I was thinking about that infamous proposed name, Blessica Blimpson. No idea if it was a real, sincerely-written post or just a humour piece, don't really care.

But. I realised, it doesn't actually matter? The mother's point was that little kids wouldn't know it was a weird name, and she's right. Little kids wouldn't know it was a weird name. Adults would know, but as long as adults can be trusted not to be awful, little Blessica would be fine. And she'd apply for a job and her hiring manager would be one of three Khaleesis at the office.

I mean, your point with a passport still stands when it comes to travel to places like Canada, US and hypothetical Russia, so i didn't want to add this to that post, but also, yeah, we don't use driver's license as an id, we, thanks to a recent national database update, can use national ID in place of a driver's license.

When I first turned 18, having a driver's license as your primary sort of identity-verification ID was such an obvious default assumption that I got a license despite of the fact that I can't drive for shit. Whenever I tell people that I don't drive, they assume that I've never thought of taking driving lessons. I did pass the test on like my 5th try, though I have a hunch that the guy might've passed me just to never see me again.

unfortunately i dont think its queerbaiting if the creator is just so terminally heterosexual that they never remotely considered the same gender relationship their show is centered around could be read as romantic. it is deeply painful however.

By definition you can't accidentally queerbait. Queerbaiting is specifically using a same sex pair from the show to market the show to queer audiences with no intention of ever following through on a romantic relationship.

There is officially licensed Destiel merch signed off on by Kripke. Teen Wolf had a commercial with the actors for Derek and Stiles draped over each other talking about being "on a ship." Both shows actively used scenes between them as marketing while actively mocking fans for wanting them together. Sherlock has multiple characters refer to Johnlock as a couple, including characters we're supposed to believe are never wrong about human behavior and pushed those scenes in marketing. Then they acted insulted when fans saw them as a couple.

That's queerbaiting.

Done on accident it would just be queer subtext. Done because they had no other choice due to censorship is queer coding.

The specific meaning of the word is really starting to get lost and it's a pretty important one to keep accurate. It describes a very specific phenomenon that was done repeatedly and maliciously for decades and is meant to examine that specifically.

Doing it on accident sucks, but it isn't a tactic of capitalism intentionally intended to suppress queer representation while making money from queer fans.

i have a foster kitten that just came down with FIP and he's getting GS-441524; i immediately thought of you and belphie. let's hope my little guy responds well! he is in good hands.

when I brought Belphie to the guy running the medical study for FIP, he said "thank god it's FIP", and I looked at him like he was crazy. but he said "all my patients with FIP live. I have the medicine for it. but if it's something else, that's what I have a harder time with."

and hours after getting his first dose, Belphie was purring and kneading. by the time we were back home, he was running around and playing with toys. the night before, he'd been dying.

it's very scary to have a sick kitten, but FIP is so treatable now. I hope your little foster is running about soon!
