Gray days always pair best with hot cocoa. (at Press Cafe)
Waiting for my apartment to be finished cleaning and found my new favorite place.
The winners of the ‘I’m moving to Ithaca and there’s only so many books I can fit into my suitcase!’ Games. I have one bag packed and one more to go!
Morning light on the books. It’s my last weekend at home and it still hasn’t sunk in that I’ll be off and elbows deep in a new life by next week. Although it would probably help if I got around to filling at least *one* of my suitcases today... ☺️
So Tremontaine Season Two was somehow just as thrilling and even more gay than season one, a feat I hadn’t really dared to hope for. The writing and characters are still as compelling as ever. I have no idea what took me so long to do this after falling in love with season one last year. But I do know that I’ll be shoving this story into as many hands as possible.
Birthday selfie while I take a break from figuring out my life story for student bio purposes. This is totally the face of someone who knows what they’re doing, right?
The gotta-read-all-the-books-on-my-shelf-before-Ithaca-athon continues with read no. 10. Persuasion by Jane Austen is tied for my favorite by her for a reason. The characters are so artfully rendered. The emotions are always rich and palpable beneath the veneer of society manners. And Anne Elliott is a unique, compelling heroine. One who has already had her foolhardy misjudgments and growing pains, whose journey is more grounded in forgiveness and trusting in her own wisdom. It’s a beautifully written book, one I enjoy more each time I revisit it.
A day late, but happy July, friends! I’ve got a draft to pursue, revisions to make, and ideas to chase. Plus final prep before moving to Ithaca, my birthday, and who knows what else. Now if you’ll excuse me I’ll be hiding from the heat in my bed. (at Cypress, Texas)
Merry Litha/Happy Summer Solstice to my fellow Northern Hemisphere Wiccans/Pagans on Tumblr! :D ))O((
Read no.7 was pure perfection. @seananmcguire strikes a balance between earnestness, criticism, whimsy, and observation. I would read a hundred more fairytales from her pen. Down Among the Sticks and Bones is everything it promised to be and even better than I had hoped. And if you aren’t reading the Wayward Children series yet, you should be.
proposed new holiday: valoween. combination valentines and halloween. take a monster on a date
Guillermo Del Toro we know that’s you
*swings into your room on a rainbow and throws confetti* happy pride month mother fucker
IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN
I would like to invite you all to embrace the ancestors you never knew.
As members of the queer community, we are in a unique space in that our marginalization is not always shared with our biological family. So we are often left with a feeling of separation to our community and our history, and I want to take a moment to encourage you all to try and bridge that gap within your minds. Think of the queer people who came before us as your family, because so many of them lived their lives so that yours could exist in the way it does.
Think of Oscar Wilde standing in court admitting his love and rejecting the idea that it was shameful in front of his peers. Think of Magnus Hirschfeld collecting data and research so that he could find a path to freedom paved with facts. Think of Marsha P. Johnson, giving out cookies to other sex workers and transgender people on the street and her rage as she threw that shot glass and ignited a revolution.
These people are your family, they are your history, and they built a world so that you could live in it. You may not be related by blood but you are related by history, their lives are irreversibly connected to ours and I encourage you all to take time to hold that in your minds as you move forward today.
Reblog if you say "Y'all"
i hope you always have enough money to pay your rent on time, to buy your favorite groceries, and to invest in your art.
I receive that blessing & send it to everyone that follows me

And so it is.
At least one of my trackers is looking good so far!
angiemahtinelli replied to your photo “Pairing down is hard. So much empty space and so many books still to...”
is that a willow pop?!?
It is! She was the first one I ever got, actually.
