What an odd thing to say...
I'm just putting this up there because... what? John suddenly "warmed up" to Paul in 1967 when he saw him with Martha??? What?

Iâll always love the Beatles. Not just for their music, and the joy and love they transmitted, encouraged, and heralded, but also, as individuals I had the good fortune to meet and like and enjoy. Thank you John, Paul, George and Ringo. -Paul Saltzman

George Harrisonâs first car was a blue 1959 Ford Anglia; here he is with John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and that car in Liverpool, sometime in 1962, as photographed by Mike McCartney. Photo © Mike McCartney.
âGeorge with the first car owned by any of the Beatles. A Ford Anglia, not very classy but it was all he could afford.â - Mike McCartney, Remember (1992)
Ringo Starr: âI took you to get that car.â George Harrison: âDid you?â RS: âYeah, I took you to Warrington, and as we were coming home â you may not remember â you were speeding and I was speeding, and we were both close to each other, and then you overtook this car in front, and I got right up to this car and just as I got right up his ass, a dog ran out in front of him, so he slammed on his brakes, I smashed right into him, broke the fuck out of my car. It was lucky it was by a garage, so I drove it, pushed it, into the garage, because I had no license or insurance.â - The Beatles Anthology special features
This car was also the subject of a fan requestâŠ
Once, [Georgeâs mother] Louise let me sit in the front of Georgeâs Ford Anglia. I asked if I could wash the car. âAre you soft?â she shrieked. âWell, I suppose so, if you really want to. You can come back on Sunday and do it.â During that week I had a letter from George [sent from Hamburg]. I tore it open to find heâd written tongue-in-cheek instructions on how to wash his car.â - Sue Houghton, Yeah!, November 1995
An excerpt from Georgeâs letter:
âThank you for giving my mum flowers and chocs. [It was you wasnât it??] Thanks also for the card, in fact THANKS A HEAP SUSAN. [âŠ] 7/. Now proceed to [Paul McCartneyâs house, at] 20 Forthlin RD. with about 6 buckets full of dirty muddy greasey water, where a shiney Ford Classic will be seen. Spread contents of the buckets evenly, so as to leave a nice film of muck over the car. You can now return home knowing you have done your deed for the day. Thank you!!!âŠâ (x)
August 6, 1966: Brian Epstein is interviewed by NBC News regarding the public backlash faced by the Beatles in the US, following John Lennonâs remark that the group had become âmore popular than Jesusâ. At the close of the interview the reporter jokes that Queen Elizabeth II (who awarded the Beatles MBEs the previous year) could help smooth the furore. [x]
