Are you satisfied where you are now?
I'm here ... guess you could say I'm satisfied about that.
Do you give yourself strict deadlines to achieve your goals?
Proper goals need to have set deadlines otherwise what's the point in setting them? Personal deadlines equal accountability.
Do you have a new years aspiration you've made since you were a kid?
I don't make promises I can't keep - even if they are to myself.
I don't think I have OCD but this is unacceptable
My ugly ugly rainbow. What have I done to you…
You have a good point though…maybe there is still hope. I’ve still got strawberry. Do you think the sale’s still on? It started last Wednesday.
I don't know but I'm sure I don't care. What's with the jello obsession anyways? You could just buy a bunch of those little containers that are already made and it would be the same thing.
I don't think I have OCD but this is unacceptable
I tried to make a jello rainbow today…. The cherry and raspberry boxes are two different colors but the dye’s actually the same…so now my rainbow has a fatass stripe of red….
Or you could just say you made a rainbow that only contains different shades of red. The upside is you still get the jello.
Drabble - Holidays
The mountains in Northeast Afghanistan were anything but forgiving. Beyond being remote, they were devoid of any tactical advantages for either side. Wide open spaces that provided no cover ensured that there would be losses on either side should tactical mistakes be made. Luckily for those under her command, she wasn't in the business of making mistakes.
Having decided that the cover of night was the best time to run the op, she had gathered the team a mile from the starting point. Two and a half miles later they were in position on the ridge of a mountain range. Five unit members had circled the house in anticipation of her command to strike but the radio remained silent. The only noise on that ridge was the soft smacking of her lips as she chewed a toothpick to death.
Left eye was pressed firmly to the scope of the rifle as she slowly moved it back and forth between the windows of the small building. A photo of the target sat on the rock next to where the legs of the rifle were seated. If the target was there, he was as good as dead but if the fuss could minimal - all the better. Glancing down to the photo then back up at the scope, her right thumb pressed down firmly on the button in her hand.
"All units, this is Foxtrot ... target confirmed for the Westernmost room. Smoke the front entry then move in, two enemy guards on post near the front door. Proceed when I send the package."
The communication button was released as she moved her hand back to the rifle. Angling the cross hairs over the targets forehead, her finger squeezed the trigger. The muzzle flash was minimal and a moment later she saw the man fall to the floor. Before his guards could even make to his side they were lost in smoke before being promptly dispatched. Collecting the rifle and the photo, she was soon on her way to the building.
A casual pace carried her down the side of the ridge and across the dirt road to the structure. Taking the time to enjoy the cool night air, she reached into one of her pockets before producing a cigar which was promptly lighted and held to her lips. Smoking wasn't a habit she intended to keep but it helped calm the nerves and that was good enough. By the time she reached the front entryway, she could smell the blood before she saw it splattered on the wall.
Her unit was well trained so most of the cleanup had already begun, a positive ID confirmed that the night was a success. Waiting near the front door, she finished the remainder of the cigar before lining up several more on the half wall bordering the property. Placing her lighter atop the cigars, she took one last look into the structure before walking towards the road, curious to see if their transport was visible yet. Eyes remained settled on the same ridge she had just been perched on as she heard the soft whir of a helicopter in the distance.
"Evac is inbound, move your asses out here and smoke these before they get here. Oh and by the way - Merry Christmas, assholes."
And I thought Christmas was busy, around here…
Christmas is just the prelude to New Years anyways. You know, the time of the year where we get to see people make promises to themselves that they won't keep.
"You’re right; not far at all. If anything, at least this brings on a little bit of nostalgia—it’s been a while since I’ve been out of Vegas long enough to experience something other than the dry heat."
So how do you end up in Vegas all the way from Massachusetts? I'm guessing you were either running from or to something. Gonna be real disappointed if it just ends up being for a job or something.
"Yeah, I guess it’s not exactly what you’d expect when you picture being in the middle of the desert. Home’s a very different place—Massachusetts. I take it you’re not from around here either?"
Not too far from you, New York City. Moved around quite a bit but its home. Exactly, I thought this was supposed to be hot and full of dry heat.
"Cold? This isn’t cold. This is still shorts weather back home."
Oh I've been through colder, just didn't expect it here. Where's home?
Didn't think it ever got this cold here.
Hey, Neighbor || Donal, Abi
"Neighbor, yup! Own the auto body down the way but we can bullshit about business later. Not in my weekend clothes for nothin’."
Donal had stopped to take in the scent of sawdust once it became one of the stronger in the area and it soothed him considerably; he was in no rush to end this particular interaction. Curiosity pushing him to smile genuinely at Abigail, Donal wiped his hand on his jeans and moved towards her with it extended as was good business practice though for his particular tastes the smell of polish was a bit overwhelming now that he was closer.
"Donal Tuttle. Hey now!"
It didn’t take long for the Druid to notice the custom part, which was beautiful even from where he stood and though he knew better than to physically intrude on another’s workshop it was the perfect segway into some of his business there. The werewolf hefted the bottle of Jack up in an encouraging little pump, smirking mischievously at the human.
"Whole damn bottle’s yours, you can make a gorgeous piece like that. You do a lot of that custom stuff?" He took a step closer, lazily holding the bottle out with its neck facing her so she could take it if she really wanted that drink. "Like…buy-back stuff?”
Extending her hand to firmly clasp his, she gave it a solid shake before letting go and gesturing to the small shop behind her. The garage housed any number of bench mounted tools that were used for firearm production. The wall itself held a pegboard with various hand tools hanging from it, leaving no doubt as to what was done in that room. A side glance was given to the piece of wood sitting in its cradle before she gave it a flick to remove a stray piece of sawdust from its surface.
"Donal. Always a pleasure to meet a booze bearing neighbor. I'm Abigail and consider my door always open if you're bringing drinks."
Without asking, she turned away to pull open a cabinet drawer and produce two coffee cups one of which had to have sawdust dumped from it before she set it down. Twisting the top off of the bottle, equal amounts were poured into each cup before taking one into her hand and pushing the other towards him. Nothing beat a stiff drink and over the years she'd put away more than she cared to admit so this was nothing more than a good start. After lifting the cup to her lips and emptying it in one swig she soon set it upon the bench and nodded in response to his question.
"Custom work is all the rage right now. Problem is most people want it to look pretty and have no function. It'd be a cold day in hell before I'd put my name to anything that didn't work and look perfect. Buy-back? I run a full service operation here, Mister Tuttle. We offer the traditional stock firearms all the way up to ... specialized orders."
For all she knew, he was trying to see what exactly she could provide. This was her business and while she had to be wary of the attempted police operation to shut her down something told her the man standing before her was no cop. It wasn't time to clue him in on just how much she could actually provide to him weapon wise but there was no harm in leaving the door open for his mind to wander upon it. Using a thumb to point at the bench behind her, she motioned for him to take a look.
"Got a fully custom order going on back here - the guy hunts buck up North and wants something that looks good for his trophy shot pictures. Total tool but he's paying out the nose for it so I'm making him a gem. Being honest with you? I'd rather be doing semi to fully automatic customizations and taking in vintage weapons but this will get me started. I can only imagine the auto body business is equally enthralling?"
Is there a place that makes you happy? What is it?
Did you have a possession of some sort as a child that relaxed you?
It's cliche but I had a teddy bear that I didn't let go of for a long time. I guess I had a yearning for constants in my life.
Do you have 'angry music' for shitty days?
I may or may not have a playlist for those days ...Tool - AenemaSocial Distortion - Pleasure SeekerAlice In Chains - WouldDavid Bowie - Look Back In AngerAC DC - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt CheapThe Breeders - CannonballBad Religion - Struck A Nerve
What's your comfort food?
"Without a doubt - macaroni and cheese. My mom used to make it with a few different kinds of cheeses. It was cheap, got you full and always reminded me that I was home. Just having it now reminds me of sitting around the table with my parents and how much I miss them."
