Ever since they met, she had been dreaming of that title. The kiss caused her to relax in his arms. Abigail found herself missing him the minute he left for work. Some of the housewives she befriended in the city told her that it was not unusual- but it felt so strange to miss someone. Rapture eradicated her of any homesickness with its beauty.
A small smirk graced her plump lips as he moved away.
"Just home and you’re already getting friendly." More giggles left her lips as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"I am but a man."
Rodney gave a playful purr against her mouth, just before stealing a second, far briefer kiss. The embrace lingered a while after that before he reluctantly let it drop, moving then to stroll into the den. A shallow wave beckoned her to join him as he made for the couch, confidently navigating his own way in their now familiar home. A content soon sigh followed as he dropped heavily into a comfortable seat, letting the last of the day’s stress melt away from his posture.
"How was your day, love?"
He extended his hand for hers. When their fingers intertwined, the analyst gave a gentle pull of her arm to invite her to sit. As always, she had a choice between the sofa and his lap.
"Did you have your meeting with the editor?"
Oh, the editor.
Abigail held her own hands once Rodney parted from her. She dreamed of writing. Before domestic bliss, the woman dreamed of her own, individual life as a travelling writer. Meeting her husband changed everything. Before him, she would live off what amount her parents gave her and the articles she wrote for local papers. It was barely a job, but she made it work. And she was so happy to do it.
The slender but calloused hand slipped into his before she sat by his side. There was a small smile on her face as she looked into his pale blue eyes. Sometimes she wished he could see. But that was such a selfish thought.
"Yes, I did." Her voice became small. "He told me to pick another, more interesting subject."
She was used to rejection, but she supposed the spirit that anything was possible in Rapture had gotten to her.
