Princess Nanyang, personal name unknown, sister to Sima Shi, Sima Zhao and Sima Gan; daughter of Zhang Chunhua. Not much is known about the dark-haired woman of the family of scholars, save the knowledge that she is much more like her mother than many give her credit for. Music may be one of her many passions, but she'll take part in any discussion of strategy or warfare as if she were 'one of the boys'. Independent Pseudo-OC Rp Sideblog. "It is still much too cold for my tastes, but at least it will warm up soon. I can expecting the birds to sing in the trees outside of my windows once more." Lady Sima shifted her weight to the side, turning her attention away.
Guo Huai had initially been surprised that the only girl of the Sima clan had shown up at such an hour. She was a young woman of such elegance and though isolated herself, still carried herself with a grace that he could almost compare to that of the rose to which she was currently tending. Alone, but yet beauty is wasted if it were not to be looked upon.
"I think that I shall be worried about you, forgetting to feed yourself is unhealthy my Lady, lest you wish to end up a coughing corpse such as I" He lectured though it was out of good will.
Hesitantly, he unfastened his cloak and held it out to her, becoming nervous. “Y- you may borrow it if you wish, I do not want you to become sickly, please come inside my Lady” He requested quietly, eyes averting as he hoped that she would not be offended by such a gesutre.
Bony fingers plucked the many sprigs of unwanted grass away from the stems and stalks of such beautiful flowers. She often did this when helping with her mother's garden. Without the servant there to do it, someone had to, no?
Her eyes moved to the fabric being held out to her, listening to the lecture she'd heard many times before from others. But she would most likely continue on with her forgetfulness. Xiaowei could almost not prevent the smile from pushing onto her face, though it did still show in her eyes.
"You are hardly a corpse, my Lord." Lady Nanyang stood from her place in the snow, the bottom of the cerulean hanfu she wore wetted with speckles of white here and there. She took the cloak from him and wrapped the heavy material around her shoulders, "The dead are hardly as good of company." When he gestured toward the inside of the structure nearest them, however, her head began to tilt to one side. While gathering water was important, she could always take a small detour for social purposes... she rarely ever got the chance, after-all. "I would never refuse an offer. If you would Lead, however?"
"You are right, but I cannot reach if I were to bend my back, that would cause my spine more harm than it would my knees" He smiled at her, happy that she was concerned about him, it was always nice to have someone who cares for him even if it is just out of sympathy due to his constant ailments.
At such a question, his eyes glittered with a passionate glow as he gazed down upon the soft white petals. “No one wants to be out here in the winter cold, but I do not think it is fair for such beautiful flowers to blossom alone… Loneliness is only cured by the feelings of one’s own, they can be amongst many alike to them and yet feel so neglected and different” Guo Huai explained, though as she had requested, he did stand, dusting off his clothing.
"I thank you for your kindness my Lady, you are indeed to kind to a plagued man, would I repay such kindness with some home made dishes?" He offered. The tactician was in an extremely good mood, he was not stressed, nor anxious as he normally was and most of all it seemed that his coughing had long subsided.
The young woman listened to him speak for a while, pleased that he'd finally stood up out of the frigid snow, "I understand that rather well." It was never easy being the only girl among her brothers, but being the only one whom saw no reason to strike against their current government was something that truly bothered her. It had been no secret that she and her oldest brother's first wife had been something of friends. Her untimely illness had definitely stricken Xiaowei in the worst of ways.
The young woman reached out to settle herself on the ground to resume the weeding he'd been doing. It would at least make the area look so much prettier. "That would be lovely, actually. You're very kind to ask. I'm afraid I'd forgotten to feed myself before leaving the house for the day." Though she still didn't know why she'd actually left the house. She was certain someone would need to eat or have something cleaned or... well, anything, really. Not to mention that she would need to pick up the usual delivered water. She could only imagine what her youngest brother would need.
The strategist’s golden gaze was fixated upon her, noting the frown that had formed upon her face. It was not a hideous expression, but it gave such a reaction when seen since he disliked to see his daughter look troubled or sad regardless of his indifferent attitude.
"…" Sima Yi remained quiet, watching her intently as though he was attempting to defer what it was that had lead her to become so distant from him, but no words left his mouth.
Calmly, though not entirely in a demanding tone, he responded. “You do not wish for a reply, leave it be and tell me… What is that ails you child?” He asked, setting the cup down with an authorative thud.
She held his gaze for quite some time, the glare settled within them not one of hostility, but of scrutiny. She watched how he moved, gathering information from both his posture and tone of voice. It was always strange to have these sorts of conversations with him, especially given that she rarely spoke to either of her parents nowadays if it wasn't specifically required.
"I would not have asked if I did not wish to know." She replied, lowering her own glass to tap against the redwood of the dining table. "Nothing ails me from the norm. However, if you need to blame it on something, blame it on the early hour."
"Which isn’t a good idea, my lady?" He asked, feigning innocence. Coming north more often was certainly a bad idea, unless he wanted to put himself in an early grave. And he had been joking about taking the lady with him… or he thought he had been. If he considered it further, was there a reason why he shouldn’t attempt to forge some sort of bond?
Emerald hues darkened at her second comment, was that a threat, or a warning? Considering the question that followed, the intention seemed friendly enough, although one could never be too careful. “I should be happy to taste your cooking as well, Lady Sima, but only if it doesn’t intrude. Your attention is truly more than enough, there is no need to trouble yourself.”
The atmosphere was becoming oppressive, perhaps coming here without a response had been foolish… “Your father has certainly been out a long while, the rest of your family as well, it would seem. Would you advise I leave and return on another day?” He was loath to leave the young woman in such a dreary estate, but as she seemed a little sympathetic to him it might be best to make an exit while he still could. Then again, if he left now all of that trouble would be for nothing.
"I would hate to leave you alone here, but I trust in your judgement."
"He has been out quite a while, yes." Though it wasn't particularly uncommon for her to be at home for long hours. She would at least have the company of others in the meantime; such as one of her brothers. But not today.
A melancholy hollowness entered her breast, dancing about like snow on an early, Winter's day. Her eyes were darkened, as if blocking out the light that pushed against them and slid to avoid the emperor's own. "If you wish to leave, I will not advise against it. It may be fort he best that you retreat and try your best not to think back on returning."
It was dangerous for a man of his status to be simply roaming around the Northern cities. It was even more dangerous for him to wander into the home of Wei's master strategist. How careless he had been, yet Xiaowei had still taken pity upon him. Perhaps this was one of the many traits her family still detested of her character. Perhaps not.
If one were to enter the gardens of the Jin Palace in the early and dark hours of a winter morning, they would hear a soft singing amongst the valley of Christmas roses that had begun to grow anew, in resistance to the cold winter snow that fell upon the Earth, like icing sugar being sieved high above in the clouds.
The tactician was kneeling down in the blanket of snow, pale fingers gently tugging at weeds that had grown around the roots of the blossoming plant, a soft almost content shimmer glowing in his charcoal dark eyes. Hearing the approach of footsteps, his song faded as he turned around with a smile to greet his visitor, breath smoking into misty puffs in the cold air as he spoke.
"Should you really be kneeling, though? The cold will harm your bones, My Lord. I doubt it is good for your health." The Lady Sima stepped forward however, and bent to let her fingers touch a few of the snowy petals, "I shan't deny that they are wondrous, however. Is this something you do in your past-time? Tending flowers, Lord Guo?"
Xiaowei's pale featured turned to the sky, pallid skin accenting the already brisk, Winter day. While she much preferred to be out at night when she could remain undetected by those around, she couldn't help herself in approaching one who she would consider her father's friend.
"Please, stand. Let me help you with this. I'd hate for you to conjure more problems for yourself."
His eyelids lifted as the final notes echoed into silence, the same smile still sitting easily upon his lips. “Please do not apologize, Lady Sima. It’s clear that you certainly have talent, although I am curious to hear how you play when you are relaxed.”
Resting his cheek in his palm, the emperor wondered why the house was so empty. Not a single servant had come this way, nor had he seen any as he approached. The young lady had even greeted him at the door, which was beyond peculiar considering he hadn’t been expected.
The simple smile expanded into a grin as he laughed, “Perhaps I should make a habit of these impromptu visitations northward… or maybe I should just take you back with me?”
"...I don't think that's such a good idea, my Lord." Nanyang replied in a hushed tone, jaw tensing and eventually becoming stone. No... having him in their home was already dangerous. What if her mother was feeling particularly murderous? Or if her father or brothers decided to take this as an opportunity to off him? While it was surely none of her business, she's already seen too much of such situations in her lifetime.
"Those who are outsiders are naught but meat in a stew pot when stepping inside of here, my Lord." The young Lady Sima folded her hands together in front of her before standing up from the instrument, "Is there anything I can get you? I'm quite used to serving our guests." After-all, their only servant had been offed and then... Well. Who wanted to think about that?
".. I am curious about our kid or kids for us. I find it rather interesting"

"Good morning Xiaowei," Sima Yi replied as he circled around the table, placing things here and there before he settled down opposite her, a faint smile painting his lips as he regarded her dishevelled appearance with slight familiarity. "I do not require to be woken, I have been up before sun rise, not everyone can afford to stay warm in bed during the cold hours of a winter morning" He pointed out, though he helped himself to some tea regardless of the statement.
"You would scare your husband beyond recognition looking like that, perhaps you should not resort to applying such needless decorations upon your face Xiaowei”
The young woman's lips tugged into a frown, listening to the usual speech of being up before the sun was and how hard her father's life was. Her nails clicked absently against the porcelain, dragging it up rather sluggishly to her lips, "Mother insists that it looks nice when done correctly. I just couldn't be bothered to take it off last night."
Lady Nanyang's brow twitched, eyes gliding along the place to look at home before them. There was a silent, heaving sigh that left her, shoulders attempting to still while gazing at the mess. Her brothers really didn't know how to clean up after themselves, did they? Then again, she guessed that was what she was for.
"Regardless of the hour you woke, I assume you slept decently at the very least?"
"Ahah... well, perhaps, if it's all right, you and I, may lady?"

When young, she’d follow her father around whenever he’d go out in order to learn to emulate his movements and behaviors. Upon being told by her peers that a girl could not act the same, she began to state rather vehemently that she was actually a boy.
Emerald hues widened in panic as she collapsed to her knees, “Lady Nanyang!” he cried, going to his knees before her. His arms extended to steady the shocked maiden, but he dared not touch her without her consent. This was well out of his realm of experience, perhaps he had offended her in some way?
"My lady, please… if I have offended or upset you in any way, simply say so and I will immediately take my leave."
"..." All sound had left her, constricted within the confines of her throat whilst her thoughts ran away without her. The Lady Sima's eyes moved away, her legs and kneecaps aching from how hard she'd fallen, a few stray pieces of hair bent out of place. She knew not where to begin. Her mother always thought she'd end up with someone so mediocre and had prepared her for such ever since childhood. She'd been preparing for a one-legged man or perhaps one that was simply none-to-bright. But... the emperor of Wu?
The brewer gathered her wits into one handful, arching her skull forward to reflect her etiquette, "...Xiaowei."
Matsunaga's face was hardened by the life of Feudal Wa, The only dent given from his figure was his rather significant scar. Sometimes it was atrocious to others, But it didn't seem to worry the other across him. This impression is absolutely amazing. It was as though she has trained for The Arts as much as he. And this made Hisahide approve.
"Perfectionists are my favorites Lady Nanyang. They are trained to not have flaws in something sacred, Rather they treat it with respect." He shook his head lightly with his smile still stuck, Hisahide was putting a fight to suppress the muscles of the lips to make it wider in order to prevent any macabre impressions. "I find comfort in hearing your voice and points. There are some ears that are not worthy to hear or understand. Those who wouldn't keep up to the views that are too vast yet precise."
"That's quite the interesting viewpoint." replied Nanyang in a simple, yet calm tone of voice. The blue, misty coloration around her eyes had smudged slightly from the steam, "Most men of this country would thoroughly disagree with you, My Lord. As I understand it, however, your country has many female fighters, no?"
The young lady seated herself at the table, folding her fingers in front of her after settling the tea correctly. "I'm afraid such things are rather taboo, here."
