Chapter Four of my Benophie Modern AU, You’ve Bewitched Me, has been uploaded to A03! Read it Here.
It’s a forbidden workplace romance and def a slow burn, but I hope it will be worth it. The fic takes place at the Bridgerton’s law firm where Sophie is Anthony’s assistant and Benedict is returning to the firm after a year long sabbatical to pursue an art career.
Thank you to everyone who has read it and followed me here. It means the world to me <3
I’m working on a Benophie one shot and I’m feeling inspired by the interview where Yerin says she wants a dog and Luke says they can get one.
The question is what should the dog be named? I think Sophie insists on having naming privileges (she’s not letting him name the dog “Our Dog”) but idk what she would think is a good dog name. Also can’t decide if it’s a boy or a girl dog, but right now I’m using he/him pronouns for the dog.
Today is my birthday and lowkey the only birthday gift I want is to be able to finish the next chapter of “You’ve Bewitched Me.” I’m trying to convince myself I don’t have writers block lol.
I also already have a Benophie one shot I’m working on but… now I want to write a one shot about Sophie celebrating her first birthday married to Benedict. I just know that he goes all out for her and invites his entire family to Our Cottage because she probably hasn’t had a real birthday in years.
To everyone saying that Dr Langdon on “The Pitt” was possessed by Anthony Bridgerton for a sec there last episode, you are absolutely right. I have no notes.
A modern Benophie headcanon of mine is their favorite date night activity is simply a movie night.
Benedict does occasionally like spoiling Sophie and doing some more “grand” date nights like fancy restaurants or trips to places Sophie has never been before. But at the end of the day, I think they both like sitting on the couch together as they share a blanket and watch a romcom together. It feels like the world is slowing down for a bit and they could enjoy each other’s company without worrying about anything else. They laugh together, cry together, make fun of the bad movies — it’s nice just being in their little movie cocoon together.
Sophie usually is the one to pick the movie partially because Benedict is easy going and will joy almost anything, but also he spends most of the time watching her instead of the movie.
I’m feeling the urge to write a Benophie one shot (I’m still writing my modern au, don’t you worry) and I’m stuck between a couple of choices.
I’ll prob write some version of all of them eventually, but I want to see which people would want to read first (also I want an excuse to use the poll feature for the first time lol).
Which Benophie one shot should I write first?
Engaged Benophie sneaking around
Violet II Birth and/or the Bridgertons meeting her for the first time
Sophie and Anthony actually interacting (and Anthony accepting Benophie)
“Engaged Benophie sneaking around” has won! Lowkey shocked over 100 people voted. That’s just crazy to me. Thank you all, and I promise I’ll get to the other two prompts eventually.
Perhaps I’m being overly ambitious but I want to see if I can get a new chapter of “You’ve Bewitched Me” and this one shot done by this weekend. But also I think this prompt requires a longer word count (is 10k too crazy??)

Benedict and Sophie's children are going to ask their parents if Papa embellished the story of the masquerade ball to fit with the fairytale and are gonna be skeptical of him until Sophie is like "yeah that's what happened, only I didn't leave my slipper, he kept my glove!"
Violet Bridgerton II gets very distressed over the idea that her parents’ love story could possibly be embellished. Or worse, a complete lie.
When she first hears about the Cinderella story from a friend who has a fairytale book, it doesn’t take her long to realize why the story sounds familiar to her. The ball, the mysterious woman running away at midnight, the clothing item left behind—this is her parents’ story. This poor little girl just starts panicking over the idea that her parents love story, the most beautiful story she’s ever been told, could be a complete lie, stolen from a book.
Violet immediately confronts her parents about this. She needs answers.
“Vivi, I promise you it’s true!” Benedict holds Violet in his arms as she cries. He never imagined that this would upset her so much. He thought she enjoyed the fact that her parents are basically a real life fairytale! “I was there, my darling, I lived it. I can confirm it happened.”
Benedict’s reassurance only seemed to make things worse. “But it’s the exact same!” Violet insisted.
Sophie just smiles, brushing a hand through her daughter’s hair. “It’s not the same.”
“It is.” Violet sniffles.
Sophie shakes her head. “It’s similar, but… I didn’t leave a glass slipper behind. Your father kept my glove.”
“You ran off before I could give it back!” Benedict argued. “Besides, I needed a way to find you again.”
“It was my necklace that made you realize who I was,” Sophie said. “The glove was just token you kept hidden in your jacket.”
“But when papa found the missing glove in your drawer, that’s how he certain that you were the Lady in Silver,” Violet said, reciting the story she had heard so many times before. Slowly, she seemed to calm down. Maybe her parents weren’t lying after all.
“That’s right, my sweet girl.” Sophie hugged her daughter tightly, wiping the tears from her eyes. “Every bit of it happened the way we always told you.” Sophie looked up at her husband. “I’m not sure I could have imagined a more perfect story for myself.”
“Our love story is far better than the original, in my humble opinion,” Benedict added, which made Violet laugh.
Currently debating whether I need to change the rating for my Benophie modern AU from “mature” to “explicit” on ao3…
I’m not at that point in the story yet (the slow burn is burning) and tbh I’ve never really written smut, but the more I think about it, Benedict and Sophie are certified freaks and I’m not sure I can hold them back.
Benedict and Sophie’s children are going to be super confused one day when they hear someone talking about the Cinderella fairy tale. They’re going to be like “now wait a damn minute.”
Their parents love story is absolutely Benophie children’s favorite bed time story, especially when their parents tell it together. I think Benedict especially gets very into story time, and Sophie will shake her head at him when he goes on and on about how she was the most beautiful woman he has ever seen, but the soft smile on her face gives away her true feelings.
I feel like most of Benophie’s children will have very dramatic love stories while one of them meets someone at a ball, falls in love, and is engaged within a month with very little fuss.
Oh absolutely. Bridgertons are known for their dramatic love stories and, as Eloise says in the books, Benophie's love story is legendary in their family. Benophie's children are basically destined to have the most dramatic love stories of all time.
I think Violet II probably has the most dramatic love story. Like her namesake, she too loves a good love story and expects nothing less than what her parents got. While, for obvious reasons, I think Benophie would be supportive of their children marrying someone of any rank (or even any gender), I like the idea of Violet II marrying up and even finding someone that's a Lord of some kind. Perhaps, he was supposed to have an arranged marriage with a Lady of higher ranking, but chose Violet II instead (elopement, maybe?)
Sophie, despite the fact that she knows they've been accepted by society, always worries that her true identity will be revealed and ruin her children's chances for joining society. But she has nothing to worry about because they all end up finding love, even if they caused her plenty of stress and grey hairs.
I imagine Alexander as the middle son probably has the most straightforward love story. His parents are lowkey shocked over how normal his engagement is.
This is a devastating day for those of us who thought Eloise would be the season five lead.
Let me be clear, this isn’t hate for Francesca and Michaela. I do like them and will watch/enjoy their season. But it’s just getting frustrating how Eloise has the same storyline every season of hating the marriage mart and I can’t imagine that Claudia Jessie (who has been on the show since day one) and Chris Fulton (where are you my dude?) are feeling great about their season being pushed off. I know To Sir Philip, With Love is not a very popular book among fans, but I still think it has a lot of potential purely because Eloise is a fan favorite.
Also, because I’m a Benophie fan, I was really excited to see more Eloise and Benedict moments this season, but with him married and Sophie also there to give advice.
Overall, I do think the show is going to have to work extra hard to prove to me that this was the right decision because frankly I think it would have made more sense to keep it as Eloise and have Francesca spend season five slowly coming out of mourning. It does also feel like it is too soon for Fran to get into a new relationship after John TBH. The last time they changed the order of the books with season three just didn’t work for me and I would argue it is the worst season partially because of the fact that the order was changed.
Benedict and Sophie are definitely going to create some hella dramatic and expressive children.
They mostly get it from their father, and Sophie loves to remind Benedict of that (but Benedict argues that they get it equally as much from her). Benedict also gives in easily when their kids are in trouble, especially when their little girl, Violet II, pouts her lips.
My Benophie headcanon of the day is that Benedict decides that one of his first duties as a husband is to teach Sophie how to “leisure.”
I think even as a maid Sophie has some hobbies as we know she’s extremely well read and does needlepoint (which she would have to do to mend things like dresses as a ladies maid), but she’s not used to having essentially an endless amount of time for herself. She can’t remember the last time she had hours that she could just spend reading and there’s plenty of activities she’s never even tried.
Ultimately, I think Sophie simply prefers doing anything that involves being outside, whether she is reading or having a picnic or playing with their future children or simply going for a walk. It takes a while for her to fully relax, to understand that she no longer needs to spend her days working herself to death. Benedict reminds her that there is nothing wrong with taking time for herself, and that she deserves it.
She can simply enjoy the moment—and most of those moments are spent with her doting husband.
I finally got around to updating my Sophie and Benedict Modern AU! It takes place at the Bridgerton’s law firm and Sophie is Anthony’s assistant, while Benedict is a lawyer returning to the firm after a year long sabbatical. 💕
Remember in season three when Benedict suggested to John that he should throw rocks at Francesca’s window as a grand love gesture to prove that he could be bold?
Now, John might have never taken that advice, but Benedict would absolutely throw rocks at Sophie’s window—especially during their engagement.
Violet insisted that Benedict must move back into his bachelor apartment while Sophie stayed at Bridgerton house. Benedict argued that this was absurd and highly unnecessary, but Violet knows better than to trust Benedict when he says he would never sneak into Sophie’s room.
One night, he simply has had enough of this separation and could not bear to wait till the morning to see his beloved Sophie again.
It was a simple enough plan. He knew exactly which window was Sophie’s. All he had to do was collect some rocks and gently throw them. And hope he wouldn’t accidentally wake up any of his siblings.
Or worse, his mother.
Luckily, his rock throwing seemed to have only woken up Sophie from a peaceful slumber.
“Benedict!” Sophie whisper yelled as she eventually opened up the window. “What on Earth do you think you’re doing?”
“A grand love gesture, of course.” He smiled, rocks in hand.
It was smile he always gave Sophie when he was up to mischief. She could already imagine their children one day having that same smile as they run around My Cottage causing chaos.
Benedict climbed up the trellis along the house. It had been years since the last time he had done this, but sneaking out with Anthony or Colin when they were younger conveniently prepared him for this.
“You know, there are far more convenient ways you could have snuck in,” Sophie said, closing the window behind him.
“Sure, but where’s the fun in that?” He shrugged. "Besides, I had to commit to the spectacle. I told you I would do anything for you, and I guess that includes sneaking into your room in the middle of the night just to see you."
Sophie shook her head, but wrapped her arms around his neck. “You're impossible.”
Benedict’s hands settled at her waist, drawing her closer. “And yet,” he said softly, brushing a stray curl from her cheek, “you agreed to marry me anyway.”
"I did," she whispered before bringing his lips to hers. It was gentle and unhurried, as though they had all the time in the world.
Sophie pulled away. “If you wake your mother, I will make sure you regret it."
Benedict’s laughed. “My love, if my mother discovers me here, I assure you I will already regret it.”
Something I enjoyed so much about season four was how much Benedict and Sophie clearly enjoy being in each other’s company. The way they just match each other’s energy and are constantly smiling when they are together shows how well suited they are for each other.
Their relationship isn’t just a passing flirtation or only sexual tension (which they got that too for sure), but they like being around each other and that makes it believable that they are meant to spend the rest of their lives together.
