I work? Used to work? for MIRA as a Head scientist, mostly in medical and biological science. I'm alone at this station, MIRA sometimes sends me... more experimental tasks for me to do, sometimes I get payed for them sometimes I don't. I've been going a little stir crazy being alone for so long that I decided to try and fix the mostly broken comms so I could connect to other beans, which I've finally done. Please, if you could send me a message or ask me something or literally anything, I'll be more then happy to answer unless I'm in the middle of a task...

Hm, thanks. Sucks that you’re alone too. Fun fact, fun fact, let’s see, uhh… oh, I’m about foot taller than your average bean? Proportionally stronger too, if that’s too simple of a fun fact. I’m furred as well. (Lucky to be, frankly, being stationed on Polus.)

As for what’s wrong… let me get a quick refresher. My specialty’s in baking and self-defense, not electronics. Can’t send pictures, for one it already takes ages to send text-only mails and for two the only camera in this room’s not working.

Looks mostly like the camera’s just not connecting, and something’s throttling the uplink, so I can’t get a message off-planet. It looks like a hardware issue…

Maybe something with the wires…? No, frequency maybe… ugh. I really don’t know.

Interesting...very interesting. You intrigue me... also good you have fur, would hate for you to go out in the snow and not make it back....

Anyway, guess I can run you through a basic maintenance check, hopefully the problem isn't too bad...

Camera not connecting shouldn't cause too big of problems besides not being able to send photos...so deal with that later, although it's wires are just probably not connected properly...

Would recommend rebooting the whole system, this will take a few minutes, sometimes an hour, but don't worry its usually only about...under 10 minutes? If that doesnt help, then it's probably a connection issue within the wires, and/or perhaps your station satellite is damaged so it cant properly connect....

Check those last two things out while the system is rebooting, oh and check whatever drawers you can find in the comms room, you might find a manual, which will probably help you significantly...

...its...been so long since I've...talked about electronics...putting that electrical engineering to use I guess...

Hey, so, sorry to bug ya, but when you get a moment, would you be so kind as to share some tips for repairing Comms? I’m at a tiny base - uh, Polus Base 44 to be exact - and the only other crew I was stationed with took our snowspeeder and dipped in the middle of the night. Since Comms are busted, I can’t contact anyone off-planet to get me the hell outta here… and my coworker was the mechanic around here. Any tips’d help, anything at all.

Workers came out of the building, getting Grey safely onto a stretcher to get inside and into the appropriate wing for Abalone to handle. Once situated, Abalone immediately got to work. They cut off any remaining clothing, placed a heated blanket around them, inserted IVs connected to a hemodialysis machine, and placed a mask for them to breath warmer air through.

Dammit- c'mon-

They were consistently checking vitals for the next few minutes. Eventually, things began looking more stable. They continued working, stabilizing what they could and checking for any signs of consciousness. After a few hours, signs began showing.

They had put greys hands in containers of warm water some time ago to ease the frostbite. They weren't going to ask for hand movement without knowing what the pain level might be.

Abalone checked one of Greys hands that was submerged in warm water, using their good hand to inspect it.

You had frostbite, too. Can you try to move your fingers for me? Just a little, if it hurts, don't continue.

They spoke calmly and concisely, leaving no room for uncertainty, but softly enough to not raise unnecessary alarm.

Maroon, you don't look well, and you're bleeding. I worry for the safety of you and Grey if you continue in this state or operate a ship again.

I know you just came here to get Grey care, but I strongly believe It's in Grey's best interest as well as yours if you allow me to run a checkup on you. Will you allow me to do that? You can say no. But, if you continue like this, I may see it best if someone else transports Grey once they're stable.

I know from personal experience that visor injuries can have detrimental consequences if not tended to properly quickly enough. You deserve good health as much as Grey or I do.

Everytime I feel like I've finally gotten my anxiety under control, it...it comes back worse...got a few visor repairs when I was younger just because of how easily stressed I can get...

I understand. I often have to deal with high-stress situations myself. I've been in my field long enough to develop the strategies I need to keep myself composed. I can always refer you to a therapist, or if it's especially dire, I can look into getting you prescribed something.

Now, if you're okay to, I'm going to sanitize your visor and apply some gel to it. Just make sure not to touch it before it hardens.

...used to be on meds when I was younger, then my parents convinced me I didnt need them. How wrong they were....

...I've definitely been neglecting myself since becoming Greys caretaker...been meaning to get back on meds and get a therapist.... but....worrying about others was just...easier then worrying about myself...

It took me a few years to adjust to my injuries as well. Though, I'm grateful to still be here. Our bodies are good at protecting us, even if some damage is permanent. You should absolutely look into getting back into whatever medication you took as well. As I mentioned before, neglecting yourself will only ensure you're eventually rendered incapable of doing your job.

They'd continue the checkup procedures, checking heart rate, breathing, blood pressure, and everything else. Eventually, once they were done, they brought their attention to his hands.

Actually, these are one of the only things I can talk about....

I was born with them, weird mutation in my genes, none of my family has any records of having claws or whatever these are classified as... I just, have them.

Others usually find them quiet interesting, probably cause they're not common to see, most usually want to feel them but they're a little sensitive so...I...um...dont usually let...
