cowered, Freed felt a smile cross his lips.

He’s coming.

Anticipation quivered, cutting through the lingering threads of the nightmare, and he pushed the covers back and slid out. Finding the hoodie that he had purloined from his partner’s wardrobe weeks ago and wrenching it on, the weight and softness of the material, so like him settled him further as he hurried out of the room and downstairs, thunder building to a roar above his head.

Reaching the front door, he wrenched it open, just as there was an almighty crack in the sky above, so like the one that had torn through his childhood prayer. The sky grew bright for a moment, and he had to close his eyes briefly to protect himself.

Warmth engulfed him before he could open them, arms wrapping tightly around him, as lips pressed against his as the thunder rumbled one last time and then faded away. When he opened the sky, the storm was there in blazing blue eyes and a wide grin.

“Welcome home,” Freed murmured, leaning up to kiss Laxus again. Chasing the storm that had once been his deepest fear, and was now his home, his heart and his future.

“I’m home.”

Freed sat in his library, quietly reading by the soft lamp light. It was quiet and cozy, and the book was riveting. The sun was long past the horizon when he felt the presence in his doorway. 

He looked up to see Laxus standing with a deeper than usual scowl on his face and his arms crossed. 

“What time is it?” Freed asked, guilty.

“Three.” Laxus all but growled. 

“Sorry.” Freed mumbled, sliding his bookmark in and closing the book. He set it on his chair and turned off the lamp.

Laxus said nothing else as he led the other into the bedroom. He laid down and pulled the blanket down beside him.

Freed quickly brushed his teeth and stripped down to his boxers. He slid into the bed and welcomed the arms that wrapped around him in the dark. Laxus snuggled in tighter, pressing his face into Freed’s collarbone and practically purred. 

A lot of words came to mind when one looked at Laxus. Handsome. Powerful. Intimidating. Dangerous. Very few would look at him and think snuggly. In fact, there was only one who thought of snuggly whenever he looked over at the blond hair beside him. The couple could go weeks without seeing each other without any issue, but whenever they were together, it was like Laxus had an empty tank that he needed to refuel in bulk. 

Freed didn't mind. The massive arms wrapped around him made him feel safe and warm as he pressed a kiss into Laxus' hair, then shuffled into a cozier spot and drifted asleep.
