Every day, men and women splash semi opaque fluids, barely symmetrical dark lines and give what some call 'life' to the deadened cutaneous tissue that is our lips. Why? To face the world, one must first 'put on their face'- their masque if you will. A masque, carefully and oh so elegantly crafted to set the 'foundations' (see what I did there) of security in our appearance. We once wore war paint to instil fear.. And we still do. The medium and effects of fear and insecurity may change, but it's fundamental meaning remains. Funny isn't it.
