abbecoulmier:
when morning came, abbe du coulmier had not seen willow. hours passed and yet she had not left the room to join the other patients as they ate nor as they painted. concern across his features. this was unlike her, this he knew, and he was also conscious that he had grown so accustomed to her company that without it he felt lost.
he knew the night before had been filled with temptation that he had managed to deny but had ended up sinning in other ways. other ways where he could relieve lust but it had not been as pleasurable as the thought of her laying atop of him, making his heart pound and his moans escape like uncaptured melodies. music for their ears only.
as he walked through the halls, he is reluctant somewhat to go to her chamber. if only out of fear of being seen too much with her. but he soon knocks upon her door, before slowly opening it and walking in - quietly closing the door behind him as though not to disturb her or anyone who might have possibly seen him enter. but no one had. they would all think he was in the cathedral praying. “ you did not come for breakfast ” the first words that he says to her and they are such soft words. so innocent and tender. concerned. pure. he had missed her in the hours they had been apart. “ do you plan on laying in bed all day? ”
she had remained in solitude, doing her best to enjoy the moments alone. it was just as she had been upon first arriving in the asylum. alone, withdrawn from the rest of the world. now she did so simply to maintain distance from the beloved abbè. embarrassment flooded through her at the mere thought of their exchange the previous night. she had spoken too much, prompted him to think of something as sinful as touching himself to the thought of her.
and then there was that part of her that only yearned to see him — to get to speak to him for even just seconds at a time. willow was luring him in, taking advantage of the kindness he could not help but regard everyone with. and he cared for her. she knew it so. he would come for her to ensure that she was well. at the sound of the rusted metal door opening, she could only feel her heart flutter in her chest.
the blonde sat at the edge of her bed now, tilting her head so that she could look towards him. “ i was not hungry, ” she explained softly, forcing a smile upon her lips. she shrugged her shoulders casually, trying to seem as though last night had not occured. “ would that be so bad? ” she raised a brow, trying her hand at the playfulness she always regarded him with. “ how did you sleep, abbé? ” she couldn’t help but wonder whether the words that fell from her lips were meant to tease him some more.
“ no, but it would mean that i would not be able to see you as i like to ” he tells her in gentle tones. always so kind and soft with her, the same gentle nature he regarded everyone with. but it meant something more when it came to willow. he was attracted to her which was the worst thing in the world. to be attracted to a woman he could not have and should not love.
but then her words about sleep. sleep. did she know? did he look any different to how he had before he had sinned? “ i...i slept well, willow. did you sleep well? ” he answers the question as he always would but there is hesitance to him now as though he suspects something that she also may. the fact he had compelled himself to half sin at the thought of her. and now, her being in bed, seemed all the more inappropriate as he stood there. keeping his distance.
he is fiddling with his robe, his palms smoothing down the front as he stands there, looking down at her as she remains settled there. his green eyes look towards her with that usual innocence. like a young man being caught in the devils gaze. she was a vixen after all, but he had also seen her as a woman. a woman he adored and found his heart racing for. he slowly saw the glint in her eyes, clearing his throat as he tried to force a laugh, “ are you...are you teasing me?”
