Akuma happily waited despite his boyfriend’s displeasure. All that could go through his mind was that he was awake. He was finally awake. And if Haru wasn’t in the cancer ward, cheering up other kids like the damn saint she was, he would totally be hugging her half to death with how happy he was. Content with sitting there, waiting, he kept his straightest face. Arms crossed, leg crossed, and sitting patiently in his chair for the nurse to check him thoroughly. Deducing he was fine enough, he rested his face in his hands. Tired and relieved, he leaned over a bit just to take a few deep breaths.
Only to after, feel fingers thread through his hair.
God, he’d be lying if he said he didn’t miss Mizuki’s touch. Closing his eyes for another second, he soon tilted his head up until he felt the hand on his face. And put his hand over Mizuki’s. Fuck. The feeling of his cracked, rough hand over the other’s slightly softer ones always amazed him.
“… I hope you didn’t sit here too much. That seems terribly boring”
Giving a light laugh, he shook his head and only shuffled closer, onto Mizuki’s bed. Really, he hated how clingy he must seem at the moment. But god, he felt like he was dreaming. And if he was, he didn’t want to wake up.
Sighing a bit, he’ll run a hand through Mizuki’s hair and smile just a bit. “Nah. I think this hospital doesn’t know a thing about the demon’s mouths. They just think we’re strangely tattooed people. It’s.. nice not to be kicked out of a hospital for once,” he murmured. “It was nice having something to wait for for once.”
Admitting that almost hurt his heart. Because he knew how much pain Haru had been through because of demon mouths. Because of all the pain he’s been through because of them. Because he remembered that rush of fear he had at the thought of being unable to be near Mizuki had they banned him and Haru. No thanks.
“But I have to admit, I’m obnoxiously angry at you still. I can’t… do this emotionally taxing shit, And this happened and I swear to god, you better thank Haru for convincing me how much I l… ca— … how much it’d suck if you woke up alone.”
If anything, Akuma being clingy made him feel better about all of this -- simply because it meant the other hadn't lost interest in him yet, nor harbored any excessive anger about what happened in general. It was probably enough that Mizuki couldn't forgive himself for his own idiocy; having someone he held so important be openly mad probably wouldn't make him feel any better. In the other hand, perhaps getting yelled at was what he needed to truly repent.
Tipping his head up to lean into the other's touch, he offered him a small, tired smile, nodding to confirm his words. "There aren't any... demons around here, and a lot of people have tattoos on their faces. Everyone probably thinks you're merely another Ribster; it's not unusual for them to hang around hospitals. Fighting happens a lot, so we get injured," his shoulders rose in a small shrug. Akuma's tattoo might've been one no doctor has seen before, but it didn't really matter, either; small groups existed too, after all.
"Well -- I'm glad you and Haru could take it easy for once. It's not a bad place, huh?" He could imagine Midorijima still confused the other a little, seeing as it seemed like Akuma had never even used internet before, but -- Mizuki had no qualms with teaching him, now that he could actually speak and interact with his boyfriend again. "And the people around these parts are good, too. I take it you haven't encountered any trouble when I was out -- ?"
Sucking in a short, relieved breath, it seems like the other did plan on scolding him after all -- even so, the small smile didn't disappear from his face, any emotion Akuma showed just another proof that all of this was real.
"I'm sorry. I really -- ... I just wanted to -- ... I couldn't stand watching my gang get so... cornered. I made a bold decision, and it was a wrong one. Maybe I shouldn't have been their leader at all," shrugging again, admitting it came to him easier than he expected; maybe all of this merely helped him mature a little. "I'll make sure to thank Haru for convincing you how much you l... ca -- .. how much it'd suck if I woke up alone. It would suck, by the way."
Seems like he still couldn't allow himself to skip a chance to tease the other a little, though.
