I still remember.
In the midst of frenzied attempts to finish my work late into the night, there are moments when I decide enough is enough and I stop for awhile; nights when I flick the light switch, light a candle in front of the cross, sit on my bed & lean on the wall beside the window so I can feel the gentle breeze graze my right cheek, and say a prayer for you - that you’ll continue to be great at what you do and everything that you hope to do; that you realise your God-given talents and lead a purposeful life; that you never, ever give up on your dreams because your parents said or will say no; and that you’ll always have that “spark” in you.
I pray for a great deal of things and amongst them, I pray that I will one day have the courage to mend what is broken and to restore our friendship. Until then, I hope you won’t think ill of me and remember me as I once was.
Take care, old friend. Until we meet again.
