sometimes I think abt the very clear post-processing on the dingo killing voices and weep. like… I KNOW seventeen sound good live!! I know they do!!! but they sound sooo artificially tuned here and it just ruins by enjoyment. like thank god they shout and adlib so much bc it reallly sells what is kind of a dull recording otherwise

I’m literally always one turn away from thinking abt the choreo for spider again. like… man, the MV is good, but it’s the dance practice that I watch over and over and over and over again. and that’s because there’s simply so much to dig into
excuse my awful screenshot. right from the get there is SO much. first we have these prop pull up bar things, which is just suchhh a well-utilized set piece.
here it’s serving the purpose of giving hoshi a place to literally hang from, and immediately with his swaying and mid-air suspension we’ve communicated the idea of being trapped within a spiders web. the metal bars also create this lovely focus on depth bc of how they layer with each other, which really communicates this sense of like… being spiraled in. it’s crazy how well the idea of a “web” is conveyed when these are actually just rectangle frames if anything. and then of course the way hoshi dismounts, with these clockwise hand movements, really helps sell the radial makeup of a spiders web.
before we even get there, though, let’s pay special attention to HOW his hands stretch out—his fingers always come outstretched like so before curling onto the bar. it’s such a small detail but it 100% sells the mood of the song and hoshi’s presence. it gives me this really animalistic feeling somehow? like the spindly legs of a spider or something. I don’t know how to describe it really but it’s just so delicate and deliberate in a way that i adore.
…and that’s like, 5 seconds into the video. certainly I talked an extra amount because it’s an introduction and thus you begin with a lot of information to have to go through, but nonetheless. this is just one of those choreos that rewards you when you think about it harder.
