After a brief survey to name it, the newest addition to the multiple dining establishments on campus will open in October.
“The Real Food on Campus restaurant will be open on Monday, October 1st, “said Amber Arguijo, Marketing Manager for the UH Dining Services.
The new hall was named through a survey from August 27th, to August 31st, a 5 day period in which 300 members of the faculty, staff, and student-body participated. The survey was held online via Facebook, and for those without, SurveyMonkey, an online survey, and questionnaire tool.
“The survey was advertised through a campus news release, and posted on UHDS’ Facebook and Twitter,” said Arguijo, “advertisement was done on the official Facebook page and Twitter pages of the University. It was also shared on various campus pages.”
Participants submitted more than 300 name ideas that were admitted during the previous academic school year, to a Facebook page devoted to taking ideas.
“We had approximately 300 name ideas submitted during that time. After the submissions were closed a panel of University administrators narrowed the list down,” said Aruijo.
After all names had been submitted, the administrators cut a majority of the ideas, to just three finalists: Cougar Woods, West End, and The Roar. After the voting period in August, Cougar Woods was chosen, with 49 percent of the votes. Some students took to the name quickly.
“I think it’s a pretty cool name. It’s got a ring to it,” said Matt Singletary, Junior in Music Education, “it’s got a ring to it, ‘see you at The Woods!” The name was not as warmly received by all students, but neither did all students care to input names.
“Sounds a little weird, but it is fine as long as they serve good food,” said Cassie Castro, Junior in Music Education. Castro neither voted nor submitted a name in the survey.
The Cougar Woods Dining Hall will open at 7 a.m. October 1st, and the accompanying Cougar Xpress Mini Market will open at 7 a.m. that same day.

Ever since Donnie Darko, I have followed Jake Gyllenhaal’s works with a keen eye. Whether he’s an enthusiastic pharmaceutical salesman in Love and Other Drugs, or a troubled soldier in Jarhead, I felt his presence on screen enveloped all those he worked with. But in End of Watch I feel Gyllenhaal has finally met someone with the acting finesse and emotional range to match his own, scene for scene.
Playing police officer Bryan Taylor, Gyllenhall is paired with Michael Pena’s character Mike Zavala, two cops bringing their own brand of justice to the streets. The film follows the characters comical antics as they are pulled further into the drug scene of southern LA, covering every aspect of their lives. In what I feel is his first major role, Pena successfully carries his half of what is meant to be camaraderie only two best friends could share. The charisma this pair shares is undeniable; bringing laughs as they chatter about their lives between what is an increasingly dark series of crimes. Anna Kendricks again plays the part of a bubbly yet easily likeable love interest, hugging her roots from other films, but accenting the fact that these men are in a life-changing job that has rippling effects across the board. Opposite Pena, is Natalie Martinez, a minor actor selling a major performance, as the endearing wife. America Ferrera also steps out of her Ugly Betty shoes to act the part of street-smart cop who came from a gang background. Amongst various actors, one feels that the LAPD is truly a brotherhood.
It is clear from the beginning that the film will choose to take a cinematographic angle similar to that of the Paranormal Activity series, a shaky quick camera written off as being held by various characters in the film. In this case, Gyllenhall’s character, who besides being a cop, is a pre-law student enrolled in film courses. This type of filming creates an incredibly realistic feel for the majority of the film, jumping between down-the-barrel views, and the cameras pinned to various characters’ chest. It allows the viewer to get the nit-and-grit of the grapples, but jumps to more traditional filming at times, to permit a view not always accessible with this style of filming. I felt this hybrid was the safest bet, preventing the queasy feeling some may get from that much movement in the camera, but allowing a third person view when necessary.
Written and Directed by David Ayer, formerly of films such as Training Day and The Fast and The Furious, his experience with the cop-vs-robbers genre shines through. The police jargon is believable, the criminals rightfully notorious, and the dialogue between Pena and Gyllenhall is all things you would anticipate best friends to say to one another. Ayer’s background in this genre helped the film deliver on every emotional point, but it is apparent by the end that his sympathies lie with those police officers that sacrifice the most, for the most meager of reward.

I know you're tortured with this
Your eyes look hungry again
I'll never wonder, my friend
And who says I need you?

From Reddit:
"Stopped talking to my best friend (female), because her and my crush didn't have a good past. The girl ended up going for one of my friends instead, and my best friend had her arms open to receive me back after I was such a dumbass. I love my friends."
"Regardless, I'm confident as long as I'm breathing within a mile radius Zach will be satisfied,"
I honestly think I am going to be sick. I am literally retching outside the Y, dry-heave a-gogo. How did I become enchanted, so betwixt, so DELUSIONAL, with some so cold, and so inconsiderate, and so apparently vile. Fuck that noise. That was awful, and you should feel awful.
