I'm sorry, I know how bleak it is, but Trump didn't win by like 70%. Almost half of the country, millions of Americans, did not vote for him. We need to reckon with how many stupid, ugly people are in this country. No doubt about that. But there are still so many of us who have only ever rejected him. Millions of people voted for a black, Asian woman. Millions of people wanted a better future and we must not allow people to erase us. We're Americans, too. We want the best for this country and we're better than they are.
Seriously, I don't want history to be rewritten. He didn't win by Obama numbers or Reagan numbers. It was like Bush 2004. Republicans only picked up 2 Senate seats in ruby red states and 1 in a swing state. The makeup of the House didn't change much, either. It was a loss for Democrats, but it wasn't a landslide victory for Republicans, either. It was enough to win, but I am not erasing the millions of Americans who rejected fascism and wanted to break the glass ceiling.
