lets do xavier the cagipede for a change. how would xavier digest all the rocks with the expansion of his body? is it that the stomach can expand? or is the expanding matter just filler flesh and spine and ribcage

xavier's body doesn't really "digest" as one would see it—he doesn't have a throat let alone organs! instead, the minerals are absorbed into his body via the mouth (assuming they've been crushed first) and get spread throughout the body to form a sort of gradient which is softer outside and denser inside

this gets a little muddy with his whole shapeshifting ability but like I don't care........ already violates conversation of whatevers and it's probably just replicating the existing matter anwyays
