Once the trouble had passed, Justin led the way down the corridor and was happy when he felt the witch relax under his arm. He knew better than most the level of stress that Amity was feeling and the weight that was on her shoulders. He hated the situation for her and yearned to fix it, but it wasn’t something that could be so easily remedied. Instead, he was there for support. “Don’t mention it, Am. It’s what I’m here for.” He dismissed her gratitude easily, smiling at her term for her grandparents. One of the reasons himself and Amity got along so well was her ability to amuse him paired with his laid-back attitude that kept him from most moments of anger or conflict.
Not troubled by the silence between them as he began to count compartments in hopes of finding the one that he had only just vacated moments before, Justin only looked to Amity when she spoke up. It was then that he spotted the hint of sadness in the corners of her mouth, her smile made softer by the emotion. “They’ll have to either wise up or deal with the consequences,” He told her, laughing as he did so. “Besides, who knows, maybe you’ll mellow as you age.” Justin teased.
“Mellow? Me?” She scoffed at the very idea of it, knowing that her temper was somehow genetically ingrained into her. There was a reason for the fiery-tempered ginger stereotype, after all. “Here is hoping they learn their lesson, then - either that, or that I get expelled before I permanently maim someone.” It wasn’t as if she went around picking fights, and most of the time, she would walk away from those trying to instigate one. But sometimes, some people really just needed a good sock to the nose to straighten them out, and when those people pushed Amity, she was more than willing to do her part for society.
Raising a brow once she realized Justin had no idea where they were going, Ami couldn’t quite stop the amused smirk from tilting her lips. “Did you get us lost, Hair? On a train?” she teased. Shaking her head in feigned incredulity, she closed her eyes and did her best to focus her mind, reaching out with it. “4B, Finch-Fletchley. Honestly, how do you find your way around without me?”
