Maximizing Morning Productivity
i’ve been waking up at 5 forever and i still don’t feel ahead what am i doing wrong :(
Here are a few things I do to maximize productivity in the morning:
No phone zone. Charge your phone away from the bed so you don’t get on it and start scrolling as soon as your alarm goes off. Leave it there until you’re done studying! This also helps by forcing you to get out of bed to turn your alarm off - making you less likely to hit snooze.
No social media until later (I don’t even go through my notifications).
Breakfast. Eat a good breakfast with protein within 30 mins of waking up, drink a full glass of water and then coffee if you need it.
Prep the night before! Do anything and everything to make your next day less stressful and more productive (I make organize my study area, make cold brew, clean the kitchen, pack my lunch and prep my breakfast!). Make getting 8 hours of sleep a priority. Sometimes it’s unrealistic, but try your best!
Do something you enjoy first - I love eating and I love to go through my planner and get organized, so I do those things first! It also helps to get your day planned out early so you can choose what to focus on in your morning study session.
Prioritize things that will make your day less stressful. If you’re stressed about a particular task or class, review that material or get started on that assignment before any other.
Plan your day. When planning, make sure to keep the big picture in mind - what does your week look like? Think ahead.
Schedule your to-do list. I go through my to-do list and block off times on my daily schedule to get each item done. I think this is what makes me most productive - instead of having a vague to-do list of things I would like to get done eventually, I have a list of the things I’m going to do and a clear plan of when I’m going to do them.
Get stuff done! After planning out your time, get straight to work! I’m naturally a morning person so I do not have as many problems staying focused as I do at night time (This doesn’t mean staying focused is easy- it still takes a healthy dose of self discipline!). If you’re a night owl, waking up early to study may not be the most efficient use of your time!
