Operation Tumbler-Snapper's Charlie shot was a 31-kiloton device released from an aircraft and detonated over Area 7 of Yucca Flat at 9:30 AM. Hundreds of troops observed the test blast and participated in exercises following the detonation. It was the first atomic detonation to be broadcast live on television.
